They sent out emails to all account owners on 9/18/2012, here's what it said directly after it said how much MC was going to cost:

Quote

All MC purchased during Closed Beta will be logged and reissued in full after each Closed Beta reset. Items and premium account time purchased before each reset will need to be repurchased. When MechWarrior Online goes Open Beta all user data will be reset and MC reissued one final time.

Once MWO has gone into the Open Beta phase, all in-game purchases using MC are final.

So pretty much I'd guess you didn't read it.

Not wanting to do any more resets due to "beta fatigue" was one of the big reasons they cited for wanted to go to open beta, despite the fact that nobody thought it was ready at the time. It was 90% of the conversations on the forums for weeks, there was an email, it was in the OB announcement. I don't know what else they could have done, called you on the phone maybe? I can't think of any realistic way they could have made it any clearer.

Refresh to full MC value based on founder's package.

OK, so if you failed to get you MC reset what happens? I always thought that MC resets (like the paint camo reset), if they happen for some reason, happen to everyone no matter what.

I knew about that crap from day one. Because I pay attention. I PAY ATTENTION. You didn't know I was paying attention because you weren't PAYING ATTENTION. When I was a kid, a teacher told me to pay attention. I guess I took it to heart. Beats me, man. Beats me why most dudes suck. Sure as hell ain't my scene.

They were pretty clear about it as I recall.

emails, posts, replies to posts.

Yeah, they've said that the reset at Open beta was the LAST reset barring any catastrophic failures...if we're lucky, and I mean lucky, we'll probably see some kind of MC & Cbill refund when CW drops...but nothing in terms of a full credit.

so no more resets? this original post doesn't make much seance for me. are you upset about the closed beta to open beta reset? or are you mad about another pending reset? didn't close beta end like, months ago? would make more seance to be mad back then instead of months later.....

In before lock....

I remember seeing multiple entries about no more MC resets. The only scam I see here is the one you're trying to run.

did i use the word reset?

I used the word credit..meaning, anything and everything we have done stays, a reset implies all the work we've done gets lost, and people would throw a fit if that happened. BUT due to the fact that we are still finding bugs, and testing new equipment, a partial credit of MC and Cbills should be in order...NOT A FULL CREDIT...partial...like they did a month or so ago.

I couldn't care less regardless.

No, but you used the word "refund", which implies similar. There will be no refund or reset of MCs, globally.

None.

He did get a reset, but has now done something with it believing there would be additional resets in the future. He emailed customer service and was told the final reset happened with OB launch, and now he's claiming he wasn't informed of this and was under the impression more resets will be occuring, which they made clear would not.

I feel bad he missed the memo, but I don't think the fault lays with PGI, they were extremely clear.

Has anyone else been caught by this little MC reset/Open Beta scam these guys pulled off?

I sent their support an email asking my my MC hasn't been reset in Beta for 4 months, and I get a response with some links where they claim to have informed us that MC would not longer reset in Beta.

The link shows a long winded article posted on October 26th which says the last reset would occur when Open Beta came around November 13th.

They claim they emailed me. Nothing.

I go to their own News archive for November; it shows the first screen to Nov 25. I hit "Next"... surprise.. it's bugged, how convenient, and jumps to February. I force "page=XXX" into the URL to go to Oct-26 to November 2+ (My account show my MC was last reduced on November 2nd.) No post on their website/news of Open Beta.

The internet then shows they went Open Beta on... October 29? 3 days after they said it would probably be in 18 days? I remember logging in around then and there was nothing on the login page about "no more MC resets".

So they blitzed a trick in there to scam their trusting founders (I bought the biggest one) into not noticing their fine print they obscurely "informed us" about. So anyone playing randomly casually and not being some uber-fanboy checking the website daily had a 3-day login window to even have a chance at noticing their MC wouldn't reset.. after they were used to logging in and having resets on occassion. No login notification of this fact.

Apparently, it's just another fly-by-night screwball company trying to milk us for for money as they have no confidence in their product. Fine bring and mumbo jumbo rip offs. I presume posting this will also get my account locked somehow to further rip me off of my 120$, as they also deny a refund or MC reset.

I thought that the original FASA creator being involved would lend credibility to the venture; I guess not. I liked him until now; and I was 8 years old buying FASA BT products and playing tabletop and MFNA tournaments while also dedicated 15 years of coding to BTech MUX's. So ends an era for me, one I thought was revived with his return.

For shame.

you know, its a beta whether you think so or not. And its not a scam, they told you it was a beta before accepting your money. So stop being all mad because of what YOU did and go get a life or something. The BETA goes on, and on, and on, and on.........

Oooh oooh, and a +1 for them banning you!

Rambling Rant

Your mad because after the last ever reset you didn't know that we were in Open Beta for the last 4 months and spent your MC that was stated for months prior would not be reset? Okay, your mad at yourself for being ignorant and unobservant because even my casual friends who logged in maybe once a month back then asked me what Open Beta meant for their MC. :)

No, the bit last month was due to a re-jigger of the paint system, from something stupid, to something semi-reasonable.

no it doesn't.

reset = everything we've done gets wiped.

refund = we get some MC & Cbills back and the work we've done stays. EG, if you purchased a Hero mech for example for 5000MC, they refund 5% of all MC expenses for example, so this person gets back 250MC, and keeps the mech and all XP earned. a person who spend 100m Cbills upgrading, gets back 5M.

Very miniscule when you look at the numbers spent, versus, refunding a legendary founder all 20K mc for example.

OK so he was reset, spent the MC and now wants another reset, I get it. Well hard to imagine that he had thought there would be another reset after all of this time. The game has been in open beta for months now. It would be different if he was posting this a week after open beta, but it's way too late to complain about it now.

I don't know how you spend $120 on a game and don't keep up with the news about it. It was the open BETA announcement too, the biggest one they have made thus far.

Too make it worse, he thinks his anger is justified. HA!

You don't need to be a "fanboy" to check in on your $120 investment every once in a while.
