By using your jets to geeteeeffoh. Ravens cant chase you as easily over impassable terrain. Don't try to fight them. Ravens are currently broken.

It totally is. Ravens just dont take damage correctly, I've concluded. Ive duked it out one on one with them in my TBT using trip ssrms (When I can actually lock.), and still die in a quarter of the time. They just don't take damage when they're moving above 140, unless they get whacked by ballistics.
Needs fixin.
That's the trick, ballistics. It's also why I pilot the mech I do as much as I do... my dual Gauss Ilya.
In my 4xLL Dragon, killing a Raven is a #$@#$Ing nightmare. They easily take 3x the damage of any other lights, sometimes seemingly take no damage at all.
Ballistics though... they work wonders. I see so many #$@@#$ing Ravens, I've taken to hunting them in Ilya. A 2xGauss shot will leg a Raven and I have no issues hitting the little ********.
They are horribly broken though, to the point I avoid them if I am in a laser mech. That needs to be fixed, ASAP. I actually feel the mech should have been pulled from the game until fixed, as they are breaking it in their current state.

-start with a beer
-go to mechlab and realize I don't own a raven 3L
-get in my Cicada 2A instead
-hunt people that own a raven 3L
-get sad that it takes me 3* longer to kill them than any other light, medium, heavy or assault or
-get sad that his streaks killed me because my lasers don't f***ing register even though my cross hair goes red
-scream **** ***** ********** you, you ******* ***** ******** Raven (self-censored for use of inappropriate language)
-repeat the above sequence, until too drunk to get a new beer.
I approve the beer and raven related parts of this message, the rest makes me sad and want to drink beer and pilot ravens to feel better.

Corrected the above
Sorry Balfor, but once again I object

As you stigmatize ALL Raven pilots, you just stigmatize yourself in practices your seems to pretty well know, and which not seems to be bound or exclusives to Ravens.....
Once again, I guess I am pretty far from an exception, I made my build myself (be a clone is all but interesting or funny, IMHO), I never consult build-things on forums (I seek advise from guild mate months ago about one of my Hunchie, I admit), I do not launch torrent-things since 1/I have none installed 2/since I play frm Europe with a crappy connection I don't want to have it get it worth, and so on...
Furthermore, it seems as recurrent to what I read that at one point, a great 'YOU NOOB BUUILD/CHEATER/<please with whatever you like here>' chase occurs.
Once it was the Jenner with the lag shield, then the streak cats, then the ravens (I may have missed some, I play few).
So what ? Those Jenners melt my Hunchies hundreds of times, so does the streak cats, so does the Ravens, and then ? Who's next ? Once again, it is a game, still in beta, we have frequent updates, dev listen to us, communicate, and for what I can see much players have fun.
It's a pity servers are done since I've a beer (Cheers Agent

Easy. The goal is to antagonize the predator like most prey tend to do by throwing rocks (mg ammo) at them. When they have become angry (ECM activates) you start dodging like mad and snipe with the MG's to keep him pissed and drag him quickly towards your herd of protective mothers and let them rend it to bits.
Remember - you are not alone and a Raven who thinks themselves badass tends to become roast chicken. You are a spider, make a web and lead your prey into the trap.

1. Scout early and find enemy movement...and report it
2. As a light my primary job is to eliminate the lights my presence brought in.
3. After the lights are gone I go and counter the DDC's and let the lrms go to town
4. If we are losing then I try and cap and run the other team around, try and separate them
5. Hunt down separated mechs and destroy them
So raven pilots what do you do to help your team....
We all know what it means to pilot a 3L. So you are trolling. 2/10

Did the mean raven touch you? Show me on the Atlas where the bad bird touched you...
Really i mean you sound like you need a tasty alcohol and a joy ride in a raven.

It has nothing to do with learning how to down them. Ravens in their current beta form take signifigantly recuded damage and still have severe hitbox/netcode issues. Shortly after the netcode fix, I was downing 3Ls left and right, but the issue decayed maybe three or four days after, eventually back to the previous state of "FFFFFFF".
Hence my sentence:
"As for things being broken, that's for PGI to decide and deal with, if at all."
Also, how sure are you it is really due to netcode or hitbox issues and not just you actually missing the shot?

I usually pretend I am as strong as 2 D-DC's ... yet faster than the fastest Spider. I streak streak cats and I only am weary of overheating during my joy of slaughtering my enemy. My only real sadness is I can't seem to install any jump jets ... if I could, Superman would be jealous for I am Raven 3L!

True !
This is widely known and accepted that only Ravens may carry ECM

Well... any way, if someone have a constructive (or at least funny) post....
Sigh....
Some people need jokes explained: you see, it is common on these forums to discuss the actual/perceived OP that is the Raven 3L. A large part of that is due to its ability to carry ECM. It also has to do with apparent hotbox issues, but generally, it is the ECM. As you may have noticed, this thread descended into said discussion and quit being about actual scouting tactics. It is very likely that this was the OPs original intent: posing about the Raven, knowing how controversial it is generally (3L specifically) would generate a large number of replies, many of them being of an entertaining or joking nature.
My post was a continuation of the said "Raven is OP" meme that exists on these forums.
By all means though, you go one being sanctimonious and ill be sure to be more literal in the future so your head doesn't hurt.
Edit: stupid auto correct

To be fair you didn't reference beer, speed, red paint, or missiles in your post so you probably deserved to be criticized.

The most important thing that any ECM equipped light can do is to:
-Run without ECM on and use cover so you don't alert the enemy that ECM is present
-Turn on ECM when you believe you are out of visual for the enemy
-Look for lonely LRM boats and then turn on ECM to prevent them from locking and TAG/SSRM the LRM boats to death
Counter LRM is the primary benefit a light can give to a group. You can effectively take a LRM 60 boat from play.
