...Cut the engine rating down to a 250, and the twist down to about 70 degrees, and SRMS/SSRMS will be completely balanced. Its not even the fact that Catapults can boat every weapon in the game, the problem is they can do so better than just about any mech in the game. LRMS AC20s PPCs SRMS/SSRMS.... all with close enough to a 360 arc of fire, max armor, and the speed of a medium. Cutting their speed and fire arc will give them enough disadvantage to be in line with everyone else, but still let the payload be deadly if they can get position.

Cut the engine rating to 250? Since when is 60-something (with default engine of 260) the speed of a medium? A1s are the only Cat boating SRMs so making the changes you suggest would hurt the other Cats.

Heh cut the speed of all mechs in the game if you like - it's too twitchy FPS for my refined tastes.

If they do that, can they also REDUCE the hitbox on the cockpit so a Catapult wont be headshot after 1 hit from a player who gets lucky or who waimed for that part of the mech (since its right infront of the CT)@!!!!!!

Just cut the twist by 10-20 degrees on each side. That'd do a lot to make the cats more approachable.

Stop getting out of position and don't brawl with them. At 150m, they are useless. It isn't hard. There is nothing wrong with the Catapult. It us quite balanced and an easily removed target it you can aim. It is prone to easy headshots and the A1 is very easy to emove the ears on.

Can't kill the Cat? Don't come close to it :) Simple solution. Even with top engine it makes only 86kmph at elites. Just find out first what it carries and judge what to do - come closer or run further.
Scary about Cats with PPC/Gauss or with SRMs/AC20? Face Stalker with the twice of firepower :o

.....Most engagements take place sub 200, and its easy enough to sneak up on people.... the problem with Cats, is they don't have any blind spots, and they are fast enough that once in range, you will be lucky to get out. They need to be slower, and have to worry about THEIR position a lot more than they do currently. They don't have a backside, or much of a downside. cover is extremely easy to come by in this game... disengaging from a close fight not so much.

I dont understand why the stalker doesnt have remarkable twisting ability like the catapult. The reason the catapult was given fast twisting and a high twist arc was because of it not having functional arms. Well the Stalker is in the same boat yet its twist is reduced to a craptastic amount and its twist speed is lacking. So in my opinion either reduce the catapults twist or increase the stalkers degree of twist.

I think the torso twist reduction alone would be sufficient

Cats aren't mediums.

....86 Kmph is faster than almost all assaults, most heavies and many mediums.... combined with the 360 arc of fire. cover is easy. And its silly that the Catapult is the only mech in the game that has so many cheese builds.

Jesus kids. Let the developers bring back knockdowns first. As I recall the easiest mech in the game prior to removal of that mechanic to knock over was the Catapult.

The second easiest was the Raven.

That's near enough the distance where all the missiles converge on a near as dammit single point...

the cat cheese builds are symptoms of a bigger problem with map balance. the problem is that too many of the current maps are made for brawling once we get more wide open maps like alpine the cheese builds should taper off. besides the A1 is much stronger when you put a balanced build on it

I will be looking foward to this day. Those are two of my least favorite mechs

Splatcats often annoy me greatly in the moment, but no more than several other things, and I don't feel they ruin the game. However, it's quite apparent which people are desperate to defend them with idiotic comments like:
  • Don't get close
  • Shoot the ears off
  • Use your sensors before you charge
  • ... and other nonsense.
Either that or they're desperate for others to think they're better at the game than they actually are. Little do they know that it only demonstrates their ignorance.

Anybody with a lick of common sense, and the balls to admit they occasionally die in a video game, knows that:
  • Splatcats are fairly fast and can catch just about anything that's trying to back away
  • If you're faster and turn to run, you just die to 36 missiles in the back before you go far
  • If you're faster and turn to run, you can't shoot at the ears, because they're behind you... shooting you in the back
  • The same cover that protects you from Snipers and LRMs gives the Splatcat cover to get close
  • Splatcats have enough armor that it's essentially impossible to prevent them getting at least 2 alphas before a single mech can kill them or amputate an ear. Teammates, unless they were already facing them, will likely take at least this long to respond.
  • Only very bad Splatcat pilots approach across open terrain
  • Splatcats, along with AC20-cats, are often piloted by the most cowardly players and don't even enter the fight until everyone is half dead and they can 1-shot people
Yes, yes they can be dealt with, assuming your team has the brains to focus them down, but that doesn't help that first guy they saw when you/they came around the corner or over the hill.
