If you want to test the SRM6 out of a two tube slot pick up a TBT-7K. The right arm is a SSRM laumcher with 2 tubes. 2 SRM6 is... interesting. Not sure I would call it effective though.

The difference here would be two sets of tubes on a single aim-point, providing an almost endless streams of SRM's 2 at a time, doesn't look all that effective but it would be fun as hell, until you overheat and someone puts 6 PPC's into you.

Actually by checking the other cicada models against this one you can see that it does have a hard point structure there if it was just the arm structure it wouldn't stick that far out.

Actually you CAN see it if you look super closely. Look in the upper-left corner of the left Missile Pod (from the Cicada's point of view). You can see a sliver of the upper part of the laser mount there.

Guys you're right I didn't checked that pic so well ;) :o :P

what is the story with the paint though? it looks like it was just put together and pulled out of the scrap pile... lol...

I think the whole hobo paint job was influenced by the whole http://mwomercs.com/...of-mechwarrior/ thread. Stig being a hobo, I would have to say the paint job or what remains of it lives up to that lol.

Stig - noun (British English, pejorative) someone from a poor background, with a poor dress sense

For whatever reason having two missle hardpoints lets it fire both SRM6s at the same time, kinda like how both lasers will fire out of the same lens at the same time. So it does come out as 3 salvos of 4. So if those are missle harpoints it would be the same firing pattern, only instead of coming out of one arm it would be split between two toros. So not very accurate.

Edit - When I bought the 7K I was actually hoping for 6 salvos of 2. Missle machine gun!

It's somewhat funny to see all this scrutiny over a picture. Until the mech is actually out and can be seen from an actual internal build standpoint, all you can do it speculate. I understand that they're trying to be accurate and all as to what *could* be on the mech, but we still can't tell for sure.

I am somebody who has piloted almost nothing other than a Raven 3L (4X and 2X just to master the damn thing), and if they did this I might actually take it upon myself to learn how to use more than one mech.

you can set them in a weapon group to chain fire, so 6 solvos of two on the same aimpoint.

Indeed. Someone's in for a rude awakening when collisions get reimplemented, and/or when state rewind is implemented, and/or when the 3L's hitboxes are fixed. It's gonna be tough to go from that to what the rest of us drive ;)

Well, all that is necessary aside from and separate from the ECM thing.

I can spot 3 energy hard points so far (LT, RT, RA). There's a pretty good chance of there being another energy point in the LA. I dunno what those "headlight" things are, maybe missile ports (1 hardpoint per side torso with 2 tubes each?)? Maybe they might also be laser ports, but they definitely are not ballistic.

Personally, I strongly suspect that those yellow structures are indeed missile racks (especially with how the presence of the bisecting groove makes them resemble the missiles shown in the concept art for the Atlas, Commando, Stalker, Trebuchet, and Highlander).

As it happens, a 4-energy, 2-missile Cicada would mirror - and could possibly have been inspired by - the "D" configuration of the Strider(which is, itself, the OmniMech version of the Cicada).
"Meant for close combat, the Strider D carries a pair of Streak SRM-2 launchers as its primary weaponry. These are backed up by a pair of Medium Pulse Lasers and a single Small Laser. The D configuration also carries a comprehensive electronics warfare package with a Beagle Active Probe to allow it to find hidden units, a TAG laser designator to call in Arrow IV artillery and Semi-Guided LRM fire, and a C3 Slave unit to share targeting data with allied units."

Though, the placement of the X-5's gear is obviously different from that of the Strider D, and the resemblance to a similar-and-related 'Mech could just be coincidence...? :P

Meh.

I am waiting for a CNT 9-AH or its bigger cousin a Highlander with an AC/20 in it´s arm and three missile racks in the side torso.

Umm, there was a CNT 9-AH but it was removed when the Yen-low-wang came out.

Looks like 4 energy(am guessing symmetry and a 4th laser in the left arm) and a pair of SRM2 or Streak 2.
That COULD be enough to make it interesting, but still sounds like a non jump capable Jenner to me.

I would be ok with this...

Good Lord if they put ECM on a hero mech, the cries of "Pay to Win" would de deafening.

I hope they do. First, because I already love my 3M, and an ECM hero Cicada would be fantastic. Second, because the crying of children is like sweet music.

Any claims of P2W in this game = "I have a skill problem."

I hope they give it ECM and the resulting sh*tstorm makes them take a good close look at the fiasco that is ECM instead of saying it's mostly fine and just needs minor tweaks.
ECM is bah-roken. There's no decision to be made about it. If you can slot ECM, you take it. With every other piece of equipment there's a decision to be made:

If I take PPCs I'm vulnerable at close range but can output a large amount of damage in a single spot

I can drop armor and fit an extra large laser!

Gauss rifles can explode but cause almost no heat when fired and have a long range

etc etc

Decision tree for ECM:

Can you fit ECM?

Yes? -> Take it

No? -> Use a mech that can fit ECM if you want to win your games
