Only because none of the hero mechs have been the best variant for their respective mech so far. If a hero mech ends up having the optimal hardpoint configuration those p2w chants will be back in force.

ECM wouldn't make it P2W since there are other mechs with a similar loadout that have ECM. That said, I'll probably be picking this one up, given that I like my 3 other Cicadas. Only thing better than missiles and ECM would have been a Cicada with arm ballistic hardpoints and the side torso lasers.

If this has ECM, the metagame will get interesting. This thing would eat Raven-3Ls for breakfast, but given its larger profile, mediums/heavies would have an easier time hitting the Cicada somewhat balancing the whole thing out in some rock/paper/scissors situation.

Or the potential for Atlas with Missile/Ballistics hardpoints on both sides of the torso. Like how they used to look.

I might get it if it is not too expensive as I dont have a 40 tonner.

Hero mechs are very much the flavor of the month and the Ilya for example is fun but the X4 ballistic version is better and I also prefer the twin torso missile hunchback to the standard founders.

I wish I could change paintjob on them.

Paint job changes to hero mechs have been confirmed, not sure which patch will allow it though.

Those are missiles. If you look at any of the atlases or the missile tubes on the awesome, the tubes have a circle-cut-in-half pattern for their little covers.

Probably four energy and two missiles, since the other cicadas have 5-6 hardpoints total. If it mounted ECM, it would be a raven killer, but something tells me that PGI wouldn't do that. If they do, oh well. It doesn't change the face of battle very much. In the end, its still a cicada.

It would be good, but you can't make a major meta-changer paid only.

why not?
Ilya added a level of dakka dakka the game had not seen before, YLW is the only mech in the game that can effectively carry an AC20 at high speed (flame is close but not quite - though it is tougher)

I think the bottom line is that this would be a very popular mech if it has ECM and Missile tubes and that means it will sell well. I think PGI has considered this fact. we'll know the truth soon either way.

you guys may be right about Garth's comment but I took it to mean that he would change it up a bit.

so now it sounds like either
1- all energy with ECM or some other goody (sounds like the 3C minus ballistics = boring)
or
2- missiles and lasers both with or without ECM (exciting either way)
