Not realy...
Hero mechs are unique varients in themselves, the founders atlas is a ugly remodel/reskin of a Atlas-D, with a minor cbill boost compared to a hero mech.

I wouldn't call a 25% C-Bill boost a minor boost compared to a hero's 30%.

Hhmm...I guess I'll probably be passing on this one. I just don't have much of a desire for a Cicada. I've already picked up 3 Trebuchets and, while I've enjoyed my TBTs, I don't think I'm much in the mood for another medium Mech.

I would have gladly jumped at a hero Atlas, Stalker, Catapult, or Trebuchet.

So if it has no JJ or ECM its basicly a jenner-D with the downsides that it can't fly and 2 of its energy hardpoints are fixed to the torso, the only bonus will be the extra tonnage. My founders jenner can do the same things.

If it has ECM = forum will implode

If it has JJ = I may buy it but

I think we have had this discussion before... Right before the original release of the Cicada... When people were guessing on what desigantions were going to make it in to the game.

That Jenner argument seems very familiar. But seeing how we have the "bigger Jenner F" already it might happen.

Missiles would be interesting because it would be the first hero to introduce a new hardpoint type to a chassi, seeing as no CDA currently have missile hardpoints.

SRM6s aren't too scary when they come out of two-tube launchers. Much harder to use effectively.

Only in the situation where you have a faster mech circling you. Against slower targets, just keep your crosshair on them for 1 second longer, as a bonus, all the missiles have much lower spread this way. Against fast targets you are in pursuit of, same thing.

Looks like 5 energy. 1 in right arm, 1 in left and right torso, 2 in center, and 2 missile hard points in each torso. If no ECM and no jump jets then i just don't see it being worth a $ drop.

It probably won't have 7 weapon hardpoints as most of them either have 5 or 6 depending on model.

Won't be ECM on it. And we all knew it will be Cicada because Garth.

Without ECM, assuming it's slots are 4E/2M. That would make it like a slightly bigger Jenner. Basically gaining more protection, but also easier to hit. Not exactly an upgrade, more of a side-grade... in my opinion.

You forget it also wouldn't have jumpjets.
It could fit larger missiles, but the Jenner has 4 tubes, where this has 2+2 split (possibly).

If it's got 4E+2M I'll probably get one, just since a 40ton hero should be cheap, and it'd allow me to run 3 variants with something other than just energy weapons.

the Ilya Muromets is the best cataphract in many ways the only reason it is not an issue is because ALL the cataphracts are such good mechs no one seems to care.

Except the 2X. I like the 3D the best TBH. Ilya 2nd and 1X 3rd. 4X is nice but too slow for me.

This is the only thing that really bothers me. Every other Hero to date has maintained the same hard point types as their parent chassis variants. IF this has missiles, it would be a HUGE departure from what the Cicada really is. I'm not saying that would bother me as this is considered an X variant and, as such, should be a departure from the others. But, what I really wanted was something along the lines of 4-5 energy and a single CT mounted ballistic with JJs.

CT - 2 Energy

What are you seeing? I went into the older screen shots and them to small red dots below the cockpit are already there …

I'm going with 4 energy and two missile hard points, but no ECM, and a standard 320: The heatsinks will be crap come hell or high water, and the quest will be to stick on a PPC and TAG to get the streaks up and running …

:)

Good Lord if they put ECM on a hero mech, the cries of "Pay to Win" would de deafening.

I have to ask. Is pay to win so bad? To help keep interest in the game new mechs that come out will need to be different than previous ones. But there are only so many combinations of engines and hard points. Eventually the new mechs will have to be flat out better. Or no one will really care.

They don't have to be vastly superior, but they will need to be better once we run out of different.

I used to think p2w was bad. And still think things like gold ammo and what not are bad. However a better much that you have to put cash down on? I'm okay with that. The mechs are a little too expensive but that's another story.

Well, it's technically called Founders...
no... None of the founders mech are considered hero mech. All hero mech have different hard points than standard mech. Founders mech have the same hard points as the non founder versions of the same mech.

As for the hero cicada, I'm going to say it will come with 4 medium pulse lasers, 2 SRM 2s and JJs :)

You are right, those red dots on the CT aren't laser points.
You might be right about the configuration...

eXperimental perhaps.

love that they are introducing experimental mechs as Hero mechs.

experimental mechs would logically be very rare. and in some cases one of a kind, and therefore a qualified hero mech.

Well if it has Missiles, I'll more then likely buy it. Otherwise what does it really offer that the other Cicadas don't?

Jump jets? 2x ballistic + 2x energy + 8jjs would be freaking awesome

Actually, the Cicada offers a number of ballistic and energy points that can be instrumental in any fight. In the RAM's Guide to the Cicada Chassis, you can see the flexibility of the line of mechs that have been developed. I can see 4 energy slots in the front, and ballistic ports on either arm. That would make sense to me. It looks the Hero variant of the Cicada line should be a very good medium mech...and fast, too.
