A quick discussion about easy fixes:

MG -> increase DPS to 1.0 like the Small Laser by increasing the ROF and a tiny bit the damage per bullet, max / effective range to 90 meter maybe a bit crit.

So what we got there: 2 MGs and 1 ton ammo = 2 tons, 2 tons are 2 MLs, but withour heat, the range is terrible low, DPS is less but it generates 0 heat, also the ammo is much faster consumed now. Seems like balanced to me.

Direct compeditor: Small Laser

Flamer -> Increase the heatgeneration by A LOT, like x8 or x6 times and screw the crit. Here is your stun.

Now we got CC in game and a usefull flamer. It now can seriously lower the enemy DPS, if your target uses energy or rockets.

Direct compeditor: Inferno Missles

ECM -> Make it work on both sides, without counter mode. SSRM Raven fixed, LRM boats FIXED. BAP as counter, but you lose the BAP bonus. ECM got only on / off mode.

ECM got serve disadvantages and got a real counter.

Direct compeditor: BAP

AC10 -> Increase the ROF + ammo. 4.5 dps, reason: More DPS as AC2 and more burst and crit.
AC5 -> Increase the ROF + more ammo. 4 dps min, reason: Better crit then AC2, but same dps.
LBX10 -> Flat damage increase to 1.5 per pellet, half the range, increase a tiny bit ROF.

Direct compeditor: other ACs

SSRM2 -> You have to lock on every shot again, but you can fire them unguided if you want to.

What do you think?

EDIT: Don't forget that these ideas are made of stone, anything you bring on the line will be considered. These things where just basic ideas.

Why do you have a list of Mechs you own in your name? I mean there are only like 12 Mechs or whatever it's not a collectible Mech game--oh wait, it kinda is isn't it. :P

MG: yes

Flamer: too big a buff. It should increase heat over time on the target, not instantly. Say 5-10% per sec per flamer up to 99%. a 9 flamer hunchie would not be OP, targeted mech would still be able to maneuver, but not fire ANYTHING without shutting down, and it would give MG with 0 heat an advantage.

ECM: Tough nut. I think heat is the balance here as well. Have the unit generate 5% heat per second while in disrupt, 2% in counter, and 0% when off. This makes it a tactical decision on what mode you need to use, while not nerfing it to command console levels just because of 3L hate.

AC: I think they are OK where they are at. I do pretty well with my 4X and quad AC5s.

I think for as simple as those are those would probably get the job done without breaking anything else.

I think in addition to that though, all missiles need a small damage reduction and streaks need to have their ability to turn sharply to follow targets drastically reduced.

For those saying that makes the flamer too powerful, keep in mind the flamer is VERY short range. You have to just about bump into something to hit it with the flamer, no?

I disagree strongly with your flamer idea. They aren't supposed to be very good, this game doesn't need CC or stunlocks like an auto-aim MMO. Flamers are just there to slow down the RoF on mechs that are already running hot, nothing more.

What I want to know is if the developers ever experiemented with viable machine guns, ones that were competitive with the small laser. If they discovered something during closed testing why haven't they revealed it to us?

Four machine gun max on a chassis was never a danger from a boating standpoint and is limited by both damage dispersion and very short range.

I just want an explaination.

MG's yes pls.
Flamers. That buff is way to big. Id say 2-3x should be enough.
AC10's are pretty much on the spot, maybe a little more ammo/ton.
AC5. Dont know. Never used them.
ECM. Hard to decide. Never had issues in it's current form.

I got all mechs in game, I just posted those I mastered.

MG: Buffing to bring them in between small and med laser. LIKE
Flamer: more heat. less heat...doesnt matter. let it be plasma, directly coming from the reactor and melt down your enemy. ultrashort range "ppc-mg" 2dps 3hps

This has been suggested plenty of times and is a bad idea. As stated in the last time someone posted this suggestion:

exactly!
right know it is not worth taking w/o boating (quad build).
decreasing the reload to 1.5 would bring dps up to 3.33 rounded and hps to 0.66

maybe people will then consider the ac/5 more then right know. the uac/5 still has more dps power, but the ac/5 is more reliable and it still doesnt come up with the ac/10

Oh... when you said "easy way" i mistook this for another post about units that play in "easy mode" Running 3Ls, D-DCs and SplatCats, and universally trying to denigrate builds that require skill to master as worthless.

My bad.

Do agree with you on the whole MG thing.

Oh no it won't be like this every day. Maybe just one or two a day. Speaking of free time I have none. I'm off to change a water pump soon.

The bigger the options, the more fun is the game.

UAC5 would stille be better (4.55 and more with df), but AC5 would be also viable.

I have no easy solution to the whole SRM6x6 cat or SRMs in general. Very hard to balance in my humble opinion.

AC/5 I think is better if you are boating unless you have the tonnage space for enough UAC/5s
