I wonder if the airstrike will be loaded with mech weapons to fire or just something special for it. I don't play TT but played a bit of MW:LL. Aren't the planes loaded with the same stuff? SRMs, Medium lasers?

Yes, they are.

Artemis IV Fire Control is another module item thats coming...

I couldn't care less about modules. Those things are strapped into mechs and those mechs should be part of the battlefield.

Yes, MW:LL used build rules for all the Mechs and Vehicles they added. All of its from 'canon,' so even Aerospace, based on its tonnage, carried a certain amount of armor, an engine, and different types of BT weapons.

Ex. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Spad (30 Ton "Light Aerospace Fighter")

Only you have an entire team of D-DCs, -3Ls and YLW...

....they are the only mechs that can load four modues.

:edit

Oh and Spider -5Vs (lol)

an 8 man team running nothing but D-DCs and 3Ls. That doesn't sound to far out of the question.

I think that regardless of what ppl think about the P2W question, it's not very likely that they allow airstrikes to be stackable in a way that basically screws over ppl caught in the area, spammable at the start of the round, and so on. That's one of those glaring gameplay flaws that has immediate and obvious consequences when ppl start abusing it. You can only make money from your game if it's playable ;)

Right now subtract two Ravens and add two splat cats and I have seen that in 8 mans.....recently.

Air strikes and Artillery will definitely be location based. From... sources...

Artillery: Saturate an area with high explosive indirect fire.
Also - "Long range fire support from off map artillery. This does heavy damage in a large area on the map."

Air Strike: Aerial bombing along a vector.

However, to expand on the air-strike weaponry, the things from MW:LL are fighters.

You commend airtsrikes with bombers like these:

This will probably a feature that only the commander of each team can use, and not all mechs in the round.

But only speculation.

Can't people switch who the commander is at any given time during a match?

Im suspecting that only 1 player at a time will be able to order in an airstrike or artillery strike. Can't have 10 planes flying all at the same location now can you...oh.....wait......... battletech logic. Damn it!

I'm sure PGI will make sure it's completely balanced.

I'm really interested to see the implementation on these. I'm assuming there will be a delay after calling in the strike. I would also hope there is some graphical representation (in coming aerospace fighter) or at the very least a warning from Betty.

These were initially discussed as "command tree" items, so it will be interesting to see if any restriction like that still applies.

Would love if they were like table top. Artillery does always land where you want it (so its not guaranteed damage) and air strikes are a strafing run of sorts (making them effective as an "area denial" weapon.

Right?

I'm a little worried about these strikes too, but I'm reluctent to judge until I see how they work in terms of:
1.Use
2.Damage
3.AoE
4.Cost

Sorry but I think yelling this is only way people will understand:

Consumables are not in game yet. Won't be for at least 2 weeks. Please stop arguing about how over powered they are and that they are pay 2 win until after they are actually implemented and we get a chance to see how they actually work first hand!

While people are raging about the flush, which I suspect will be a marginal item that is seldom used...

Is anyone else really concerned about the gameplay implications of artillery+airstrike being called onto a mech at will? Particularly if an entire team is doing it?

Seems that a team stocked on these would be able to call down instant death onto any mech of their choosing - particularly if you can force it into hiding with LRM or LR direct fire barrages.

I hope that it'll be tied to the command console - if not done properly this could be wide open to abuse. Hopefully they'll post more details on this.

Good. My airstrikes or arty strikes will be on the boating Catapult EVERY time.

If its anything like Medal of Honors chain play. Then its going to be pretty bad because you have a LRM mech in the back just spamming airstrikes or a light will strafe past you with one. Granted you have to pay for them. But people will be spamming them.

Once they're in and people can pay to win, it's too late, the damage will be done. So it needs to be talked about now, before MWO's reputation is irreparably damaged and all the people serious about avoiding pay to win scenarios have left.

Let me know if you need me to yell this.

You can only use them once per match per person. So there will be no spamming them.

I will say, one restriction I want to see is that there must be "eyes on the target" to spot for a strike.

If playing conquest, "enemy capturing epsilon" should not equal "open map and target epsilon".
