Stop getting shot at. You are a light pilot. Your speed and maneuvarability are your assets.

If you are getting shot at, it better be another light who is countering your actions.

This is exactly the kind of complaining I expected from the patch.

I piloted my Jenner Tuesday night, and my number of deaths that I expect did not increase. Because I don't play my Jenner like it was a 100 ton package.

You are supposed to be fragile.

Absolutely love state rewind, and can finally use my Jenner and fight back against 3L's. Haven't used that thing in some time.

I been seeing some weird things. I run mostly Awesomes or Cents. I got straight smoked earlier by a 6xPPC stalker in my CN9-AL. I darted across a small opening, saw the PPC's whizz behind me by a large margin, got to cover, sat there for about 3 seconds, then watched my entire right side just blow off. The Atlas over there with me asked WTF just happened. That STK pilot had a 250+ ping.

And it wasn't an isolated incident either, it happened other times too against ballistic boats where it would be a clear miss from double gauss, then a few seconds later I was missing all my armor in a certain area or just straight missing body parts.

So right now, high ping players get the lagshield of their high ping AND the advantage of clientside hit detection. Again, those of us with low pings are still on the sharp end of the stick.

I'm very disappointed. I thought this thread was going to be about how now, while I still need to lead with ballistics and missiles without state rewind according to lag, my lasers need to be focused client-side, forcing me to adjust my aim for "farther ahead" for nonenergy weapons, and "directly on them" for energy weapons. It's kind of annoying.

But no, just a light pilot dying, what's new?

I believe the Op point is that if lights are not viable, then that takes away from the game. Do we really want a bunch of 8 Atlas matches? Now MM does not balance, it makes it worse. I am not saying lag shield is OK, just that lights need to be viable in the game for best meta strategies and fun for all.

PPCs, Ballistic and missiles (a little bit) need the same hit-retracing

That is true but first the lagshield has to be removed then the devs can rework the balancing.

Since last patch I played with 3 mechs only: K2 Lazors, Jenner F with 4 MPL and a Hunch SP. My Jenner has the worst K/D Ratio (3.00) and the least XP earned by match. It also the only one of the three where I don't have unlocked Master.

Driving lights just got harder. Which is a good thing. Lights should scout and harass the LRMs/Snipers. And not dominate the battlefield ;-)

Lights are still fine, you just need to be more careful and choose your battles in a way you never had to before. I had a rude awakening as well, my 4:1 KDR in my Jenner D dropped off sharply once this patch hit but has been climbing upwards quite quickly. You now have to do what lights do best, hit and run or shoot distracted mechs in the back. You will now as a light have to work more towards getting objectives than brawling.

The raven is still a bit messed up though, the hitboxes seem wonky

Suck it, Trebek!

Your sweet Light-Mech tears are ambrosia for my belly! I will melt your faces all day long in my 4-LargeLaser Awesome-9M. It is the most beautiful thing in the world.

I didn't seem to have an issue on my Ravens, but my friend was complaining about being annihilated almost immediately every game and he plays spiders and commandos. I'll test more tomorrow.

From my experience Ravens are still as hard to hit as ever. I can't fathom why. They just seem super invulnerable. All other lights no problem. But nailing a ravens torso just seems to be impossible. From my third hand experience the 3L is still as superior a mech as pre-patch.

lights are still viable it's just that now you have to use your head before going to battle instead of pressing 11 on you trottle and lololololololing all over the field spaming the fire button at things that couldn't hit you with a latency that made roman chariots look smooth.

your easy crutch, laggy, hit defective mechs be leveled with the slower ones now. the way it was always meant to be.

ditherers with a ecm streak spamming complex your win buttons are dissappearing cause the game is now begining to be built propperly. there is no sympathy for statpadders especially if they didn't even know they were exploiting a glitchy game a month or so back.

0/10 for a sad act op.

That certainly didnt happen due to state rewind, as it does not affect ballistic or missile weapons.

By the way, what was your ping in the PPC incident you described?

I will drive MORE lights when knockdown comes back. Maaaaan I miss those days. Being a light pilot was effing DANGEROUS. Such a thrill.

Yeah. I mostly stopped piloting lights after collision was taken out. Got dull and the absurd lag shield made it even less fun.

Wana be a successfull light pilot? Stop brawling and start doing your job of tagging, NARC'ing, scouting and providing target information to teammates. Those LRM pilots, like me, would be very greatfull.

My one misgiving with state rewind is that now all us pugs (myself included) get out of position chasing lights to shoot them with lazor beams. Here's some footage from a match earlier today that I recorded with fraps:

all those pugs couldn't destroy that white ball?

WHITE BALL IS OP!

Note how the complainers about rewind are those that relied on lag shield to protect them from damage.

Now you have to actually pilot your mechs with skill.

Get back into your light. The fun and the thrill are back :-) Jeners chasing Ravens, Laserboats chasing the rest etc ... With the module Target Info Gathering you can run between cover and mechs and try to shoot at the rear armor or exposed locations :-)
