I still have to hit air with Lasers to do any damage to Lights, and it still spreads all over the 'Mech - on the plus side, though, the lead isn't as bad as it used to be; seems to be about two or three meters as opposed to two or three 'Mechs' length.

You mean he and his premade buddies? Never seen the man solo. Frankly he gets too much credit, he is just a coward.

Sorry Wispys good pug or pre. A lot of us guys when we pug on pug get multiple kills so don't get a full head. We're also only getting better because **** of our fights these days are pre on pre.

As a Dakkaraven 4X (2 AC/2) I don't notice anything different about this patch than before in terms of damage received on my end. Maybe it's because my ping almost never exceeds 35...

A good/lucky pilot can get around the drawbacks of the state rewind - there was a Spider on the enemy team in one game I had last night. Little ******* managed to survive right to the end of the round and spent half that with one leg in the red. Never lost that leg either - I got a component destruction for it almost in the same instant someone else killed him.

Now, it could've just been that most of my teammates were targetting bigger threats or, like me, are still adjusting to not having to lag-lead with their lasers (or they were just bad shots) but lights can still be viable now that we can reliably hit them - it's just going to take more effort on the light pilot's part. Both in maneuverability and in knowing when to engage and when to break off.

He went solo for the tournament thing, and made it to 6 in a Jenner, with a pretty damn nice win/loss as I recall.

Wispsy ain't a bad pilot by any stretch. I can't insta-rock them anymore like I did back in closed beta!

...but this time from the perspective of a Light pilot.

The past 6 games I got legged, disarmed and one-shot killed. These 6 games have been the shortest I ever played. Couldn't see it coming, death out of nowhere.

Something is definitely wrong.

No, I am not a 3L pilot. I play Spiders almost exclusively.

I think State rewind helped solve the problem with Lag shields, but it took us into another extreme.

Well, I'm glad to hear the fix is working as intended! You got used to piloting an easy-mode mech because the lag shield prevented people from hitting you. Lights were never supposed to dodge hits from skilled players because of flawed mechanics. They have less armor, but they are more maneuverable. Learn to pilot them skillfully and evasively rather than running around in the open wondering why everyone is shooting 5 feet behind you.

Working as intended. Now you can no longer run in the open laughing along the way you must be sneaky dart in and out and go from behind, or you are toasted, just like in any other mech game.

Have paper armor get hit with a hammer you will rip to shreds.

So this is only effecting lasers and such right now? I can wait until my gauss rifle and ppc start hitting like they should. I can tell you how many times I have seen the satisfying spray of sparks from a gauss hit on a raven only to shout in anger as I realize that the hit did not register at all.

Did a couple matches with my 3L and can't complain. Only time I had a problem tonight is when I ran into a group of 4-5 enemy mechs and got annihilated. Well, 2 mins later the match was over because the same happened to the rest of my team as well.

I do also get great damage from my large laser.

Missing out on what? I didn't make him play in a premade with the pugs. Hard to say if he can pilot or not because when ever he gets attacked he screams in teamspeak "HELP HELP IM BEING ATTACK QUICK GUYS HELP!!!!" and his buddies come in and focus you down. Ace move? Okay... the man is a coward.

He has Pugged a bit as well. I used to see him in there. He's every bit as good as people say and has been that way since closed Beta. So he rolls with people on Teamspeak. So what? You'll find 4 mans who go against him have just as much respect.

Back on Topic. I think lights have had it a bit easy, a bit too long, especially ravens. It's going to be tough. What people are going to find, especially after Phase 2 (Ballistics and Missiles) is a rather large drop in light populations. My bets are what survives will be mostly Ravens (due to the Hitboxes).

The people who benefit most are International players, and there will be a surge in their ELOs.

Sooner or later, it all needs to lead to Repair and Rearm being reintroduced. Without a cost associated with playing a heavy or assault, there are just too many benefits. In the meantime, just remember that all the forthcoming maps are going to be large style.

state rewind is great.
my stats for yesterday:

you can actually hit ravens and fast movers now. they can hit you too, so if you used your light as brawler - surprise surprise!
even bonked x-5 twins in one match. feels good.

I will drive MORE lights when knockdown comes back. Maaaaan I miss those days. Being a light pilot was effing DANGEROUS. Such a thrill.

This.

I used to love dodging and weaving and showing some piloting skill, not this face hugging, circle jerking, collision lagging 3L-fest that all the lights are doing now.

Today was the first day in weeks I have actually seen a Jenner, and I've even been killing some ravens. Kinda nice, actually.

I hate to break it to you all, but the op is correct. a player with a high ping running a fast mech will get the reverse effect of lag sheild. state rewind will mean he will get hit by shots that to him look like they were not even close.
