Stats And Cowardice

This was always an issue before but now it has grown dramatically worse. Atlai with ERPPCS playing sniper? Ravens that will not run into the enemy rear? Cataphacts thinking they are Catapults?
This is silly, the sheer cowardice is going to drive me to a teamspeak server and my fellow PUGS should be ashamed.

Wait until they get stupid, strip off the individuals that get careless and then find the remaining weaknesses.
Stats are possibly just amplifying this effect. There has never been an effective consequence to a death since R&R were taken out.

Seriously though, this is a tactical shooter at it's heart, have patience, out-think your opponent and you'll come out against stacked odds every time.

LOL whats the point of having ER anything if you only use it close in? Cataphracts with 2 or more missile HPs can be a Catapult. in fact the one with 2 Missile HPs on the arm makes a decent Archer!!!
Ravens should be disrupting enemy lines but do that best if on coms.
Actually Team Speak is just adding another layer of good team play. Try it you will Like it!

So you think its a bad thing that we no longer have those guys that charge at the enemy and get obliterated within seconds? And those light mechs that go "WEEEEEEE I'M IMMORTAL" and run into to the whole enemy team only to get shot down instantly. You actually miss those things? Go play Hawken man, that's your game.

When I play a light, be it a spider or a jenner, I run around the enemy and flank or hit them from behind. Most of the time I do it with one other pug following me. I dont stick around and try and take out a heavy or an assault by myself. I stick and move, I do damage and leave, on the big mechs I try and take out the side torsos doing damage to weapons if possible.

In PuGs right now, there is a lot of what I call "Standing behind the dropship while *********** zebras".
It's a very frustrating thing. Especially if I'm trying to help by doing things like base capping to split forces or flanking.
And I do let them know what I'm doing and when to attack. But they just sit...and sit...and sit...and eventually die.

R&R was far better than what PUGS are pulling now, which is to play the entire match for stats rather than to win the round.

Generally, when I die, I'd say it's about 50% due to me doing stupid things. This morning, I had a frustrating match in RC where I decided to hang back a bit between Upper and the lower start point just in case somebody flanked and tried to cap. My group started to mix it up in UC with a sniper battle between UC and the other base.
While I was keeping an eye on the far bank, a Raven and Cent flanked me, ignored the base, and engaged me. I got tangled in scenery a bit and while I did some damage, I went down first on my team. Kind of embarassing for someone who was supposed to be our rear-guard.
I don't know what that last bit had to do with anything, but I think a lot of PUG-heavy matches start with a good bit of "ok, what do we do? someone decide..." that can drag on a bit, at least until the bulk of the enemy force is found.
NOBODY wants to be the first to blunder into a trap.

I will skip the frak you that you deserve because you are working entirely from assumption. I want tactics (strategy does not exist at this level), I do not want the weenies hiding in the assault boats at Normandy rather than hitting the beaches.

Premades wait what their PUG baddys do, PUGs wait what thier premade cheese runners do...
So...its all about waiting for occuring action to take an opportunity.

It sound like you're actually criticizing players for making use of cover while fighting. For using their brains instead of blindly rushing forward.

Since I did not say that anywhere, I am unsure as to how you assumed it. What I am criticizing players for is cowardice. When the enemy Raven is running in your group of hiders and you ignore it as long as it is not attacking you it is an act of cowardice. If you fire off some LRMS and go hide your Atlas 500 meters behind our base to act as "rear cover" it is a cowardice. If you are playing a light with ECM and you spend the entire match behind a Cataphract and then run when he engages it is cowardice.
I am not confusing tactical advantage with cowardice. I am pointing out that it is a FIGHT, not a cotillion and if you spend the entire match waiting for someone else to get bored enough to attack it is pathetic. The matches only last fifteen minutes, other than slower progression you suffer NOTHING for dying or losing (which is outright stupid) so please, stop trying to wait for everyone else to fight so that you can feel l33t.

If I'm not mistaken, all R&R did to "fix" this issue was to make it worse.
You are buying into the assumption that the Op made. That the way people are playing is somehow bad and not in fact better than most other offerings if you happen to want to use your brain and play video games.

To this point 10 minutes of maneuver and tense positioning trying to get the upper hand followed by 2 minutes of all out hell is often the most fun i have in this game. Scouts can scout, support can suppress, snipers get to snipe and brawls need to be smart to be effective.
In matches like that 9/10 times it is the team who effectively and patiently out maneuvered the enemy and pulled them out of position that wins the match.
