Freakin' lasers, man....

Seriously -- the more and the bigger the better. I find that the plain vanilla Large Laser is best for me against the 3L

First thing you should try to do is get one of his legs after that it should be a allot easier to kill him he wont have the speed anymore to circle jerk you to death.LOL

Well. They said they made lasers work better. They never said it applied to SRMs or any ballistic other than Machine Guns. Specifically they say it works on lasers, flamers, and machine guns. Nothing else as of yet.

But that's the point.. my Jenner F has 6xMLs on it.. splashing both legs 3 times (full contact, or very close since I have 92%+ with lasers) should remove armor from both legs.. that's 90 damage +/- 15 across both legs. And yet, often not even red armor let along gone. HSR might work better for -slow shooters shooting fast targets-, but it doesn't seem to work all that well with 2 fast moving participants. Streaks, however, still manage to shred you when you're doing the circle dance of death with them.. Like I said, I avoid streak lights when I'm in my light because my 30 point alpha doesn't register because HSR is still complete junk.

Pulse lasers (particularly MPL) are so much better at this.. I don't think it has changed that much since the patches, so :D

SRM6s and MLs seem to work okay.

If you drive a handed mech, grab a Commando by the ankles and beat the Raven to death with it. "Puny Raven..."

As a Jenner F pilot, I always pick a leg and shoot it. 2 good shots will take out the leg, but practically in the mess of battle it takes about 4. :D

Legging a Raven is the best way. Watch how quickly the team turns to burn down a legged Raven! Muahahahahahahhahaha die Raven die. :(

I normally finish the Raven by shooting the other leg out. :)

Be mindful of the direction the Raven is circling. Rather than chase in the same circle (the Raven's torso twist is enough that it can face you and SSRM easily), slow down/jump jet and set up and intercept path directly into it. You'll get a good shot off, cop an SSRM volley, but the Raven will lose lock on you.

If confronted with more than one Raven, you need to be where the backup is. Calling a focus target is absolutely critical to success. SRMs and LRMs are also helpful.

Keep a cool head, aim for the leg. :P

This method also works well against Cicadas.

TBT-3C

Alternatively, TBT-7M, but I prefer the speed over the JJs.

Bird shot works wonders :D

As an owner of a Raven-L3, I will say this. Just shoot it. They are good but not great. It is all down to who is behind the controls.
I hunt them down with my Cicada CDA-3M on a regular basis. a few shots from my PPC, and 3x Medium Lasers does the trick.
But as mentioned before SRM6 and some lasers in an alpha strike do the trick too.

Good hunting

I can't believe you are still going on about this. Yes im a Raven pilot and deeply love playing them but if it stops this thread I will post once more. Its NOT that hard to stop Ravens in their tracks.

LRM's do a great job from distance. It really doesnt take much to scrap metal a Raven from full shiny paint mode.

NEVER shoot Hippys.

NEVER let him circle you... If he is take him to friends or call them over. Ask them to LRM him

NEVER shoot Hippys.

Always try and face them with a friend. If he starts focusing one of you, the other needs to step back and take mesured shots. Legs have been mentioned.

NEVER shoot Hippys.

Shoot their backs. We Raven pilots dont tell you we forget to armor our backs to better take that LRM burst.

NEVER shoot Hippys.

6x PPC is a devistating one shot kill. I got hit by this two nights ago.

Oh and i almost forgot NEVER shoot Hippys, we are pasifists and just want to run up to you and give you a real big hug.

"I used to be a 3L pilot like you, then I took an AC/20 to the knee."

I'll see myself out, thanks.

So many posts on this thread. My tactic - use no guided missles, just lasers. Get a fast mech, intimidate the pilot into running, then chase it around wasting its rear armour.

My favorite thing to do is TAG Ravens from outside of their ECM shield and pour lrms on them. That's the Stalker pilot in me. Also, lasers and pulse lasers work well. As a Raven pilot nothing scares the ******* out of me more than splat cats and those mounting multiple ppcs. The only problem with splats is that you have to get close in to be effective. If the Raven has buddies, it can get really uncomfortable to the splat pilot.

Leg the little ****** and watch him limp away.
AC20 to the cockpit works well
TAG + LRMS as 3L pilots tend to run in the open more often because they are gods of mechwarrior

Hit one with 5 SRM6s in my Stalker the other day, the silly man was running towards me facing to the side...he got a faceful followed by many lasers, lets just say he didnt' last long :)

Not sure why this topic keeps popping up, my mechs with lasers/srms or my dual guass cataphract pop 3L's no problem. Now if I become encircled by 2-3 lights, then I have an issue but a single 3L is gonna take massive damage trying to fight at close range.

On the other hand I also pilot Ravens and if one stays on you during a fight I'd say they are doing it wrong. If I see any light circling a buddy I just time an alpha and kill them in 1-2 hits, so I would assume that anyone on the enemy team is going to be doing the same thing to me. I might do a couple of back shots and then I'm out. Hopefully if they turn around my teammates will see them with their back exposed and give them another shot in the back themselves. Either way I'm gone.
