That's something I've been wondering about, actually...when you use rudder pedals with yours, is it all recognized as one controller? Or does the game have to support multiple input devices?

I don't have the rudder pedals, there-in is my issue, as to recognising them, the throttle is a separate entity also, however it is seen by the computer as an axis of the joystick, I believe the same should be true of the rudder.

I use Foxy HOTAS config (the stick is VERY programmable as keyboard inputs) so they are all working in unison, I think Microsofts default joystick interface should do the same though (Just without the ability to program the stick).

E3 is here. Probably should have leaked some Mech info to calm the raging beast, then thrown in Artemis later on the week, where it would be all "AND A JOYSTICK TOO???" instead of opening up with joystick. Its your guys fault though, I told you not to get excited over the pixel by pixel mech releases, but you taught them you love them...

But no, its clearly absolutely obvious to these people ( ;) ) that this is ALL PGI has lined up for E3. They came all the way from Canada to E3 to show off a concept joystick.

Yup. Disappointment abounds, founders packaged dropped, 0/10, would not buy. I hate it when developers give options. What selfish jerks.

I don't necessarily feel crossed. Looking on the bright side, I was right in saying that it was a snake!

Well, this guy nailed it.

Can't help but be disappointed to see it's a reveal for a peripheral.

That said, might spring for the joystick if my Siatek Cyborg Evo isn't up to it.

And there was much rejoicing (yay).

I'm glad I didn't get up early to check this - it would've been an even bigger let down. I know there are a lot of people excited about a MWO controller, but there are also a lot who aren't, and this kind of marketing strategy is better used for something with a more ubiquitous approval rating.

I can't say that a custom controller for MWO isn't a cool idea - but frankly I don't think anyone today wants to buy a controller with extended functions that work for just one game. If anyone out there actually has the money to blow on a controller with a screen that's only compatible with MWO - perhaps you'd like to help me buy my books this semester?

Personally, if I could afford a regular joystick (which I can't anyway) I'd use the stick lefthanded and mouse righthanded - especially useful in MW3 with a free targeting reticle :D If Razer made their Artemis controller reversible with a fully programmable screen compatible with other games, and if I won the lottery, I might buy it - 6-9 months after its initial release and after careful consderation of user reviews (which reviews are the reason I haven't bought a Razer mouse when I've had money).

I think over all folks are more starved for Game Play information so when we had this massive build up, the announcement of a joystick was seen as a major let down.

Honestly this could have been handled better with a scramble image of the joy stick and not the mash of concept art.

There was one user who called it - that it was going to be a controller. It's a long thread to search for it, though...

That thing makes the Steel Battalion controller look like a toy! And the only thing that the LCD screen in the middle adds is $ onto the price I bet. Pass!

That's because the forum does not recognize .jpg:large as a valid file extension for images. Nothing you can do about that (except upload it to another place, where you can link it directly).

It does look awesome, but if it is anywhere close to $250 as some are saying, I am definitely going to pass. That is just too much.

... I completely understand why PGI hyped this the way they did. Razer is a huge company. HUGE. They make deals with Blizzard and Bioware to make custom, tagged peripherals. To have the opportunity to join the big-name players like that with a named, customized peripheral is gigantic, especially given the fact that MWO isn't even out yet. Just having the Razer name attached is a big boon for PGI in general and MWO in particular. There's no way this isn't an advertising coup for PGI, even if Razer never builds the damned thing.

I could care less for it really, but I understand why they did it. When you get down to it, PGI/IGP are bussiness that are looking to make a profit from their product. Exclusive deal with high-priced peripheral company (Razer) = more potential profit. More profit for the investors = more money to develop game.

Which basically equals win for everyone.

/Pseudo-logic

Good logic and good point. I for one am happy there were able to secure third party interest. For one, it will increase the number of potential players through outside interests. For another reason -- if other third party endorsements come in, then that may alleviate the pressure to cover costs in-game with more 'cash-shop' items that may make some uncomfortable. At the very least things like this could give the extra funds to push deeper development for features we all (devs and fans) would really go crazy for.

While I was hoping for more game information this here has me a bit giddy:

What intrests me though is the screen its self... does that mean the game will support an external MFD screen??? And would it mean that we might be able to use our Android tablets/ iPhads as MFD's?????

I truely hope so. I have some spare devices I could rig up. Was not originally thinking of going overboard other than multiple monitors but if this is true... I may just get wild and inspired enough to make a more featured mini cockpit with extra monitors to mimic the ones seen in the in-game cockpit.
