I'm still using that joystick heh, and just chiming in with others kinda dissapointed there was so much hype for a presumabely very expensive product tie in that quite possibly few of us will buy (who knows maybe I'm wrong and they will sell like hot pockets).

I don't really get the disappointment of all here. What did you guys actually expect? E3 is already going on and information about the actual game will be revealed soon enough. I didn't expect anything special, since I couldn't imagine anything special that was worth releasing before the actual presentations. Thus the Razer Artemis was actually outlandish enough to positively surprise me, even though I might never buy it.

I am intrigued, but as others have said the price point is what worries me. Razer is notorious for overpricing their products.

Well...I'm presently saving up for a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog. If the sim review sites write up extremely favourable reviews for this stick, and it doesn't cost more than the TMaster, I might give it a go.

I'll clarify my disappointment.

The first reason being the scrambled images had NO real impact on the actual reveal. Sure the little "swirls" could be construed as radar lines...but how you connect that with a controller I have no idea.

Secondly, I played SWToR (Star Wars the Old Republic) and they built custom products for that game (Razer SWToR Gaming Peripherals). As you can see, that's a $250 KEYBOARD. No fancy screen, and custom board with integrated Joystick/Throttle Stick. The price is just going to be astronomical.

Thirdly, I know I'm rough on my hardware. And Razer doesn't have the best reputation for building a product which can last, much less be rugged.

Think about it, you're going to be in the midst of a battle, SLAMMING that joystick around in anger/frustration/bloodlust as you pilot your 'Mech down opponent's throats. I just don't think it's going to last

TLDR: It's really cool. But I can't justify something I will most likely break for the price isn't going to be set at. ;)

I think it's pretty boss. Don't want one, don't buy it.

People QQ'ing that the reveal wasn't what they wanted/expected...well they could have not given you anything.

I don't think I'd buy one, but that's one awesome looking controller.

This is insane. The amount of complaints just make my mind melt.

THIS WAS ONE OF THE MOST ASKED FOR FEATURES EARLY ON WHEN MWO FIRST WAS ANNOUNCED. WE WANTED A SPECIAL JOYSTICK JUST FOR MWO.

There were SEVERAL threads relating to that subject back then.

Actually, I think it does have a fancy touchscreen. That's why the SWTOR board costs so much.

My thinking goes like this:
Because it's Razer, I probably won't buy it - their build quality leaves something to be desired over the long term, and the prices on their peripherals (particularly the ones with the integrated LCD screen) are incredibly expensive. Knowing Razer, the price on this will be somewhere in the $250-$300 range, and it might run as high as $500. At that price, you're in Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS territory. And if I could afford one of those, I'd have already bought one by now.

Now, that having been said... I completely understand why PGI hyped this the way they did. Razer is a huge company. HUGE. They make deals with Blizzard and Bioware to make custom, tagged peripherals. To have the opportunity to join the big-name players like that with a named, customized peripheral is gigantic, especially given the fact that MWO isn't even out yet. Just having the Razer name attached is a big boon for PGI in general and MWO in particular. There's no way this isn't an advertising coup for PGI, even if Razer never builds the damned thing.

TL;DR: I won't buy a Razer peripheral, but PGI's excitement over it is totally understandable.

My take away for this is that we can get information out to separate screens. If it is available to this controller, its available to other devices.

I'll add to what I've already said with some more positive, it's nice to know that there is enough support for this game to warrant this kind of controller. A marketing goof, but I'm glad to see it anyway.

well.. we were right about the white stripes being part of a logo... we just didn't have the right logo

It's a very cool product, but, the price is going to be key.. given how most of Razer's gear is priced a bit above similar gear from other manufacturers... if this is too expensive, it won't sell.

I've got a F16 HOTAS, it's pretty bad ***, but be sure and get a rudder for this if you can't re-program the microstick as rudder (I couldn't figure it out in MW3).

Edit: ^bad meaning good not bad meaning **** to quote MC Abdominal.

Looks like it.. they arent very clear on everything. But thats what I see..

Also from reading and looking.. the button below would be a "Function" button.. so the 12 buttons can act as 24..

Looks like on the head of the joystick we have a thumb hat (Head), two addition buttons and a "Zoom" on the left..?

Standard Trigger and looks to be some sort of thumg hat where you rest your left hand.

Possibly also a paddle trigger if you squeeze the Joystick..

Be nice if they pointed some of these things out clearer.

Thats a weak throttle then!! Ill stick with my X-52. Knowing Razer and it having a screen, i wont be surprised if that thing was over $300.

What intrests me though is the screen its self... does that mean the game will support an external MFD screen??? And would it mean that we might be able to use our Android tablets/ iPhads as MFD's?????

I think it is supposed to represent Razer's Logo.

It will be expensive, but the high cost will come from its hardware, being a Joystick, with additional hardware and, more importantly, a fairly big auxiliary screen. It's not just a keyboard.

Can't say anything about that though. I recently bought a left hander Razer DeathAdder, I hope it holds longer than some here are suggesting ;).

Lol, well, the same could be said for any hardware. There might be situations where you want to smash your Tablet around in anger, or your Smartphone. But you just don't do it, do you?

Indeed, cool, but probably too expensive.
