If i would be able to select camo just before drop (when mech is already selected and map already known) , i would buy camos for each map/environment type for most my mechs.

Yup. I even bought a few during the sale a few weeks back, but they're really pointless to own because I never get to see them and I can't select appropriate ones for each match so there's no real tactical point in changing them so long as we're stuck with random map drops.
And as much as I'd like to paint mine some with fancy colors, it does just attract attention on the battlefield which is generally the last thing you want.

You do know she is in a Warlord now right???

How can someone have down the advanced "jewel" painting Technics and lack basic shading or even inking? I mean the Warlord looks better than the Rifleman, but even there the thing could be improved with some really basic technics... even a wash applied to the joints.

=======================

I have to agree. The "I won't spend money unless there is a game advantage." crowd should be cross referenced with the recent barrage of P2W consumable threads. I think their might be some hypocrisy.

You don't have to spend real money to paint a mech. Basic colors are not hard to unlock, can be done with C-Bills and are good for a "highlight" color while still using mostly green. I zipped through a few mechs and the tertiary color slots on most mechs is a highlight. 'phract gets some striping, Centurion gets it's mohawk and a few other places colored, Commando gets a vest and kneepads, Dragon gets a few outlined areas, Raven gets some joints highlighted, and so forth. Just that tiny bit of a stripe sets the mech apart but isn't apparent unless you look hard.

I want camouflage colours adapted to the environment. White/grey in maps with snow, desert colours in desert maps and green colours in maps with wood. BUT BECAUSE YOU DROP AT RANDOM YOU CAN´T ADAPT TO THE ENVIRONMENT.

That's why mine are Battleship Grey. Looks like they aren't even painted at all.

Bait them to buy ... what ? If you want all the cosmetics for free, what is left for them to charge for ?

Mechs, premiun, and other stuff. Im just giving out ideas. Im the first that tried lifting this game up by buying a founders pack. But if got for example 5 or 6 friends who like the game but thinks its way to expensive.

Sometimes to earn big money you dont need to sell your stuff more expensivly just sell more and cheaper tipe of like ikea.

Like i said in a post before I would be willing to pay for paint for something like, pay a X amount of MC and unlock the painting editor.

But right now its to expensive. If put for example a lot of money in WOT but never painted a tank cause its also a rip off.

Or maibe dont charge for the colors, and charge for the paint squeme unlocks that would be nice.

Reasons:

1. Because most of the players in any F2P game, are, surprisingly enough, playing for free. That means they don't spend anything. That means no sexy camo for them.

2. I leave my mechs green because I'm voting with my wallet (don't like the prices) and because it will make people more likely to underestimate me (TF2 has shown that people wearing the fanciest headgear and other cosmetic items are taken more seriously than people without hats/other cosmetics).

Camo = Camouflage:the act, means, or result of obscuring things to deceive an enemy, as by painting or screening objects so that they are lost to view in the background, or by making up objects that from a distance have the appearance of fortifications, guns, roads, etc.

Why stand out? If they spot you first, they shoot you first.
If I look like a newbie, and am near somebody in the same mech with Flashy colors, who gets shot first?
Can you see colors in heat vision?

I stick with the PC Gamer black and grey. Works well on most terrains and I like it.

I do have to say, the red, white and blue Atlas' look great.

I also wish the Ilya Muromets paintjob was an available pattern, looks awesome especially after the color change a few patches ago.

Sometimes using a hugely bright ugly color scheme works well. I had the brightest blue and pink-ish colors I could get on my spider. Not only is it annoying with only its machine guns but it is a bright ugly thing moving in and out of my enemy's sight line. I've had at least half their side come after me on caustic. My team was smart enough to go "hey, they're distracted and outgunned...get them now!"

They are pricey and for now only worth getting if you know you won't have to rebuy every time you change cammo or just want to do it for the lol spider idea.

Camo? Personally I am more interested in why not everyone pilot their mechs with fuzzy dices in cockpit?!..I became the "founder" and playing in MWO just for that reason in the first place! :) Why?..What?..and you all are not?..

In my opinion the should charge like 1000 or 1500 mc to unlock the whole painting, like an editor and people would just love it.

This is a good idea. Colors are way too expensive for me and even though they may get more money out of some people who are willing to pay that much many people like me want colors but look at the price and say no way. 1000-3000 MC maybe more for a pack with all the colors/camos including ones being added in the future and I would buy it hands down

I unlocked the 3 layers of colors and 5 or 6 colors (some Camo colors (not Camo Patterns) that were on sale a few weeks back).

I honestly can't see the point in it. I can't see my own mech. I've only had a couple compliments on my sweet-looking mech. I've had ideas about what colors I'd equip based on which map I'd be on... I've been lucky a few times to have my sweet white/light blue mech on some snowy maps, and while moving under ECM cover, I feel invisible. Same with shutdown ambushes. But the map randomization renders the actually utility of this completely unreliable (and I support map randomization, I do not wish to be able to select a map to play on.)

I mean if you like to show people your style, that's fine. I have seen many awesome mech paint jobs, and I tend to compliment them in game. But besides that, there's really no point.

Perhaps if you're running some kind of recruitment campaign or are a famous pilot, you can have friends take great screenshots of you in your preferred badarse paint job, and perhaps players may eventually recognize you by your mech alone. But that would just make you a bigger target. :)

I'll probably be unlocking more paints in the future.

If your mech is too colorful, you become an easier target. I usually run my mechs in tan/white/black for that reason.

I bet a lot of people don't realize that you can purchase some colors with just c-bills.

and then the same thing about not caring.
