I prefer the "Trial Mech" look.

Seriously, I've fooled around with colors and camos, but I honestly didn't like any of them.  I've seen some really cool looking paint schemes in game, but I have no idea how those were created.  The fact that I'm not at all artistically inclined doesn't help either.

How can someone have down the advanced "jewel" painting Technics and lack basic shading or even inking? I mean the Warlord looks better than the Rifleman, but even there the thing could be improved with some really basic technics... even a wash applied to the joints.
I'm a friend(of you and Wackrabbit) so I'll be nice. Pink is not an easy color to work with, washes are not that good on a mech with as few recesses as that mini, the Rifleman could have been a touch better, but jewel and polarized cockpit more than make up for it to me.

A touch of Bias... I sold Wackrabbit several lances of Mechs through E-Bay, so the Rifleman may have once been mine with different paint. :)

A touch MORE bias... he was a fellow member of the BattleCorps Legion  (he piloted an OstScout IIRC)

The c-bill color options (just 4 of them, for 5m total) are, almost trash. it would have to at least double (to 8) or be up to 16 to be worthwhile. Basic Red, Orange, Blue, and Purple does not really combine well enough with the stock green for any useful camo. Best you could do is with Blue and Purple on virtually any mech, with small bits red and/or orange as the tertiary color.

IOW, it's not really worth it and a weak money sink (should be like 1m c-bills each in terms of cost per color IMO).

I wanted to add... the very bare camo system highlights parts of the mech to make it an easier target. So, if you can see the full mech, you can easily decypher where parts of the mech you want to shoot. The Raven's oddball hitboxes becomes easily highlighted with it (making it dreadfully obvious to others), and it is easier to take advantage of it when it overheats...

Mechs, premiun, and other stuff. Im just giving out ideas. Im the first that tried lifting this game up by buying a founders pack. But if got for example 5 or 6 friends who like the game but thinks its way to expensive.

Sometimes to earn big money you dont need to sell your stuff more expensivly just sell more and cheaper tipe of like ikea.

Like i said in a post before I would be willing to pay for paint for something like, pay a X amount of MC and unlock the painting editor.

But right now its to expensive. If put for example a lot of money in WOT but never painted a tank cause its also a rip off.

Or maibe dont charge for the colors, and charge for the paint squeme unlocks that would be nice.

This pretty much sums up my stance. I'm not aversed to put money into a game I enjoy. But at the same time, I won't buy overpriced things.

So far I've only bought mech bays and one mech for MC, and I just recently thought I might want to repaint one of my favorite mechs. Looked at the price, and reconsidered; Green'll have to do.

With the change of the thermal View(only shades of gray, and up to 700m) and the end of Thermalsniperns, camouflage colors are sure to play a much greater role

edit: and you will see the map in the future before choosing the Mechs and the camouflage pattern, in order to adapt to

For myself I doubt it; as my BattleMech picks up enemy signatures often times faster than I do.

Is it really the majority of players that have the basic green color? I feel like most mechs I see have some kind of color on them. I (like many) use the pc gamer colors for now, and I'll probably buy some camos and colors if they ever lower the price or have another sale. I know I can't see my mech in-game, but I just find that green to be irksome whenever I go into my mech bay.

I don't use camo because for me as casual player 100.000 CB is much money (and 1.250.000 sometimes is the result of 1 week of playing!) and I don't spend MC on that as long as I don't see a real benefit (HeatVision) - beside that I think camo is far too expensive in MC at the moment.

i use camo but only as i like to have a cool looking mech. Now I dont expect it to help people to not see me. heck we have a giant red triangle etc hovering over us or have the large red target brackets and this is without thermal. So dont expect to camo up and not be seen. So having said that, if i am going the cool professional i go the woodland below. If i am going the Wasp warning route i take the bright Urban block camo. I get compliments but not alot. But thats not why i did it. I did it for me.

My preferred schemes and colours:

Woodland
- bright white, grey and black.

Urban Block
- bright white, bright lime green and bright red

If they showed all the mechs at the start of the game during warm up from the outside as a 3rd person view then camo would be better. If they allowed you to cam up at the start knowing what you were going to; then there would be more of a point. I mean all white would be awesome for alpine but suck badly for the hot yellow/green/brown crater map.

Why bother when you end up using heat vision 90% of the time.

Plus I cant see my mech, so in all honestly why bother.

Also the new heatvision will be black and white. Anyway, I might consider buying camo if CW is any good and it makes me want to join a faction/merc group. Until then, I don't care.

Well... Why I use only stock cammo? Any other colours are too expensive. That's why.
I'm a casual player (avg. 1 hour a day). So i can play let's say 4 matches a day, this gives me around 400.000 CBs of income a day. It is not much when you want to buy new XL engine, new modules, or weapons, or even new variant just to try it ingame.

I use the PC Gamer and the C-bill colors for my mechs (I bought the c-bill colors when they were on sale for 50% off when they re-did the color pricing).

The MC color prices are a bit steep, even though they are permanently yours and you can re-use them whenever you want. I may consider buying MC colors in the future if they go on sale again for a better price than last time, and if there are some good colors that i want.

Oh look! A red and black camo <insert mech>, let's all shoot at it!

And that is why I keep my green camo. Conformity is the best camouflage. :)
