Of course I want Urbie in the game! Urbie is awesome!

Then again, I also want every 3025 (and eventually 3050 and 3055 TRO mech as well) mech in the game too. I want to see a Clint running around, even though the Clint kinda sucks. I want Vulcans, those scrawny scarecrows, to strut their stuff. I want Dervishes and Whitworths. Assassins and Cyclops. I want Banshees and Chargers and Enforcers, oh my! Crabs and Chameleons! Firestarters, Hatchetmen and Quickdraws! I want every one of the unseen, including the Scorpion and the Goliath!

I want them all, even if many might not "bring something new" to the game according to the MinMaxwarriors and the people who don't care about lore. I want them all because they're part of the Battletech universe and seeing a great variety of chassis running around, even if in effect many of them fill similar roles and would have similar hardpoints, would be abso-freakin-lutely awesomeness!

And awesomest of all would be Urbie! The mech you pilot just because you can, and consequences be damned!

Yeah!

I already see it coming:

Alpine Conquest.
People look around to inspect their team...
Finally the first posts a message: "Have we all dropped in an Urbie?"

That would be absolutely hillarious! :)

So to get the urbie in game we need to give it a ridiculous level of quirks and enhancements? 360 torso twist, shorter than all other mechs, improved jumping, acceleration/decceleration boosts, exceeding the engine limits. If we need this to get the Urbanmech in the game it doesn't need to be in the game. So far all variants of mechs in the game are carbon copies of their TRO equivalents in speed and stats, even the hero YLW matches the stats of that mech. Even if we got a hero Urbie you would still need at least 2 other variants to master it, and they would have to be stock like all other mech designs. Urbanmechs, even in river city, would be the ultimate in glass cannon, especially if they run into a splatcat. I don't wish to rain on anyones parade, but I don't want to see the Urbanmech in game because I don't want a team I drop with to be handicapped. Now if it was on the enemy team, I would love to have light mechs that move slower than my heavy or assault mechs, thats like chum in the water.

Well, was the current mwo engine limitation about being forced to add extra heat sinks in lower power engines? If not then it is a limitation pgi added. By regular setups the urbie is possible

Does the UrbanMech have to viable? Or does it just have to be in the game. I can imagine fans piloting it either way. Hell even i'd have a go.

I don't know how you'd get around the engine issue. I can remember someone saying (someone with a rulebook would have to clarify this) that a sub 100 engine is a ton anyway. So instantly people would put a 100 rated engine in.

Woop! Bleed proof paper and alcohol based pens FTW! You sir are the master of old skool fan art, I fully expect your house to be full of Japanese Manga (in untranslated Japanese), 25 year old Mech Press magazines and flattened Bandai Model boxes. Here's a nod list for your reminiscent pleasure:

Machinen Krieger
Intro Depot
Ghost in the Machine Head
Grey Death

Oh, and every time I see an Urbanmech the tune from Desert Punk starts playing in my head...

The problem with the Urbie is the fact that it cant have ECM - all anyone would have to do to kill it is fire a volley or 2 of LRM's at it. SO far noones even mentioned LRM's, they say it'll die in an instant to splatcats, but I say it would be dead long before that to anything with LRM's.

Never been a fan of the Urbie, and i played TT as well - and if to make it viable you have to add and change a ton of stuff - then it wont be an Urbie any more would it?

Why can't it have ecm? Not coming with it stock doesn't mean it couldn't be made equipable.

It is a ****** performing and ugly ******* mech and everyone knows it. Using an Urbanmech is like that hipster ******* that uses a typewriter instead of a laptop.

Have to admit, very well done concept. Alex would be proud (or so jealous he would probably do it completely different and worse - but I think the first is more appropriate for him since he seems to be a cool guy).

I hope the devs see this. Make the police version a hero mech.

this would be the first light mech I would give a ride.

I prefer to think of it as the singer who doesn't need to use autotune. It certainly can't be worse than a Flea. And Urbie will have you know, he's a Beatnick, not some later day irony lemming.

i'd like to see the urbie appear. might be the only hero mech i'd consider buying just because of the screams of outrage and shame from anyone actually killed by one. yeah it'd probably die a lot but i'm not overly concerned with my k/d ratio anyway.

as for making it work a speed tweak to at least atlas speed would probably be needed just to get it in the ballpark on some maps. i'd even say push torso twist to 210 degrees from 180 and quicker twist speed. may not be able to keep up speedwise but it can keep you in its sights longer. quicker braking/accel rates (seeing how it doesn;t have much speed to speed up or slow down from).

plus one role that people have constantly complained about people doing/not doing. DEFEND THE BASE! get those bigger maps- well we know who should be watching the base from stealth caps from a position of their choosing. even the smaller ones, there's enough cover on most of the base spots for an urbie to hide among. poptart base defense. plus on the smaller maps an urbie won;t be taking that much longer to get to the fight, given how there's the usual minute or two of both sides waiting for the other side to make the first move.

as for being LRM bait- yeah it could do a number on them but will the LRM boat wait the extra minute or so for the urbie to actually get into missile range or will it start firing at that atlas closing in on it- or those fast lights trying to get behind the lrm boat's lines.

"sorry guys you take care of those other assaults getting close- another 50 seconds and that urbie will be in extreme missile range!"
"but the urbie's only 30m outside of range."
"like i said..."

and of course possibly the most trollish move of all time...successful urbie enemy base cap. :)

I would buy one - even a hero only version - in a god damned heartbeat. Even if it sucked enormously I'd buy it.

That said, I'd like to see some quirks to make it at least marginally viable, so I'm not gimping my team when I field it (AND I WILL).

180 degree torso rotation and a massive twist speed buff (to compensate for the tiny engine, and result in a decent, quick twist speed).

Crazy-fast acceleration and braking.

To celbrates its introduction you woud have to a have an URBIE Day. Buffs to C-Bills and XP.

I am new to the world of Mechwarrior, but I am already in love with the Urbanmech. I'm the kind of person where if I had played the earlier games I would be strongly advocating it, just for the reasons all the TT players love it so much. Its small and slow but is so awesome it is iconic. I would surely get a 3 set of variants for mastering out, if for nothing else than the fact that they would be cheap and fun. My first set of 3 was the Atlas, built off of the Founder's AS7-D. My friend had a set of Awesome's and we both wanted something new. The Commando was so cheap I figured I'd pick one up to make some easy C-Bills (R&R still existed). I also liked the idea of having the biggest and smallest mechs in the game at my disposal. I am now working on mastering the TDK, 3A, and AS7-K to complete the collection of my first two mechs. I included this to demonstrate the fact that I will most likely end up buying every variant of the Urbanmech if it makes it into the game :)

Some ideas:

-Boost its C-Bill earnings a bit, in recognition of how cheap it is to buy/maintain an Urbie
-Give it 360-degree torso twist
-If not 360 twist, then a better engine bracket
-Include the missile variants

I have absolutely no want/need for the Urbanmech. I find it supremely uninteresting. The only reason I'd ever use it would be a dare/challenge (like if they had an achievement for killing an Atlas with the Urbanmech). That being said you're artwork is fantastic, good work OP!

Urbie could be viable as a slower light. Moves slowly, but has incredibly fast torso traverse and heavy (ish) guns. I'd like an urbie that could mount an ER PPC and four medium lasers. Would be sweet.
