Urban mech as a module or via command console: allows to place an AI control urban mech on a point on the map under the influence of the team. The urban mech will protect the area (square on the map) where it's been deployed and fire on enemy mech coming in its range.
As a playable mech? Nah, not interested.
I actually like the idea, a lot more interesting than just having turrets defending a base, or such. And as hard as it is to see Commandos nipping on your heel at times, imagine an AC/20 urbie waddling in behind you while you try to cap, to pop a 20 pt shot into your Ravens knee actuator!
that said, I still want a pilotable version, if only because I am a m a s o c h i s t (geez, Canada filters S&M too?)!
And when I get more supplies, and tighten up the newer concept with feedback, I will try to knock out some varients, including my "Deputy Dawg" Police Cruiser Urbie hero mech!!!!! No one is more heroic than the little Urbie that could!

I think you got the look bang on with your police Urbie, not too dustbin-ish, but just dustbin-ish enough. Lose the sirens for the non-hero variant, of course. But what should the hero one be called? The Fuzz? Rozzer? Po Po? Grime and Punishment? (Get it? Grime, 'cause it's a bin, rhymes with crime? See what I did there? No? Ok...) But that new one in your OP looks a bit too... spherical? It looks b*tchin', definitely, but not urbie-style b*tching, if you get my drift.
EDIT: Just remembered an idea for a quirk; seeing as the arms wouldn't have horizontal motion, make it so that torso twist speed is scaled slightly higher with engine size. Example (made up numbers): with a 100 engine, twist rate of 10 deg/sec on a other mechs but say, 12 deg/sec on the urbie; with a 150 engine, 20 deg/sec on other mechs but 24 deg/sec on urbie. Looking back on those numbers, they're complete and utter sh*t but they get across my point.
For the record, my Police Urbie was always called "DEPUTY DAWG". And he fended off many vile Liao incursions with his trusty lance of under paid, over worked Cops!
**Also, I have about 20 variants of Urbie designed back home. As a Cheap mech no one wants in the military, buying up surplus stock was a cheap, easy proposition. You will never make Urbie too fast, but he is versatile. My Lance of 3 Urbies and 1 Panther (Eventually became 4 Urbie when the Panther landed in front of an Annihilator...... ) gave people some serious headaches bACK IN SOME tt TOURNEYS IN THE 90S. People would underestimate you, follow you back into the city, then die horrible painful deaths from ninja urbie commandos!
