I think you got the look bang on with your police Urbie, not too dustbin-ish, but just dustbin-ish enough. Lose the sirens for the non-hero variant, of course. But what should the hero one be called? The Fuzz? Rozzer? Po Po? Grime and Punishment? (Get it? Grime, 'cause it's a bin, rhymes with crime? See what I did there? No? Ok...) But that new one in your OP looks a bit too... spherical? It looks b*tchin', definitely, but not urbie-style b*tching, if you get my drift.

EDIT: Just remembered an idea for a quirk; seeing as the arms wouldn't have horizontal motion, make it so that torso twist speed is scaled slightly higher with engine size. Example (made up numbers): with a 100 engine, twist rate of 10 deg/sec on a other mechs but say, 12 deg/sec on the urbie; with a 150 engine, 20 deg/sec on other mechs but 24 deg/sec on urbie. Looking back on those numbers, they're complete and utter sh*t but they get across my point.

I feel as though the urbie would be the favored sniper merely because its size would make it so difficult to hit at a distance. AC/20 fire from nowhere... hilarious, slap an ECM on one and you got problems.

I've runned fake urban mechs and have done decently. A real one would do better.

The 360 torso twist is one of Urbanmechs secret weapons. Some drawings look like urbie is the command center, like a portable control tower with not ownly 360 twist but a 360 view.

Every map in the game is a urban map because they all provide cover. With a good pilot your not just fighting urbanmech, your fighting him and his cover. popup cannon.

No one keeps a stock mech, with urbanmech you might because it works. You can take a spider and come close to a STOCK urbie.

That means a real uribie would be this AND some. Endo, ferro, faster engines.

One day the band will get back together again.......

Look you got classic urbie, one with arm and hand actuators installed battle axes, 8 machine guns..... You know some Timberwolf saw that and said fk that.....

Most powerful weapon of Urbanmech is that Captain Morgan he's got going on.

Got a little Urbie in you?

They totally should add the Urbanmech, keep it in line, 1 ballastic, 2 energy HPs, max engine size will allow it to go 64 km/h and it should be hero only for 3000 MC.

God knows you people that want this POS would buy it, and the people that would never have used it (the bulk) still won't while not having to worry about new players purchasing it

can't really do any finish work til I get back to the states and gather my art supplies, and well, a scanner, but just like FD or others, I ain't claiming to perfection in one swell foop, more likely, a series of concepts that eventually breed a single cogent unit based off multiple concept elements.

Urban mech as a module or via command console: allows to place an AI control urban mech on a point on the map under the influence of the team. The urban mech will protect the area (square on the map) where it's been deployed and fire on enemy mech coming in its range.

As a playable mech? Nah, not interested.

I actually like the idea, a lot more interesting than just having turrets defending a base, or such. And as hard as it is to see Commandos nipping on your heel at times, imagine an AC/20 urbie waddling in behind you while you try to cap, to pop a 20 pt shot into your Ravens knee actuator!

that said, I still want a pilotable version, if only because I am a m a s o c h i s t (geez, Canada filters S&M too?)! :P

And when I get more supplies, and tighten up the newer concept with feedback, I will try to knock out some varients, including my "Deputy Dawg" Police Cruiser Urbie hero mech!!!!! No one is more heroic than the little Urbie that could!

For the record, my Police Urbie was always called "DEPUTY DAWG". And he fended off many vile Liao incursions with his trusty lance of under paid, over worked Cops!

**Also, I have about 20 variants of Urbie designed back home. As a Cheap mech no one wants in the military, buying up surplus stock was a cheap, easy proposition. You will never make Urbie too fast, but he is versatile. My Lance of 3 Urbies and 1 Panther (Eventually became 4 Urbie when the Panther landed in front of an Annihilator...... ) gave people some serious headaches bACK IN SOME tt TOURNEYS IN THE 90S. People would underestimate you, follow you back into the city, then die horrible painful deaths from ninja urbie commandos!

Where's the "I don`t care" option in the poll? Maybe option doesn`t cut the mustard, because I know I don`t care either way, and I don`t feel a need to explain why and halt the entertainment for that period.

But if you all really want one and just can`t live without, maybe they can put one in the training grounds for the MG users and "I`ve been nerfed/ Weapon X is OP now, heres the video" people. :P

Well now, that looks less spherical, somehow (or am I seeing things?), and much more urbie-like. I think you should still retain the urbie's wide-but-thin cockpit window, however. I like the chunky-ness of the legs as well as the weapon blocks, not to big but still chunky, giving the appearance of something slow and deliberate. Fitting.

LoL no but I've played enough TT, and BT 3025 to know they just don't work in both settings. Slow, easy to hit. Autocannon arm is easy to pop off than ignore the Urbie

The only way to make it work is to either break the rules or give it some redonk quirk that shouldn't exist. MY plan satisfies you Urbie lovers while keeping how many we see low, and generates a nice chunk of change for PGI :P

edit: I will admit I like your design for it and I voted that way but still :P

Is Urbie an uncompetitive mech?

Obviously.
And i am realistic enough to know it will gather dust in my mechbay.

But I would definately buy it.

The release day will be hillarious and there will be occassional "Let´s do an Urbie premade just for the fun of it"

The day we swarmed that Atlas with Urbies will always be remembered.

Heh, Urbie IS partly for the lolz, bro, lol. But I actually did find ways to use him effectively in TT, and have some near urbie builds that are workable on here even.... but yeah, in TT, you generally weren't siccing Urbie against a Highlander that can do everything Urbie does... only better. (BV helped there) That said, while there is no real "competitive" place for Urbie, some of us also like drops for the fun, and I think there are a lot of us who would play with it just because w can!

Competitive by what standard? tonnage?

Team atlas 8 AS7-k vs 26 urbanmechs.

Cbills?

Team atlas has 8 AS7-K. vs 74 urbanmechs. The most horrible scary thing is all 74 of those urbies got a shot on you and in the unlikelyhood they don't.....they jump jet.

Your going to field a army you gonna take 8 atlas? or 74 urbanmechs?

Maybe we could go with cheaper atlas. so thats 8 vs just 50 urbanmechs. And you know those urbies are going to packed tight......that first atlas that shows up is getting shot by a ac/500.

......And guess what, you wandered into our school, of URBANMECHS and we now have a taste of blood! We’ve talked, to ourselves. We’ve communicated and said, ‘you know what? ATLAS tastes good. Lets go get some more ATLAS.’
We’ve developed a system, to establish a beachhead and aggressively hunt atlas and your Lance. And we will corner your atlas, your lance, your baby atlas, and your atlas girlfriend…” :P

That creaking sound in your closet that keeps you up at night, peeking over your covers. That's no Boogieman, Colonel Sanders, that's Urbie creeping out of the dark recesses of your base primordial fears........

We know the reason you people post so vehemently against us is you secretly fear and dread the Urbanmech. Tuck those blankets in tight mr Atlas...... maybe they'll keep you safe from those things that go bump in the night, until morning comes... wait, did morning really come, or has the nightmare simply begun again.......

Wow, that one looks a lot better this time around. The knees look right and the AC/10 isn't a railgun anymore. My only OCD beef that I can think of off the top of my head this time is that the cockpit on yours is more "centralized" than the classic art (which has windows going all around the entire torso).

...Speaking of which, having a cockpit that lets you see everything within a 360 degree radius of you might be a nice little perk for the Urbie (you can't see it all at once, obviously, you have to move your mouse faster than your torso can twist for the pilot's view to go faster than the mech).

Good point, and the "Ring of Windows" (if those are what they actually are, which I dunno if it has ever been really stated, but I always assumed so, lol) is one of the mods I plan to add. I figure on a mech as cheaply mass produced as the Urbie was, and in the numbers, you will see differing "models" even if the specs are essentially the same, kind of like the ways the glass on an old Chevy Apache pick up shifted from one model year to the next. Add a dozen or so factories producing it, and there you go. But I will indeed play with that feature.

Being that slow, peripheral awareness and the ability to point the guns anywhere, FAST, are crucial to life, for sure!

I like the drawing because its more in line with the idea that urbie is in the jagermech somewhere. :P

The style is very MWO. I wouldn't be suprised if this is what they got in mind.
