Inevitably, some 'mechs will be more or less popular than others. It can be irritating to have a "pet 'mech," and then discover that 30% of all players are running the same choice. Variants and customization aside, one chassis will be more popular than every other. Of the 'mechs we have so far, which will be the ubiquitous choice?

I think we'll see a lot of Atlas pilots. One it's got a very human shape, it's also really big and has a lot of weapons and armor. People seem to like that in their giant killer robots.

If PGI sees fit to restrict players into 1 of 4 Mechs (1 per class), numerically, you'll see those chassis skew your numbers.

If PGI does not offer a way where you can "try out a chassis in an 'offline' mode" then you'll see people more hesitant to buy a chassis since they don't know what to expect with it.

Definately the Catapult. It brings heavy mech firepower with medium mech movement. Plus the 2K variant is the closest thing people will have to a Maurader or Warhammer. And the mech is so versitile that it makes perfect sense for a starter mech. The Catapult is the Jeep of MWO.

The second most popular mech will be the Jenner, and the only reason I say second most popular is because I think more people will want a heavy for thier first mech, but I am willing to bet almost everyone has one of these in their stable. Fast movement, arm mounted weaponry, jump jets. This mech has medium mech punch with (faster than) light mech speed (FTL joke).

I voted Commando...simply because the idea of everyone going commando amuses my inner child.

As much as I hate to say this, I voted for the atlas, honestly, it's the biggest availible mech it'll be super popular for a few weeks and most of the users will suffer attrition because it's not really what they assumed it was leaving the serious pilots and hardcore drivers left to own the chassis and do incredible stuff with it.

You almost make me want to get a Catapult. Just because im a Jeep guy (own 3, all built for rock crawling and trailing, and they get used too)

I think the inner kid as well as habits from older MW games, and human nature in general will gravitate new and older players alike to the biggest heaviest thing they can find, at first anyway. So Atlas. Even I am starting with an Atlas, though for a different reason. Mostly I want a command mech that can get in the middle of things and coordinate my team, then get out alive.

Most popular will be Atlas, simply because so many people go by the philosophy "Bigger = better"

Most armor and guns will make people flock to it. Unless another 100t mech is in at launch, in which case things could be up in the air a bit.

I would guess heavy to assualt, only because in the normal game it will problably take allot longer to earn the c-bill to purchase one of those while a light wont be as bad a cost. They have already said in the begining the matchmaking system is just going to try to keep the weight even on the two sides for the battles so wont really matter what anyone will run at first.Hopefully they will let you sell your mech back to the game if you dont like what you got and get c-bill back from it to buy something more to your liking.

Think this will depend on what the 4 starting mechs we will be able to choose from.

My money though is on the Hunchback. Pretty sure it will be one of the starters, and is already is one of the Founders mechs.

I voted Atlas. I think a lot of people will take it because they will figure that since it is the biggest, will have the best survivability.

How many slots are free2play accounts going to have in hangar? Is it going to be like STO, where for each tier (5) you earn a ship token for 1 basic ship (cruiser, escort, science ship, shuttlecraft) and add extra slot. Do you start with a light mech and progress upward? How many tier are going to be in MWO? I want to end up with 1 of each weight class as free2play. If i pay real money i would want one of each mech. Is there going to be different servers like DDO or just one common server like STO. Yeah i hope there is a way to try before you buy a mech also.
