Lower your front armor, and you can raise your rear.

The JM's torsos in regard to XL engines are fine, but the head seems to be a missile magnet. The head attracts LRMs from the front and even takes splash damage when missiles hit the rear torso. Also, the head is easier to hit than a catapult's >_>

I see lots of people complaining about low armor... Everyone does realize, you can change your armor to match what you want, right?

I think people are angry about how for a viable (because everyone is obsessed with that word), load out you need to sacrifice a lot of armor.

It seems that it's a glass cannon.

I have a feeling the biggest problem with the Jager is going to be the one model is absolutely superior to the others...

I was running with 2xAC20... then thought to myself, with missiles being this borked, Ill go back and buy the missile variant for some quick exp... go to the store and... VOILA...same variant!

Terrible torso twist speed combined with large hitboxes makes this mech not worth much. A cataphract can still out fire support it and dies too fast from skirmishers.

Where's the "0/10, would not bang" option? The Jagermech is just too damn ugly for me. No point killing if you ain't killing in style.

It's appropriate that the JM6-DD can rock the AC/20 x2 cheese build to lethal effect.

DD's have always been the death of me.

It's a 65 ton Awesome with slightly more interesting hardpoints, but hitboxes that make it very vulnerable.

There is no feasible reason to choose a Jagermech over a 'Pult or 'Phract.

6 ballistic slots aren't worth a whole lot on a 65 ton mech. Dakka all you want with 6 AC2s if you must, but it's a beast on heat and if you carry 4 tons of ammo the max damage you can put out if you hit with *every single round* is 600 points.

The armor is craptacular as well. Load up 4 AC5s and enough ammo to last through a match, but you're gonna need an XL and you can't get anywhere even NEAR max armor, so your engine is gonna be toast in a hurry (not counting the massive issue with the head hitbox..... yes, this problem again).

AC40 + XL

Don't get me wrong, the hitboxes look atrocious, but 40 points of precision damage at splatcat speed is going to see use. Cataphract's viable with similarly terrible hitboxes, after all.

3xLRM15(20) + self tagging. Catapult cant do that either.

Can't C4 do that tho? But I did hear that the missile version of the Jagermech has a hilarious number of tubes.

Clearly this is the answer

You clearly do not understand the true nature of Dakka. THAR IS NEVAR ENUFF, YA GIT!! YA NEEDS MOAR DAKKA! ENUFF DAKKA IS MOAR'N YOU GOT, AND THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS ENUFF DAKKA! Say thar is again, and me squiggoth's eatin' good tonight!

Truth be told, I don't seen any viable build but an XL engine (Since, no matter what, the damn thing is dying quickly, anyways), and either 2 UAC/5 + whatever else, or 2 AC/20 with medium lasers, with armor as high as possible (I recommend an XL280, since it leaves you with enough tonnage to make up for the crap armor)

The Jager's head seems to be an LRM magnet. Until that's fixed, I can't rate it very highly.

That may or may not be everyone's head right now :P But it would 0% surprise me if PGI released the Jagermech with a huge head because that would be, what, the 5th mech they've done that with?

Perhaps. I usually play lights and when they get hit with the LRM rain somehow my head remains unscathed. Everything else however...
