There is a massive difference in game play design. What you listed was a business and economic design, not gameplay design.

Business design dictates gameplay design, every...single...time

Hardly, means perk up and listen, but do not bolt at the first sound you hear. Prey runs, the hunter is patient and alert.

You're not a hunter. You're a guy behind a keyboard.

Can we not get all fanfiction in a thread please? it's creepy.

Shoo! Back under the bridge for now, grown-ups are talking.

That's pretty deep man. Completely and totally irrelevant. Or you need arresting or sectioning, but I'll be generous and go with not assuming you're a stalker/serial killer with a fetish for canadian programmers.

The advantage of 3rd person is not just seeing the enemy around corners and so forth. It is also being able to see the terrain around you. It give you a massive advantage of situational awareness when it comes to moving. The only way to block that would be to not render nearly all the screen. that would be horrid.

Massive? I already know the maps. I mean sure it would help someone unfamilar with the terrain but... yeah I already know what's there.

As I stated before, there is no credibility to PGI anymore. Just think back the promises made.
  • Community Warfare
  • No Coolant Flush
  • No 3rd Person
  • Clan Invasion timeline
  • Among many other things in the supposed "Roadmap"
How can we take a "professional company" as PGI serious? Where is their integrity?

I'm guessing they ran out of the 5 Mil capital they made, and now they're scrambling to put more shineys on the table to a: get people to buy things and b: get more people in game so they can be attracted to buy things.

I'm no longer holding my breath on CW or any promises, it's all about the money like any other company.

there is none. also no respect for a 30 year old or so franchise, no respect for the player base or the title. For a company this new to make such a caustic mistake is telling. Its going to kill the title off for one, and quite potentially the PR backlash from this may black list the company as well in many players books.

Guys, I hate to break it to you, but 3rd Person is already in the game. They call it Mechlab view. Might as well pack up your bags and ragequit now.

Even worse, you can access 3rd person view in match. To do so, run up to an enemy splatcat and stand still.

Notice how the forum isn't inundated with posts about coolant after it's been in use for a while. There aren't even any coolant threads on the first page. Nobody's fighting it because it's not that useful. I hope you don't run out of meme pictures to use, lil' Thirdstar.

Wow, you sure got jimmy rustled.

Not really. If it did, this would already be playing like WoT and it plays pretty much nothing like WoT.

...Begin Rant...

No! Other than respawns, 3rd person is the thing that would irritate me the most if it was to be added to MWO. Do not coddle to the unskilled losers who want to turn MWO into their secure little fun-time area. If you are hell-bent on introducing 3rd person to this game, then restrict it to the Training Grounds only, the people who want 3rd person would love it, they can destroy eight mechs and not take any damage while in their 3rd person view!

Also, do not hide important news like this on Twitter, Facebook, or Reddit, continue the debate here, on the forums which you created and which are also inhabited by your biggest supporters as well as your biggest detractors. People who are too afraid of these forums, are probably the ones who mostly believe that this game is too difficult.

Finally, I am going to withhold any money which I was going to spend on MWO in the near future (and I do spend far more on this game than any sane person should), until you (PGI) respond on this forum and detail how this 3rd person mode is going to be implemented.

....End Rant...

I think you are assuming some sort of free camera mode instead of a chase cam for spectate mode.

"Splat in C5, he's low on ammo and his RT ear is nearly popped, should be easy pickings if you pincer him."

"Atlas with a Com and a 3L running interference, approaching E4-F5 towards your position."

"They're all at Kappa, most of them are damaged from those last barrages. Land them 500m from your last target and they should flush out rather than risk another pelting."

Even if it's restricted to allied chasecams, that's still a second 360-scope set of eyes that can focus purely on scanning for hostiles and weapons fire locations.

"Watch your six, just saw two Jenners moving onto your left flank. Fade right towards our heavies and they'll cover you."

"Don't hit open ground, their LRM support is coming from your far front, two o'clock about 650m."

if they implement it, it will kill the game, and harm PGI because the backlash alone with be huge. They are risking financial ruin purely because a significant portion of Founders will demand all monies paid into them back based on false advertising. They are also shattering a key design pillar. Fare Well MechWarrior Online, you HAD potential, but it was tossed away by a caustically fatally bad choice.

If they continue down the path of producing a game that has nothing to do with what they advertised yes. The founders program in it's nature and symbolism could easily be pressed as a class action leading to financial ruin for PGI if they can't deliver the product that was promised.

Needs to be repeated more often.

Why should the playerbase continue to believe everything the Devs promise?

A more appropriate saying in this instance would be "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Don't wait for them to make their mistakes before you try and correct it. There are precedents for all of these things. We aren't jumping at shadows.

You people fail to understand the simple concept that every single thing being developed for this game is to mirror World of Tanks. EVERY SINGLE THING. Why? Because it is successful and they have no idea what they are doing so they are trying to follow a successful business model in a similar genera. Look at the things that they have released so far:

Premium Mechs/Tanks /// Check
Premium Camo for Mechs/Tanks /// Check
Premium Colors for Mechs/Tanks /// Check
Consumables that can be purchased with both Non Premium and Premium Currency (that's coolant flush btw) /// Check
Purchase Non Premium Currency with Premium Currency (buying for MC and selling for Cbills) /// Check
Transferring Exp to Global Exp /// Check

Cmmon now...3rd person mode is just the next natural progression for this clone

Hurr I will copy successful game without understanding reasons behind why that model works for that game. Surely I have the exact same set of circumstances for my game, right? RIGHT? RIIIGHT?!?
