That's true, but Twitter cost no money compared to a national TV campaign and it's essentially quickly done by one person so it's closer to winging it.

What? No. People have lost their jobs/livelihood because of Twitter goofs. It is most certainly very serious business.

He's an obvious shill, or a very new guy. ignore him like the rest, man.

Anyone who claims twitter isn't serious business in 2013 shouldn't be replied to,

Vassago ringing in his pets again I see. But you're just proving my point, this thread is useless and there's nothing game relevant to discuss yet.

I dont even understand how the **** 3rd person would even cater to casuals, seriously, how? Wouldn't it just make it more confusing for them? Imagine, as a light, I could run to your front and hug your legs and you wouldn't be able to hit me or see **** because of your mech in the way.

I mean sure, you can just switch view modes right? Oh wait, the documentation for new players in this game is terrible, it requires them to visit the website and read, which, lets be honest, hardly any of the majority of the players do, hell, half the pubs I've seen don't even read the patch notes, half of them don't even KNOW how ECM actually works (I remember before the jager came out, I enthusiastically asked everyone in chat if they were ready for it, and someone told me "how do you know it wont be the Orion?" I mean seriously? IT WAS ON THE FRONT PAGE.".

If it'll be anything like the MW4 3rd person view, I can't see it helping at all, I can only really imagine a bunch of issues it would have, just imagine the horrible camera clipping issues you'd have in the tunnel on River City, or in the cave on Forest Colony.

For gods sake, if I could play Mechwarrior 2 Mercs as a 6 year old without the aid of third person I don't see why the hell some 20-30something year old can't take a few minutes of dicking around in the testing ground to acclimate himself to the controls, instead of introducing something that completely ruined any sort of "tactics" in MW4 and hardly anyone wants.

advocates passionately for third person view ....

Yeah so here is the fundamental problem with your arguments

your belief that players are frustrated when they can not detect when some one is behind them is flawed .

Using terrain, obstacles and remaining out of view of ones target is a major game play element in its self .

what you are calling an exploit, is basic game play, down right core game play in many games.

its almost a required mechanic .

Yet your arguing that the players should have some sort of mode where they can easily check their six and see whats in their immediate vicinity.

Im not even sure if i can convey how fundamentally flawed this is .

But we are not playing dodge ball here . were supposedly playing a mechanized warfare game where the main purpose is to use terrain mobility and fire power to engage and eliminate your targets .

removing the essential necessity of evasive maneuvers from the game by incorporating a 3rd person perspective to allow for greater awareness is detrimental to the core foundation of the game .

The game is designed for a first person perspective . even the mechs show forethought into first person perspective

part of the flavor and immersion of this game relies on first person view . some mechs have limited field of view others can see a whole lot more of the battle field.

this diversifies mechs and provides for greater replayability because it encourages users to try different mechs and different play styles based of the mechs inherent strengths and weaknesses.

adding 3rd person view to the game would eliminate this fundamental element and make the game into a more generic run and gun shooter.

essentially the two ideologies are incompatible and there is no room for third person view in mechwarrior online.

Yup. It was a corporate account. That means business. He's working. There's plenty of crap I'll spout in a pub, infront of the boss, that would get me in front of a dismissal hearing in ten minutes if I voiced it anywhere near a patient.

Workface is for work.

Derpface is for derp.

In this case, Workface has derped.

Because they're stupid, and don't think things through. Someone is convinced if you make it exactly like MW4, you can attract more people.

We know from *20* years of mechwarrior games, that's not how it works.

It's either a true statement and thus worthy of this crapstorm, or it is yet another fool in piranha clothing running his gate for his private lulz, and thus worthy of this crapstorm. If true it is a deal-breaker for a large portion of the playerbase, and if false, it is a display of poor company management and internal communication. Trolls are not the mindset you want in your PR department. There is not a way you can slice this that makes them look good.

I was willing to tolerate all the hipster bullsh1t with Paul being 'a troll,' and Garth's uselessness and how he spills spaghetti all over the place. It was something I expect from a new company, you know? They have to be allowed to make mistakes, test the waters. Yes, even when Garth went on the dumbest posting spree of all time, with the 3 second jenners, and the I'D LIKE TO SEE YOUR GAME!-saga.

But it's been quite the long time, and now I'm not interested in their stupditity anymore. I don't want to be told one thing, and find out another through third party digging. This damocles sword of 3rd person is making everything unpleasant. Revolting. That they just come on here, snark, and then hide on reddit for a few days? It makes me look like a professional. I want them to act like adults.

If they can't, they should be replaced by people who can.

Aye, It's a crapstorm one way or another.

(Anyone have a time machine so I can jump about 2 years ahead and read the 'Tell All' blog post about what really happened at PGI?)

I've been playing this game since November. I've dropped money for mech bays, cockpit items, paint, and even a little premium time. I've been a big fan of MWO since I first heard about it. I was very happy with Febuary's patch, and excluding the consumables I have been relatively happy with March's patch (so long as they get hotfixes for the Jager's hitbox and LRMS out)

Watching PGI repeatedly shoot themselves in the mouth, miss deadlines, and go back on their word is making me regret the time and money I've put into MWO, and makes me skeptical to put any more in at all. There are no clans in MWO. There are no destructible bases, or complex game modes. There is no organized private game system for 8man's.. Their map pipeline is incredibly slow (though showing signs of improvement). Their release schedule has been overly optimistic for well over half a year. They have no advertising sense and do nothing to market the game (you have all that beautiful concept art and aren't using it?!), and they have no planned presence at PAX or GDC.

There is no real logic or transparency as to how or why these decisions are being implemented, and the small fanbase keeping MWO alive continues to suffer for them. The fact that the founders program was used to finance Mech Warrior Tactics (which is producing such gems of art and design) instead of furthering the development of the game donators assumed they were supporting itself is incredibly shameful. I don't know if I can last until June, or whenever Community Warfare is given rudimentary implementation. At the rate the game is going I doubt I'll make it to the Clans... if they even get added at all. (Like those Dropships we continue to get promised). I can't in good faith even recommend MWO without a heavy warning to avoid spending cash on the game in its present state despite its tremendous improvements in the last 2 months.

I'm starting to deeply regret investing the time and money that I have put into MWO and PGI is doing little to show me they can be trusted at the wheel anymore.

By that time Blogs have been outlawed in the United States as part of an ongoing crackdown on science's attacks on the American Way of Life.

Everywhere else they're just obsolete, only used for trolling 'cybercops'.
