lets face facts: PGI honestly <from a PR standpoint because it sure looks this way> has no respect for the title, no matter what they say, nor do they respect us, because if they did <on either or both> they would have said: we see you guys do not want it, we will shelve it, move on, and find ways to fix this game and make it better that wont result in a huge PR backlash.

did they do THAT? nope. they stuck their fingers in their ears, started screaming: LALALALALALA we cant hear you" and this is the result.

what integrity?

That's not really entirely accurate. If they respected us they'd either do what you outlined, OR tell us third person is coming, no ifs ands or buts about it. We understand our forum community doesn't care for it, but you're getting it anyhow, end of discussion.

It's the beating around the bush and not coming right out that's more agitating then anything else.

They did mention how they were going to implement this in great detail.

I'm guessing they ran out of the 5 Mil capital they made, and now they're scrambling to put more shineys on the table to a: get people to buy things and b: get more people in game so they can be attracted to buy things.

I'm no longer holding my breath on CW or any promises, it's all about the money like any other company.

The 5 million mostly went to two completely unrelated games.

Uh oh, a different perspective for the game is coming.

Been in discussion since Closed Beta.

It's not the end of the world.

actually, it will be. We clearly do not want this feature. They clearly do not give a damn that we do not want it. They clearly are ignoring the fan base, and are about to create a PR nightmare at best, and financial ruin at 2nd best. See, they are actively looking for a way to open the door to a class action lawsuit, because this will become a clear case of bait and switch, sadly only the founders can get in that, as we are the ones directly affected financially, because SOME of us would clearly have NOT gone founder had they been up front about the 3rd person thing from the start, but, since they clearly posted in obvious locations + a clearly visible thread from a lead designer stating their intention to NOT do this, opens that door.

uestioning their integrity

We're here now, but some people are afriad to be what with the moderation frowning on the behaviour of those that are trying to bring attention to the important subjects. Some probably feel like they'd just be wasting their time I'm sure. I know that I feel that I'm remiss in that I should have been here posting earlier and more often.

If it's for any live matches, nyet! ******* coolant flushes and lock-arms-to-torso ****** mode are bad enough...

I sent Paul a PM with this thread's link in it. Maybe more of us send the same, we have more than a ice cube's chance in hell of getting a reply.

ice cube has a better chance. I PM'd mr eckman, mr bullock and Omid Kiarostami over the course of a month, starting with mr eckman on 2-15-13 and no reply from any of them on this very subject...

As I stated before, there is no credibility to PGI anymore. Just think back the promises made.
  • Community Warfare
  • No Coolant Flush
  • No 3rd Person
  • Clan Invasion timeline
  • Among many other things in the supposed "Roadmap"
How can we take a "professional company" as PGI serious? Where is their integrity?

Promises promises promises. Sorry, this isn't politics, it's business.

Judging by some of the things they've rolled out after internal testing, I doubt it will derail any of the major fixes very long. Doubly since the major fixes are forever in coming anyway.

Then maybe more of the 'hardcore' fans should have paid money. No, I'm not digging you. I'm digging the people who sit there admitting they've paid zero so far and complain about everything PGI does. PGI is a business, with evil overlord businesses who want to make money off Mechwarrior. Bosses do not care about IPs, or fans, or legacies. They care about bonuses. Bonuses come from financially successful products. If people wanted the true-to-legacy game, more of them probably should have paid. PGI's evil overlords went the way of the most likely payout.

COD titles sell like hell, and are also fun if you are not complete arse at them. Or maybe you think they're too easy. Whatever, the sales figures speak for themselves. You can contrast BO2s sales with MOH-Warfighter if you want proof that not all shooters are created equally.

Sorry to break it to some of you - those who enjoy 'hard' video games with serious learning curves and significant simulator elements are not the majority, no matter how vocal they are in a forum. Games are made to sell product, not cater to die hard fans. The ones made for die hard fans are often significantly underfunded, slow to release, totally free, and/or die off too soon.

Are you insane??? Arma has one of the most hardcore community out there and its a thriving supported fanbase which is still giving Bohemia money! From which planet did you come from??? Casuals dont make a game, true fans make a game!

I'm sorry dude, but your argument is totally invalid

This is from the founders ALONE. More than enough to fund the entire production of the game. Fans are holding this game up. Fans are the only ones really interested in this franchise. If you don't pander to fans, you're going to ruin your profit potential. Plain and simple.

Your average console chucklenut isn't going to be attracted to Mechwarrior. It's too slow, too deep, and too complex for him to be interested in it. This is a simple fact. The fans of the franchise are going to be your core. Milk them for all they're worth.

^THIS!

Probably. Maybe they need more dollars before they can buy the MW4 license, so Paul can have the mechwarrior of his dreams, with all the coolant, the third person, the big audience, and everything else?

Because that was so successful with MW2.

And MW3.

And MW4...

And mechassault.

They just don't learn, do they? Or are they too dumb to learn? too desperate for money? Will the CoD audience eat this up? Is it like that time when they told us there's a HUGE number of people 'at conventions' who want to play, but not unless there's third person? I don't see those people give them 5 million on the basis of a dream.

Just a bunch of liars. Big egos, big words. No delivery, and no shame.

^Again another logical voice speaks, not that PGI is listening! You know what PGI, grow some courage and do a official statement on this for once, yay or nay! And like adults accept the consequences of your actions. Newsflash you're not a 18 year old cheerleader promissing us the biggest sex night of our lives at prom, in fact you're looking mighty ugly to me right now!

was even more clear before the poll prior to mine that you linked vanished. was 5k and change in the NO boat vs like 300 in the YES boat... the statistical validity of my poll that you linked or the prior one that vanished, clearly state an over whelming majority saying NO.

2 things..

First, I can't wait for third person view! Thank you PGI for making decisions that are in the best interest of the game. You will attract more customers, who will in turn buy more camo so they can admire it in third person view.

Second, off all the Mech Warrior games to date, how many had third person view?

A very carefully and specifically worded developer's post might calm things down. Otherwise it might just fuel the fire. Part of the problem here is it can appear to an outside observer that everyone on the inside isn't on the same track.

they did it with ECM for months is this THAT big a surprise?

worse yet is the fact that we should have nice juicy bits of info on the clans TODAY, but do we? nope. soo many things they are blowing off. This game has enough issues as it is, they clearly do not care to fix them, they clearly want to break this game, anger its fans and kill the title. the PR backlash will be worse than the Tsunami that was generated after the 6 mile wide rock touched down and obliterated the dinosaurs 65 million years back... that event will look like a childs cork gun compared to whats about to happen.

And when you sell people something you do not deliver on and even offer the opposite, you do not get money; but you do get a bad reputation so that less people will give you money in future. That is called bad business. If your most successful product is a fishing game, followed by DNF, followed by tanking a beloved IP, that is also called bad job prospects for the future.
