It's 40k going back to its 2nd edition roots. Really, that's all there's to it.

GW are really stupid businessmen, and not very good at writing rules, but they've survived an extremely long time just by keeping their brand consistent, and appealing to their actual audience, who they know for a fact brings in more players for them - as long as product and material stays consistent.

That's sorta the issue. They've more or less ditched the old stuff completely now. Going by the recent fic I've been shown it's now more or less a requirement for a Space Marine to solo a Bloodthirster to be seriously considered for the rank of Captain. A lot of it is appealing to the new younger gamer, especially since they're less sensitive to the recessions.

While I don't disagree this is a wildly unpopular idea, since this is not the first thread of its kind over the last year and a half, it appears a majority of these posts are from the same dozen or so posters who stayed up all night posting about this.

Or you could just look at the 3rd person poll and notice that over 1000 people voted "no" to 3rd person, or are you going to say that those people are "all the same dozen or so posters who stayed up all night"?

3rd person is a camera angle. There's pretty much only one way to do it and it always gives a better view of your surroundings compared to 1st person. The downside of 3rd person is that you lose distance.

I would imagine if they do implement 3rd person, I would be playing 1st person normally until a light mech starts circling me, then I would switch to 3rd person to see his movements better around me.

No, it's a complete return to things from the late 80 and early 90s, which you weren't there for, but I was. For instance, grey knights.

They're now back to how they were for all bar one tiny, tiny codex during late 3rd edition, that few cared about, where the knights themselves had about as much information available as PGI puts on this here website., and that does include the terrible fanfictions they put out for hero mechs.

Serious issues with 40k aren't tied at all to lore, but currently to rules. They're awful right now, and the game's losing players because of this.

Which is still nothing compared to MWO if they attempt to fit a 3rd person view in, that WILL drive oldies like me off (already played MW4, thank you very much), and leave a barren wasteland of poptarters to take my place. In the end, them doing that won't do **** for anyone's best interests.

The game is totally screwed up right now with splash damage and LRM/ECM imbalance. We have no way to play with uneven groups, No community warfare, no way to organize play, no lobby and no clans. Now I understand what they have been doing all this time. Not working on clan assets, CW and bug fixes but working on something very very few people actually want! I have spent ALOT of money on this game but rest assured I will not spend another dime till they get their heads outta the sand.

And the Polls, there have been more than just one on the subject as well. Everyone of them had a overwhelming number of votes against adding 3rd Person Views.

Man, I don't even need two mechs a month. If we had a few game modes that weren't simply revolving around capture the red square(s) I'd be able to swallow only having the hunch, catapult, jenner and atlas still at this point. They keep working on all these frills and other junk when at the core we've still only got a barely functional game.

The real kicker is that over time they upgraded the red square to an oil rig, and now said oil rig has a pretty looking laser boundary around it, heavily suggesting these game types are more than just placeholders now.

If "community warfare" is simply going to make it so when I capture the oil rig in the game a color changes on a galaxy map, just tell me now so I don't have to waste my time here.

As I stated, I know for a fact this is an unpopular idea. Not trying to defend it in the least either.

Just saying that out of 657 replies so far, Vassago Rain has made 43 of those alone, and there are several other repeat posters. My comment was in regards to the number of pages, not the poll results.

You have 11 posts yourself. Mazzyplz has 30. Thirdstar has 39. Jakucha has 33. The five of you make up 1/4 of the posts in this entire thread.

I would be surprised if its not. Was expecting that from the start. I was also expecting some fun game modes though. They better give us that.
