Or we can employ common sense, and stop raving like a lunatic about mechanics that you know nothing about from a point of knowledge, programming, design, or implementation.

I've been at this for so long, all I've got left is raving.

The attraction of Mechwarrior is that it's a simulater, not a first person shooter or a third person shooter. I hope this makes sense because I know the difference but I just cant explain it well.

I blame drifting for ruining the game. find him. ;) if the day comes that 3rd person "ruins" the game, we don't have to play. I feel I got my moneys worth in beta alone, and as a collective we showed the world that battletech is still a viable franchise. that is enough to open the door to the next game in a few years.

3rd person view would be awesome. it adds better gameplay seeing more of the action instead of the tunnel vision we have in the cockpit.

I dont want 3rd person and its yet another complete reversal of what they said they would not do in the game.

I told you guys 3rd person is going to be some drone module that launches and hovers up behind your mech. They will say everyone has access to it so its not OP.

3rd person is totally unnecessary and a bad choice.

If you must implement 3rd person, it should be restricted to custom lobby games and training grounds, never allowed in ranked play, community warfare, or tournaments. It's a fun little experience for casuals, but it is totally ruinous to high level play.

Being able to see around corners and buildings is a huge advantage, and with all risk totally removed it makes former high risk tasks like scouting, poptarting, and charging totally simplified and streamlined.

As soon as the players can safely peek around corners and above hills, the game will pretty much be nice and simple and dead for the hardcore playerbase. PGI is seeing all the signs and yet they ignore them. I almost wish that their ignorance leads to a certain death of this game. Would be rightfully deserved.

I respect that. But to be fair, even right now we already have pop tarts everywhere. Jumping LRM cats and jumping cataphract 3d's mostly. And by the end of the day, it will still be "those guys with jumpjets" that will still be poptarting.

Note: excuse me for my grammar. I don't use english as my primary language

Oh yes, we do. Imagine if they were lining up shots on you from a position where you can't see them, but they can see you?

That's what the future holds.

The only way to counter a proper tart is to tart yourself. This has been proven many times in the past. They simply need to stay out of this can of worms completely.

That they're even willing to do it...not a good sign.

There is a massive difference in game play design. What you listed was a business and economic design, not gameplay design.

I think the key point here might have been - and whether you or I agree or not is: They don't know what they are doing or how to make this game succesful, so they copy as much as they can from a "model" game they think they are similar to and hope to also copy the success.

3rd person is a gameplay affecting decision, but it is also a business decision - if the market analysis suggests that 3rd person perspective attracts more players than 1st Person.

Of course, how far do you drive this methodoogy? What if market research sugggests tanks are more popular than mechs?

I like how this picture proofs that there are gamers who really wants third person view xD And that PGI could make money of them.

More money = more MWO

Which of course means that it doesn't have to be a better MWO :-P

I would like a TPV IF it doesn't give any advantage over first person view!

First off, there is always going to be at least one person who likes and idea and at least 1 that does not. Which by a poll do you think outnumbers which on this issue. Thos who like the idea of 3PV and those who dont?

Also I do not see how it would not give an advantage, 3PV by its nature implies a wider field of view.

I am kinda peeved we do not have a rear view camera hud in our mechs but they consider a view like this acceptable.

That's kind of it isn't it, the Dev's themselves seem decent, but they are just "following orders" aren't they? its the higher ups we need to be angry at who make these kind of decisions, not the people who make it happen. Anybody seen Niko Snow' signature comment as far as job title? just saying that says a lot to me about what they think of us.

Third person view is the most ridiculous waste of developer's time. We NEED community warfare not a friggen wheelchair mode for people who don't know how the hell to pilot a mech. HUGE WASTE OF TIME PGI! You guys could honestly be giving us two mechs a month by this point like the initial plan was supposed to be but because the forum is full of people who obviously don't even have their driver's licenses let alone have any sort of idea how to pilot a mech in a simulator. Really disappointing that your putting third person in, this isn't a ******* console game.....

I'm going to put this here too instead of re-typing and to expand on my Cryptic Studios comparison of earlier.

Well but the rage is just as much about actual 3PV during gameplay as it is that someone at PGI said it's coming "Soon", meaning they've spent a crapton of development time on it the last few months or so as it is, and that Paul specifically said there would not be a 3pv because it is not part of the development pillars of the game and they would have to change focus in a big way in order to do 3PV. So we have broken ECM, they introduce broken missiles (again), community warfare is nowhere to be seen and gets shuffled to ignore-land, yet they have taken time to develop this wildly unpoplular game feature.

It's also as much about a race to the bottom of the developer bin with Cryptic Studios to see who can get 'worst development studio of the year' award with their development choices, schedule slippage, imbalanced implementations, lack of Quality Assurance testing, pay2win implementation, communication faux-paus and treatment of the community.

But StarTrekOnline got an Award for being the best F2P MMO of the year :-P

Best thing I saw today was a post of guy who wants to quit MWO because the coolant shot is P2W for him... he will pay 200$ for Cryptics Neverwinter Night ....hahahahahahahahahaha so many idiots here in the forum hahahahahaa
