Above you can see me running a 5x LRM20 Stalker. That's 100 LRM's shot at once. My target is unsuspecting cataprach, a very juicy target for any LRM boat. He is nearly max health (like 95%, little scrathes, all armor near max). I unleash the barrage of 100 LRM's right into his face at optimal range of about 300m. And to raise up the stakes even more, he is actually walking towards me with his massive front chest directed right at my lrm's.

Expectations; this is the biggest mistake of his puny life.

Result: He lost his center torso armor and his CT internals are at yellow. His left/right torso are now at orange armor.

I'll let you decide if LRM's are still worth keeping around.

So LRMs are a support weapon then? That is madness.

Good post. But some will not agree with you no matter what proof you have. I, however, happen to agree with you!

100 damage spread over a Phract's torsos didn't kill it?

Why should it? Stock the Phract has 32+52+32 armour on those torsos.

LRMs are finally making sense again.

No TAG or Artemis? Sounds about right. They nerfed things a little too hard, but it's closer now than it was. I'm thinking LRMs at 1.0 and SRMs at 1.75, but we'll see

this is just a temporary fix.

i agree, i came back to my staler which used to have a dmg rating of 135 to now having a rating of 50, took it out pinned a few dumb mech who were out in the open with multiple lrm x75+artemis volleys to have them turn orange and walk off.

from one extreme to the other, what was an accidental OP boost to missiles has now gone to making them as worthless as MG's

So it takes 2 salvoes of 100 LRMs to kill people? Please, someone get me my fainting chair

im sorry but MISSLES ARE SUPPOSED TO F THINGS UP. they are support in the way that they are long range and can be fired accurately at enemies

i get why noobs who cant use cover whine, but if there is something that 100 missles cant kill.... im going to run away screaming

oh im not saying the last extreme was right, but good lord they need this fixed already and people need to realize missles are supposed to be dangerous and you shouldnt sit in the rain

what you are expecting is a 1 button 1 shot KO that homes in on your target.

maybe we need to adjust expectations. nothing else does that in this game.

homing missiles that take 2 shots to kill an enemy isn't really all that weak.

so they are incredible at supporting your team by stripping sections of armor so your team can mop them up easily?

look how much damage the cataphract is doing the the stalker. and how much the stalker is returning to the cataphract and you tell me that is fair. even in its nerfed state.

I didn't see arty spiral - so that's one issue.

2nd is the damage - even if spred - doesn't account for the only yellowing of the CT. Even at 50% distro, a first volley would have taken off the armor on the front section.

Even without payload, that much mass being delivered at speed would hurt.

This. They're for pummeling the enemy before the brawlers hit to soften them up and make the kill quicker for those who can compartment-focus.

Your homing, 1 click alphastrike failed to 1-shot-kill a heavy mech, I see. Judging from the footage, you may have to click your mouse a second time in order to achieve your desired result.

I'll address you directly, but this one goes out to others too saying the same thing. Are you guys not understanding what happened there? I did not shoot "one volley", I shot five. So I'm not sure where you got that "2 shots" will now kill an enemy. If we are now assuming that it takes two similar volleys as shown here, that means it takes 10 shots to kill an enemy. Nobody in their right mind is running a 5x LRM20 stalker. That is a joke build made for one purpose only; to test out the extreme situation with LRM's, and in such an extreme situation yes I fully expect to wreck my target when conditions are so perfect for it. If anyone thinks it was easy before to run a joke build like 5x LRM20 stalker and totally dominate, you are sorely mistaken. That thing moves like a snail and gets totally wrecked by ecm and light mechs.

The conclusion should be clear from what you've seen here; LRM's are not worth their tonnage anymore. If someone thinks its a good idea to bring in a weak weapon and call it a "support weapon", then by all means knock yourself out. But for the rest of us who are looking for effective builds and weapons, having such a huge weapon type to be a lot less than optimal is a huge game breaker.

Also, the bias towards CT damage that Paul talked about is clearly evident.

Good thing they're working on that.

I'd say they still are worthwhile. You almost completely stripped his torso armor in one volley, and your total heat build-up for doing so was equivalent to group-firing four PPCs (which you'd need to do at least three times to match that damage.)
