well, i did notice the 350 is 1.5 tons heavier, which is almost enough to add in two external doubles, which is still better then one double, but i guess i can still just put in the 350 lighten it up a bit and slap in another heat sink

is the ks double ams worth it? i used to think that, but now lrms are nerfed, so maybe not, and does the command console do anything yet?? you know how the d has dual ballisic slots? have you tried dual lbx-10s in there yet??? i want to put those on my future atlas, for extreme brawling power, but im unsure how well that would work

atlas looks like what i have now, but a few more hard points, and a lot more tonnage to play with

It's only a half ton heavier, because remember you get an extra free heatsink in the engine. With the 245 you have to use 1 of those 1.5 tons for a heatsink. The difference between 11 heatsinks with a 245 and 11 heatsinks with a 250 is 1 ton. The 250 gives you 21.4 single heat sinks. The 245 gives you 20.8 single heat sinks.

Largely, no. The dual AMS really doesn't help much of anything unless you're fighting really LRM heavy teams all the time, and you give up an entire missile hardpoint to get a fairly situational item. It's just not worth the tradeoff.

Command console doesn't do anything yet. It's removal should be the first thing you do with your D-DC.

Yes, you can comfortably fit two LB10Xs into an Atlas' side torso (behold, the splatlas!), and it's only real limitation is how slow the Atlas is. Hard to get in close enough to focus the spread into a section.

EDIT: I dropped the Medium Pulses down to mediums to avoid shaving armor, but if you like the medium pulses than the tonnage is going to have to come from armor.

The Atlas K is usually considered the worst of the Atlas variants. Double AMS isn't at all a big deal, even when missiles were better.

Command console does nothing at the moment, you can ignore it.

Dual LB-10Xs is alright - but quite heavy. They are a terrible weapon beyond about 100 meters, but inside that range they can actually hurt. It's a pretty unusual build, but it isn't terrible. The LB-10X could still use a buff from the developers, however.

here is my ctf with a 250 engine:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...4321fd116b348da

245 plus a heat sink and some armor weighs as much as the 250, so its speed vs armor, and the heat dissipation stayed at 30% :/

Looks good - but maybe move the Heatsinks from the arm to the side torso.

yeah, didnt pay attention to heatsink location in smurfies, i tend to just throw that stuff in to se if it fits

still, had to remove armor, since i have to find another .5 tons to fit the 350, and for reasons i can't really figure out, it doesn't show a change in heat efficiency or max sustained dps
lol splatlas, have you guys ever used something like that in a competition??

i tested one lbx10 in my ctf, pretty cool, but with only one ballistic hard point, ac/20 in better

No, the LB10Xs are too unreliable as far as damage is concerned. Competition is all about drilling a hole through your opponent as fast as possible, so pinpoint damage is heavily preferred. It used to be that gauss rifles were the norm, but now it's usually the AC20. Twin Ultra AC5s also show up now and again, but they're heavy to put on. They still are the most destructive ballistics if used properly.

It could also be that I dropped the medium pulse lasers to mediums, as I find the extra point of damage usually isn't worth it for the extra ton, shorter range, and extra heat.

So, I've got an AC20 Raven and it's a blast to play every now and again but it feels like something's missing. I don't really mind not having long range weapons since I wander about with the heavy and assault mechs and back stab. The armor is as good as it's going to get which helps since I'm slow. I'm reasonably happy with the setup but if y'all could make it better that'd be great.

You're about as good as you can get with an Urbanraven, Just remember to be really careful, because slow light mechs are usually looked at the same way whales look at krill.

This is also one rare time when SHS are okay - since you have such a small engine, and have to waste critical on engine heatsinks. Really a shame you weren't able to get a jump jet on there, though.

Tricky, you might have found a build where single heat sinks are somewhat useful.

I think the AC10 Raven is significantly more awesome than the AC20 Raven, but as Protection said, that's about as good as you're gonna get with the AC20.

don't uacs jam?? do dual uacs jam if you set them to sequence fire???
i think i will switch my medium pulses to mediums, and put in a large laser, the game is putting me on tourmaline desert almost exclusively, and thats not the best map for brawlers

maybe not for comp, but dual lbxs in sequence fire look like they would be fun as hell in random battles

i will post my new and improved all around ctf in asec to see if you guys still see any issues

heres my new ctf, it has better dps then the 3 medium pulses! also 1 more dmg alpha,1.2 max dps difference, and no change in heat eff. also longer range, although it is like 1.8kph slower
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3fe9142e5c1816d

so large lasers are that much better then medium pulses...

Pulse lasers in general are pretty wonky. They're useful on/against lighter mechs because of the short burn time, but that's about it. Standard lasers are generally more useful and utilitarian than pulses.

Your build looks solid! Not much more I can give you. Play around with it a bit and see if there's anything you don't like about it. We're always here to help you spitshine your mechs!

Won't run. You're short 2 tons of heat sinks. You need a bare minimum of 10 to start a match.

Hey guys,

I kinda got glazed over. I was hoping someone could take a look at my TBT-7m and give me some tips.

I want something that is somewhat mobile and has just enough firepower to not be forced into a pure fire support role.

THANKS!

Is artemis still boosting Streaks? Cause thats the first thing that came to mind looking at that.

Looks like you could remove a Jumpjet and a bit of armor from the limbs to fit in a XL300.

It's really well optimized and pretty much good to go.

The only option, since leaving that .07 tons unspent is a bit of a downer, and max leg armour is not all that important, you could lower each leg to 40 - still quite strong for a medium, and up the engine to a 285XL for a wee bit more speed.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7e3c81becc2c481
But it's not a big deal, and probably not worth the 3-4 million C-Bills for the engine if you already own the 280XL.

The other option doing that would be to dump the engine heatsink (and run a little hotter), but pick up a 300XL (with zero extra heatsinks). You run a little bit hotter, but you also go 106kph instead of 100kph.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...1cdb12472676a68

But, as I said, there is nothing wrong with it as is. It's got potential to be a very good Trebuchet.

Protection responded to ya, and there isn't much I can add to that. You can touch up your engine size a notch or run hotter for the extra burst of speed, but there really isn't anything else you can do with that build to make it function any better.

I can also offer you my favorite trenchbucket.Plenty of direct fire to handle any situation, and the Arty 15 is rather good at whittling away armor. Sprint around the outskirts of a fight and throw missiles at people till they run to cover, zap anything that comes close with your lasers, finish off wounded targets with your lasers. It's the only trenchbucket I still run.

Suggestions?
JR7-D
Is it worth going to a smaller engine for more tonnage?

CPLT-C1
I don't see any way to further improve it, please prove me wrong.

Jenner - If you're hunting larger targets, it can be worth dropping down to a 280 and kitting out SRM4s. If you're hunting lights, that's as good as you're going to get.

Hunchback - As close to optimized as you're gonna get. Like you said, you can strip leg armor for case, but honestly once that gauss side torso blows you're just a medium laser. Generally not worth it.

Catapult - Again, you've got it pretty maxed for what you seem to be going for. The best I could cook up for this was this: wubwubwub. Sacrifices range and alpha for better heat management and more focused damage. It's really a matter of preference at this point.

Atlas - Can't spot a way to improve this one either. You've got everything here pretty much maxed out from what I can gather.

Wang - I run the exact same build, so no, I can't think of a way to make it better.

Sorry, Postal. Don't think I can help you much here.
