Now my personal preference here is to drop the STD and go XL300

josef, if i learned to use the uac well, would it be better for brawling at close range?

No, not unless you could pair them. Paired UAC5s are devastating. As a single weapon, the AC20 wins out.

I suppose I can ask the corollary question, then.

Assuming this specific loadout is not sacred, what could we do while still maintaining the same style/role? I like to use this mech as an "assassin". I have a pretty big payload relative to my speed. I can use the speed to get in a larger/more distracted mech's rear arch and open up on him.

I try to use the UAC5 to deal rapid, pinpoint damage to areas stripped of armor (this works better in my mind than it does in game - but sometimes I get lucky and perhaps I'll improve over time).

So. Is there a build that will maintain this "feel" and perform better?

If you don't want to change weapons its pretty good where its at. If you are willing to change weapons you could go with this.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...59aae3d818b0e83

It swaps the UAC5 for a standard AC5 and an extra heatsink it will give you the same alpha damage, gain 7% better cooling and .05 more sustanted dps as well as more ammo due to the AC5 ammo giving more per ton then the UAC5 ammo but this is just my shot, Protection and the others are far better at this then I am.

Oooh. Maybe downgrading to the AC5, dropping a ton of ammo and then switching to FF and an XL320 (and getting two more points of armor, lol)?

That catches my attention. Only 2 tons of AC5 ammo, though. I wonder how long it would last?

Probably drop 1 ton of AC5 ammo then. I don't think you are going to need 90 shots for a match

just so you know, the uac does 4.55 dps, while the ac/5 does 2.94, and thats not including when you double fire it, so even though alpha is the same and sustained dmg is slighly improved, you will still be doing 1.61 less dmg every second, of course, its up to you

two more points of armor, really? lol

I'd be inclined to try something with the AC10. You trade DPS for burst, but for a fast flanker you might only have a brief opening, and I prefer dealing 10 damage at once when I get a great opportunity shot than whittling down their whole mech 5 damage at a time. In the swirl of combat, burst can often win out over DPS if you're skirmishing well, and that's what this mech is, a skirmisher.

Eureka

You're minmaxed for 450m, which gives you a range advantage against most brawl-heavy builds. Plus, you have the speed to play footsie, and it significantly improves your survivability to keep that XL engine out of a direct fight. You've got a lower alpha, but you have to dive-bomb to use those SRMs anyway, so it doesn't matter. If you harry well and play the midrange game to your advantage, this build has potential. You might want to try it out.

2 tons of AC5 ammo is more than enough.

Possible I suppose but worth it is debatable.

CN9-D

Same build but XL340 with SRM4's you trade damage for 6 KPH

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...99b924522060181
if i was actually gonna use this, i would polish it more, but still, dual ac/20 jager mechs can go suck it :)

That thing doesn't have near enough ammo to last a match.

You'd be terrifying for about 10 seconds, then you hit the bottom of the magazine and have to sprint for the enemy base.

This is my Centurion D. I love it dearly. While I am sure it is not even "acceptable" in the world of competitive play (especially in this post-SRM nerf world), it has done me very well.

If someone who really prided themselves on optimization wanted to tighten this up a bit? I'd love to see the results.

Everyone else was wrong. You can add another heatsink.

The Centurion's special power is the fact that half of the mech is useless and can be used to shield the useful half of the mech. Stripping armor out of your useless (and by extension useful) half is taking away what the makes a Cent a Cent.

But yeah, if you don't use that arm for shielding you can easily squeeze another heat sink into the mech.

how much ammo would you recommend for dual uacs?? its gonna be slow, but it will work

also, it got me to find a use for standard heat sinks

You don't need a lot of armor there for it to function as a shield. Stripping it and having a shield arm are not mutually exclusive.

if its standing in water it has a heat efficiency of 43% good ol standard heat sinks :)

(no one bother building that thing, if you want a beastly brawler, just set-up an atlas for brawling)

you cant deny that would terrify anyone, well when standing in water, i mean, its loud, slow, hits really hard, and i would love to brawl a dual ac/20 jager in it
