2x Med Laser.
AMS.
10 DHS.
Stand 200 engine.
Standard Armour rating of 298..
Firepower 50..
Sounds good?

Well, here I has the tissues...
My Catauplt C4...
20 LRMs w/ Artemis...
2 Med Pulse lasers...
4 JJ...
10 DHS...
260 standard engine...
186 Armour rating...
Firepower 40...

Next in the line of Suckage...

Cataput C1
LRM 15s w/ Artemis...
4 Med lasers...
4 JJ..
10 DHS..
260 standard engine...
CASE...
320 Standard Armour...
Fire power 41...

Now, I do have another Mech...

Jager DD... Where do I begin?
Currently, because i have changed it so much... well, look...

1 AC 2...
1 AC 5...
1 UAC 5...

Yes, you read that right...

Now, usually, I don't give a rata about my K/D ratio, but I just looked at it, you need a Microscope to see it, thats how low it is...
If you can help, without rolling on the floor, would be nice...
Thanks...

Hey Dan, I spent a couple minutes trying to figure out your builds, but I really need a little more information if I am going to do it right.

For example - I am guessing your K2 Catapult is something like this?: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...264c1ffc91aefe2

But I'd really rather get it right than make guesses.

It only takes a minute or two, I'd really encourage you to try this for your builds: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab

Just so I can get an understanding of what you are using and what you are doing.

JM6-DD
I'm gonna use this as the base point for that Jagermech.

The simplest change (no weapon loadout change) is the add Feros armour and Endosteel, use the extra tonnage to raise your armor to 300+ pts. Like so.
JM6-DD
Jaegermechs start with bad armor, always always max your Torso armors out to stop being tissure paper.

The weapon loadout is a bit strange, and likely would be stronger if we focused on only one brand of autocannon.

You don't need to register to use smurfy, btw. You can just drag and drop and go.

AWS-9M

I have pretty good success with it, especially when I can play with my friends. But I'm sure its sub-optimal. I'd like to retain the PPCs (ER or Standard) and at least most of the speediness.

What speed has your CTF got?? judging by your previous messages its probably too slow... My CTF-3D is close to 90k with speed tweak and JJ's (Thanks too guds and protector) and I love finding a 6PPC stalker its such a free kill ;)

The stalker has a slow twist so dont approach it head on and you have the advantage... once he fires and misses stop track alpha ... the old stick and move... your CTF should really be 80kph to be effective... too slow and your just a waddling duck begging for attention...

it goes 59kph, the speed is fine, its just that EVERYONE seems to have long range set-ups except me, so i have to wait for my teammates to advance

Excellent thread, loads of great build advice - thanks to all who contribute. I'm looking to get my first Jager and wanted to get your views on this build; JM6-A Not sure what Tag is doing on here, so would swap for more ammo? Also, not sure about XL engine, can I maintain similar speed but with normal engine? Lastly, how are SSRM's performing now? would I be better off with 4xSRM6 (+Artemis?) Any improvements would be appreciated.

PS. Do you offer custom rims, IME (in-mech entertainment) systems or decal services? ;)

Jägermechs are in a really rough spot. They have massive, exposed side torsos that absorb incoming fire, but they NEED XL engines to take good advantage of their hardpoints.

As such, you're going to want some decent speed. I'd drop the TAG and a half ton of armor in the legs and up your engine to a 280. Your legs are a bit weak, but the Jäger has the advantage of really high guns, so if you're far enough over cover to get your legs hit, you're in a bad spot anyway.

Alternatively, if you find that you're too squishy with the XL engine, you can drop the SSRMs, add medium lasers, and slap in a Standard 250.

AWS-9M

This is my first pass at it. It's more heat efficent, with a slightly lower alpha and better range. I feel like XL engine mechs (that aren't lights) should try to keep at standoff ranges, as diving into brawling range with an XL Awesome is a good way to get your side torsos peeled off.

I dropped a heat sink to add another ton of SSRM ammo because of the third launcher, but honestly it's up to you whether you'd rather have an extra ton or a heat sink. I don't use SSRMs all that much, so I'm not sure about the ammo per launcher standards.

Really, really, really strongly depends on what role you're playing.

For long range support boats, sure, strip back armor and max front armor to enhance survivability. If the enemy has your back, you're dead anyway.

For brawlers? It depends on your torso twist. Low twist mechs need a balanced armor loadout (like the Stalker). High twist mechs (like the Hunchback) can get away with less armor on the rear. Mechs in between should play around with armor values until they're happy with it.

For faster mechs? Rear armor is also important. If you're harrying. you have to give your enemy your rear during your "beat feet as fast as I can to get away from you before you retaliate" phase of your attack, so having some significant rear armor is important.

I also feel that it's important for XL engine mechs to have a balanced armor distribution. Considering the loss of a side torso is an instant death, giving a cheeky Jenner something he can gut in an alpha strike and a half is not a good idea.

So no, I'd leave the armor distribution like it was. The fast awesome is a harrier with mid-grade torso twist and an XL engine. It -needs- balanced armor distribution.

Without altering the loadouts, these are both as optimized as they are going to get.

As with all assaults, you're jonesing for some crit space. I removed the Endo Steel and the LPLs, and added 5 MLs (2 to each torso + 1 in the head). Now you have both tonnage and space to work with, while still keeping your firepower. What you do with the space is up to you, but I'd swap out that ERPPC with a pair of vanilla PPC's and add an extra DHS to the left arm. But like I said, up to you at that point.

Hey guys, I hope you guys don't mind me dropping in for another build suggestion.

I recently bought a Hunchback HBK-4SP variant. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with this purchase, and as many has stated it is INDEED the best starter mech to purchase.

I really want to thank the community here for helping new players fuddle with new mechs and builds from experienced people.

Without further ado, here's my proposed HBK-4SP final build. I haven't bought all the equipments yet but I figured I asked the experts about builds :D

HBK-4SP-Zeprome-First-HBK-4SP-Build

Now couple things I want to point out from what I experienced from stock to upgrading it to DHS.

1) Long out drawn fights causes shut downs. Thankfully, chain firing helps eliminate that to a certain degree.
2) Mobility is sore as trying to get close to enemies is at times difficult (HBK-4SP has no long range capabilities)
3) Subpar firepower at mid range. Has close to nothing when it comes to far away engagements.

I'm actually fine with it's disabilities as unleashing it's firepower potential at close range is great and satisfying. However, I do plan on experimenting various energy weapons like ER PPC and pulse guns. At a glance, ER PPC and related PPC takes up too much weight. I believe they are more edging towards sniper and ballistic like weapons. Medium Pulse lasers don't have as far optimal range compared to Medium lasers and also weigh more.

The HBK-4SP is also surprisingly sturdy and alas if all my torsos and arms are gone I still have my medium laser on my head. Hence its fun to continue fighting like a zombie.

Personal experience:

The best medium mech. There are so many moments that I have encountered where the HBK-4SP is surprisingly potent. At one time I was chased by 3 mechs on Frozen City. I kept circling and evading them from building to building while at times encountering them face to face. I smash them with my 1 and 2 weapon group (1 is all my medium lasers with chain fire and 2 is all my SRM 6s with chain fire). I was getting desperate to stay alive and make it back to friendly lines while bits of my armor and body peeled off. By the time my allies finally came to assist me, I had only my head and center torso intact. I also gave my enemies a good fight before almost dying. Ironically, on that match, I didn't die and most of my body parts were at critical damage XD.

Also, I love peeping up hills and surprising enemies mechs from behind. Another memorable moment was cresting a hill and encountering a light mech heading towards me. I gave it a good smash >=D (Yes I feel so evil)

So there you have it. Best. Mech. Ever.
