What's your 2x build? and specifically what are your weapon groups for it? That's the thing about the 2X that annoys me, I can't get the build and the controls to synchronize and feel right. I guess I can always just get another mechbay for my 3D.

runs cooler, you will loss some alpha dmg and dps, but the uac has better range then the ac/20, so at long range the erppcs won't be your only option, another option is, if you want, take out one jump jet and the erppc, and put in 2 erlarge lasers, which would have a shorter effective range, but better dmg at that range, even at ranges that would cause it to loss dmg, they might still match the ppc, and they would also give a dps boost over the og mech
i also got in a 310 engine
here it is with er lrg laserz, which would compliment the uacs range micely, 2% less heat eff. then the og mech

if you aren't trying to be a long range fighter, you can switch to normal large laserz, which would run cooler and still be more powerful then the og mech

(right button on mouse) weapon group 1: large laser (its the only long range weapon and the fact its mounted on the arm means it can aim at stuff the mediums can't, you can also constantly fire it without building up heat, good when you are at 99% heat)
(click scroll wheel) weapon group 2: Both srms (high dmg shotgun, arm makes it easier to aim at certain things, but only good up close.)
(left button on mouse) weapon group 3: 2 medium laserz (same range as ac/20, but you have to lead the target differently, since they are laserz, higher dmg then single large laser, but also higher heat)
(what ever large button i have near my fingers) weapon group 4: Ac/20 ( since its ballistic, have to aim it differently, high dmg done at the same time, good against lights)
if you are brawling, you could use regular large laserz, i only recommend the ac/20 if you already have epic weapons everywhere else, or you have 100 tons to play with....
my 2x is very good at supporting assualts, especially ecm atlases that are getting up close
looking into using a uac, then switching out some mediums for large laserz

The thing about UAC5s that I just personally don't like is the jamming. In order to get max DPS you have to take the risk, which might fail you in the middle of a firefight. Also, AC20s just have a great feel
I'll test out using large lasers. Either one on the left shoulder, or just two on the arms. Once I save up another 6 million CBills that is. Thanks for the ideas.
As for your 2X, it may be slow but that is a ton of weapons. Same alpha strike damage as my DDC atlas, but only 2kph faster.
Do you find that you run out of ammo with only 14 AC20 shots? Also, do the missiles fire out of the 4 ports quickly enough for you? Can you track faster mechs with them?
As for your weapon groups, it sounds like you've gotten good with them. Personally I try to stick to 3 major weapon groups for simplicity (maybe a 4th for conditional or backup weapons) despite the fact that I bought this cool gaming mouse with a ton of buttons. Maybe that's why the 2X doesn't jive for me.
I'll have to try out my 2X again, test out your build.

dps is just damage divided by recycle rate
yeah, the ac/20 does feel pretty awesome, and there are 4 missile silos for EACH launcher, so it shoots out as 8, then four, and it does it pretty quickly
14 ac rounds is enough for me, i just have to remember to not waste them at ranges past 270m, and 200 srm shots are a little 2 much for me 2, so i just spam the crap out of them
when fighting a faster opponent that is trying to run around you, remember to slow down or go in reverse to keep them in front of you while turning towards them
i don't use the srms much against faster opponents, although a light will stand still for what ever reason, and i make them regret doing so with them, lag always causes other people to get the kill tho i learned to play this game with the hbk-4sp, so srms are pretty familiar to me
you should test it out on the training grounds, very helpful feature if you don't already know about it
my 2x is pretty much a smaller, less armored atlas, i wanted an atlas, but couldn't afford it

you have an ecm, which is better then ams, so i took it off, it is faster, has better range, runs cooler, and does more dmg, if you rather have medium pulses, let me know, and i will optimize it for those 2, will mainly be faster, i wouldn't recommend that tho
i tried keeping your og weapon load out, but an atlas should have better then 2 medium pulses for energy weapons
Thank You! I just wish I had more c-bills...

i haven't been able to afford an atlas yet, consider yourself lucky

i would take off artemis if you tend to get close and/or you tend to have a fairly high amounts of srm ammo left at the end of match

UAC/5s are capable of jamming on the first shot regardless.

now i must question if its actually shooting faster then the regular ac/5 if you shoot it like that, iv never used an ac5
wiki says .6 faster recycle, idk if thats including double fire or not

I'm thinking of replacing my Cataphract 2X with a 3D (something about the 2X's hardpoints annoys me,. Plus, jumpjets!)
I was thinking of doing something along these lines.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...2a5d862e1fbaa39
Haven't tried it out as I don't yet own a 3D, but I'm guessing it'll run hot in practice. I might consider switching to a normal PPC, but then my long-range power is nil. I'd also kind of like to go faster, but can't seem to reconcile a 300 with jumpjets, heatsinks and armour. Speaking of jumpjets, do 3Ds actually need/want all four?
Thanks for any suggestions.
I would consider dropping a jumpjet or two for more heatsinks. Other than that your use of Endo-steel/engine/ammo distribution all look pretty solid.

The 310 you have is an inefficient engine, eats up tonnage for little gain, and you don't need ferro soaking up critical space. Shuffling some things around picks up 3 more heatsinks.

well engines in general eat up tonnage for little gain, unless you want speed, there are better uses of tonnage then bigger engines

Honestly, you are about as well optimized as you are ever going to be on that thing without giving up the ERPPC.
My only suggestion would be to strip that pointless left arm bare, and put more onto the legs. Maybe even some head armour to keep the leg armour maxed. Losing an empty arm is trivial, and almost no one gets headcapped in a Spider, but getting legged usually means your have seconds left to live.
Couple of options. Flame is the best of the Dragons, arguably (although it is still a Dragon)
Slower Brawler: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b97f94e2f89475a
I like this one because it's one of the unique things you can do with the Flame that you cannot with other Dragons.
Gotta Go Fast: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...94977c15b67ebea
If you really want that top speed, and considering the missile nerf, it's not a terrible idea. Although it is expensive.
Sniper Dragon: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...af99ee23ab4735e
This is actually a really good design we've seen Karian Empire using well. I will warn you that this is not at all an easy build to learn or master, but if you can get good with it, it can be very effective.
i run a 4ppc k2, a 5ppc cataphract 1x, and a 6ppc stalker. I have 16 dhs on the k2, 15 on the cataphract, and 18 on the stalker. The dragon is not a good recommendation from me for a sniper build with 13 dhs and an xl becuase the dragon isnt exactly a leet sniper mech and those dhs wouldn't quite, i say quite be able to keep you cool enough for sustained fire. I would go 3 erppcs 16 dhs and whatever else you want to stuff in.
Oh and ferro is a waste of crit slots never use it unless you are in a light and must have the weight.

POW!! optimized, more armor, way more range, sustained fire, armor, ams, and no min range.
PS: i use very little back armor i like it all on the front escpecially if im sniping.

Looking at the differences between the two, Protections has higher sustained DPS and Higher Alpha. 30 alpha vs 40 and 2.7 DPS vs 2.93 DPS.
For a sniper MinRange, ams and armor are not that important, Max range is, but not as much as you might think on maps other than Alpine and Desert.
One notable advantage is the Headshot threshold. 4 PPCs to the head is enough to kill in one shot, 3PPCs misses this threshold. (The threshold is above 30, I think its 34 or something)

Well first I should note that its impossible to improve this particular build without editing its weapon loadout, as you have pretty much made the ultimate 1shot wonder build for Hunchbacks (Sorta like 5PPc Noisy Crickets).
For this build the things that we want to improve are: Speed, Cooling and Armor.
Things I am assuming you wish to keep: High Damage for a Hunchback
First ill share the Diamondback. HBK-4P This build shares some damage cannon Similarities without any of its glaring weaknesses. It has a scalpel effect similar to your build but can fire more often and is better at positioning.
But to really improve it I have to ask what weapons you wish to keep? Is your goal to keep all those Largelasers in the side torso? Are those medium lasers needed (they can all be switched for a DHS, and the remaining tonnage used to improve the engine or add some armor)
