Since, really, the Dragon seriously does need its big "I can knock over an Atlas" ramming power to be a good mech again.

is that bonus really something that should be tied to the chassis itself, or is it really just a function of speed-to-weight ratio?

I'd actually rather like that. Tackler Dragons were really irritating, but now that every heavy, and most mediums, are so much better than it at everything, it might be a fun quirk to give it back the amazing knockdown power it once had to give Dragons a real purpose.

(For anyone who did not know -- during closed beta, the Dragon mech was accidentally calculated as a 100 ton mech, rather than a 60 ton mech, when collisions were still in the game. So whenever a Dragon collided with another mech - it would almost always bowl it over while remaining on its feet. Even Atlai, Awesomes and Catapults were knocked down left and right by rampaging 100 kph Dragons, bowling over everything in sight.

Then they fixed it and Dragons became the useless machine we all know and hate today.)

I don't hate Dragons. I do rather well in them, actually, so I don't find them "useless" either. Furthermore, since the top two spots in the recent tourney were taken by players primarily driving Dragons, I'd say you're..... not entirely correct.

I could see Dragons getting a tonnage modifier so they count as being X tons heavier for purposes of ramming damage/knockdowns.

Given that it's collision rating was corrected from 100 tons to 60 tons before knockdown was removed, its not likely to go back to its bowling days in full.

would be nice, and considering the SIZE of its CT, i really don't think it was a tweak but rather a consequence of its art design.

Never ever ever use these tourneys as proof that a Dragon is good... The last tourneys is winnable by Taging Narcing and Lasering every opponent once. It is not a true measure of a mechs viability. (The pilots that won are still skilled though)

Perhaps give them the weight of a 70ton mech instead of 100ton this time around, Dragon Bowling that doesnt take out Atlai might be fun

I'll pass the uber-knockdown if they would stick all of the XL in the CT that could obviously fit it.

Yeah I know pipe dream......

if momentum is calculated by speed and mass in this game like it is in real life. then i suspect the cicada will be another good bowling ball

The Dragon needs to become a viable chassis without exploiting poorly implemented cheese mechanics.

It would be kinda cool, but that would mean you'd have to drag it into brawls, and from what I understand Dragons are not meant to brawl. I don't drive them so I don't know how effective they can be (I've seen a few decent Dragon-brawlers).

This is probably one of the reason knockdowns have taken their sweet time in being reimplemented, since PGI would need to spend quite a bit of time making sure that they get it properly balanced. I can just imagine people QQing everywhere about the OP Dragon bowlers...
