But you get mad about people getting mad about robots. You're projecting deeper down the rabbit hole than I am.

So the game will be in "open beta" with very few changes at all for almost a whole year? I mean, late 2012 it was the same game as now, except we now have conquest (assault with more bases) and more mechs. It sounds like the only things we should expect before CW is released fall 2013 (unless it's pushed back further) are:
- A few more mechs
- Better UI
- Factions, which may come with a few perks and level-ups.

Maybe a few new game modes will come before the end of this year, in addition to assault or conquest, but they haven't really been talking too much about it, so I'm not holding my breath.

I want to support this game, but I'm trying to enjoy the present state of the game instead of looking forward to future changes, because the future changes are rather small anyway. "In 2014 we will be introducing..... digital camo patterns! Summer 2015 we will be introducing.... a new shade of yellow, with a little hint of green!!!"

I think release comes with CW not with the clans.

I don't need to have been around back then. This game looks bad for the resources it uses. This game is harder to run than crysis 3 and looks terrible by comparison. The direct x versioning is a very strong reason why (as is the fact that they don't seem to understand how to make map content or handle shaders). If it doesn't bother you that this game is going to continue to run like a yugo with its muffler missing in six months than that's your problem. I have actual standards.

So we're moving goal posts now?
It runs just fine for me. Having played extensively in Closed Beta, I can tell you that we've come a long ways. DX11 will happen.

Look on the bright side: if larger companies were interested in MWO, you might have gotten people like EA or Microsoft to handle it. Heck, Microsoft had the IP for a number of years and just marvel at all the stellar work they got done during that period!

at this point I'd rather have EA have the IP atleast there'd be a game then...and I hate EA with a glorious passion

On the DX11 issue, why aren't you folks yelling at the REAL cause of the issue, CryTek, who messed up how DX11 works in the version of the engine PGI is using? Because that would be a realistic response and we know that's not going to happen right?

So currently, on top of having to totally redo the entire network code, create all the assets for use in the game, work on the ranking system, work on CW, and work on the tutorials, PGI is also having to try and debug the DX11 issues CryTek created and fix them on their own. Yeah, that's nothing right, only takes a few minutes for a competent coder to fix...

Shumabot, DX11 isn't the industry standard, might want to do a little research before you start telling us what is or isn't the standard. DX9 is the standard for PC games, cutting edge games use 10 or 11 but the video cards to support 11 are only 2 years out of the gate, so they aren't the defacto standard, not yet. Console games don't even have DX9 as their standard, and only the XBox 360 games even USE DirectX and they only use 9, Sony and Nintendo don't have DX capability at all in their consoles. The next XBox should be DX11 capable, at least there's a few companies who make games for XBox looking for DX11 experienced programmers which makes it very likely.

Oh..and keep in mind...PGI did console games previously...

Minus the netcode fixes, the new mechs and maps. The biggest hurdle in my opinion is netcode issues, and as they're finally getting through that it means they can add new things like MASC that we can test.

Considering the playstation doesn't use direct x at all and the xbox uses a unix distro that's not very meaningful. I don't care what titles they previously used, every single crytek game uses it except this one. If they didn't want to stay current they should have gone with an engine they could handle. This isn't cryteks fault, they didn't force it on pgi.

Please, elucidate how I'm just a curmudgeon. As far as I can tell you and your ilk refuse to do anything but pat pgi on the back for every baby step they take. Except they aren't babies, and they're constantly falling on their faces. Maybe they'd be encouraged to do more than figure out new ways to fleece people like you if people like you would request actual quality.

Also, huh. Apparently this name is more popular than I thought. A student AND an OKC account.

Imo, other games means Crysis reskins. The fact we aren't using a Crysis reskin makes the game much harder to develop.

MASC should be one of the last pieces of tech put in.

Really..you can run fast enough at the moment.

This game used the default crysis night vision and thermal vision mode for a year. It used the default shader systems, lighting systems, weather effects, and what few particle effects appear to be the engine defaults too. This game IS a crysis reskin.

A fun thread, also happens to mention all the broken promises, and have information in regards to how much it costs PGI to make a map [would you believe 250,000?] and a mech [60-70k..] Thought I'd bring some attention to it.
