i like how all the moderators are viewing this thread.

if i were a moderator. and this were implemented. i would resign to send a message.

That's a bit excessive. They're watching because this is a powder keg. Though it's surprisingly civil, which is the most disturbing thing about the entire thread. Except for a short bout at the beginning, there hasn't been a whole lot of fighting over this topic.

PGI - when you have a thread this long and no fighting.... just not good. Not good at all.

Has anyone checked Reddit for updates from the Devs?

Yeah and Facebook or Twitter as the forums are not a good place to communicate with the silent target majority :D

Fill in the blank:

Step 1: Get everyone's hopes up for CW news

Step 2: Announce that playing with your team isn't going to be FTP after all.

Step 3: ?????

Step 4: profit?

Well, yea it's pretty rare that every group is taking this as a "HELLZ NO" issue.

Its like pgi keeps looking for new ways to unite the entire community... I just wish they didn't choose this particular method.

I feel like I'm pretty fair when it comes to judging PGI's decisions. By in large, they usually make good decisions, so I'm usually on their side. However, when they aren't right, I'm not afraid to call them on it.

This is a bait and switch. You lured us in with all the promises of Community Warfare and Clan invasion. Now that we are committed to this game, you suddenly say: Oh yeah, you and your buddies will have to pay to play.

I'm hoping that this is just a negotiating ploy to make the one-time cost more palatable for players, because this will not end well if you don't compromise here.

I'm thinking we should get more proactive on this sort of slip up.

If something like this happened in a different industry, we'd see heads roll, resignations, business relationships ended.

These kinds of either 1) terrible ideas, or 2) terrible mistakes with abysmal community relations really need some accountability.

We should consider making requests for Russ or Brian to resign.

We want the direction of the game to change -- and I have a suspicion that many of the developers would like that as well.

New business leadership might steer PGI/IGP off this road to destruction.

Fool me once, Shame on you.

Fool me twice, Shame on me.

I've had enough of these shenanigans and the direction we have been going but this pretty much solidifies my worries and shatters my hopes for the game.

I'm done.

A 1 time fee is already palatable. A lot of people, including myself, have already given it a stamp of approval. An optional subscription for a merc corps wide Cbill/xp bonus is also okay.

No need to make subscriptions a requirement for participation.

I don't condone this. Business is about making mistakes and learning from them. We're making it known that we don't approve. They aren't poisoning our drinking water or causing cancer.

It's a bad design decision, but it's not bad enough to take a job over. At this point, if we are right and this bombs, the whole company will be in trouble. This is why we're making the point known right now, to save jobs and prevent bad things from happening.

Demanding a sacrifice is just... medieval :D

It's called a trial balloon or a shark bump. You leak an incomplete idea and if everyone freaks out or puts up stiff resistance you say the comments were taken out of context. If they don't you implement the idea.

When I purchased my founders last year there was no indication that CW would require a premium account. If that was the case when the founders program was still for sale, then that information should have been presented at the time. It seems to me that anyone who has purchased premium time with MC shoild be due a refund of that time if CW will require a premium account.

thing is - the game is supposed to be free to play. Free, as opposed toy "keep paying our protection money and you'll be fine"

Vanity items - no problem.
Hero Mechs - no problem again

But here you are charged to access a part of the game. A game, that is supposed to be free.
Even with all the 5 houses (and FRR) mentioned as free, and the ability to join house units, a lot of people will want to join a merc corp, and limiting the option to those "invested" players who are paying you at least 10 bucks a month is just plain ********. I've already spent 150 on it - is PGI implying I'm not invested in the game?

i've not played for over a week now due to the latest patch introducing massive stability issues for many players. (check the support/patch thread for more info)

I was hoping to come back after the next patch assuming it fixed the stability issue now i'm not sure i'm going to bother.

Tried WoT on thursday, not a huge fan of it so far but the difference in graphics quality and game stability is like going from 2001 tech to modern tech...

Not to mention it actually has a tutorial...

It's like pgi are intentionally trying to sabotage themselves.

Yeps it's a pretty common tactic in the business world. It's also despicable as hell.

Waiting for an official response. If this becomes true, we will lose about a quarter of our players. Some other unit leaders with whom I have spoken will lose more.

Stunts like this make me want to vomit acid on puppies. Wouldn't have been so bad if they were more upfront about this from the beginning, but back then they promised a lot of things they reneged or "changed their stance on"

At this point? Probably not if they've hosed off enough of the playerbase.
