Be sure to check the official monthy Creative Director update when it come online sometime in early April. As always, keep your eyes on the Command Chair.

The patch basics:
  • Server downtime should begin Tuesday around 10 am PDT (1pm EDT, 5 pm GMT)
  • Server downtime typically lasts about 2-3 hours. Forums will be down/unstable during this downtime. You may not be able to login.
  • Patch deployment comes after the downtime (approx 1pm PST, 4 pm EST, 9pm GMT) (A conservative estimate as patches seem to be coming out earlier in the process now!)
  • Patch notes are typically not delivered until the patch deployment phase.
Patch Notes will be available here when they are ready:

http://mwomercs.com/game/patch-notes

Currently announced for inclusion on the April 2nd Patch: I expect more details to surface between now and patch deployment, stay tuned! some important upcoming features have been announced but not given firm release dates- this includes repaintable hero mechs and artillery/airstrikes consumables.

If you're really in a rush to see what's coming up you can read Posperity Park's patch notes for tomorrow, but be careful what you wish for! http://mwomercs.com/...ch-notes-12217/

The "Heavy Metal" Hero Mech appears to be a take on Rhonda Snord's famously (and fabulously) pink custom Highlander. It appears to be arms with a gauss rifle (RA), LRM10 (OR TWENTY?) (LT) SRM6 (LT) and 3x Medium Lasers (LA). It also appears to have loudspeakers attached to it's head, making it possibly the first Hero Mech to come with additional 3D modeling and not just a special paint job.

Build A Trial Mech - Heavy Edition was fun, and the winner is Phorashi's custom Dragon 5N. See the build here! http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__2055918 Armed with a Gauss rifle and a pair of large lasers, with a big fat 300xl engine to boot. Looks like a decent ride, and should be a much iproved experience for new pilots than a stock mech.

This is an educational thread written to provide one-stop-shopping for upcoming updates. Let's stay on topic and leave complaints about individual items to their respective threads and/or the patch feedback section.

All information based on published material, sources cited where applicable. Not endorsed by PGI/IGP.

I wonder if the heavy metal is a test of their mech customization features; they did say after all that in an upcoming patch we would be able to select alternate body parts such as heads/arms/legs/ for our mechs...

I would LOVE to see additional weapon graphics like those on the Jagermech and Catapults (and on the Centurions to a lesser extent) applied to other mechs. Seeing the visual change based on which weapons are in a certain hardpoint is good thing.

Doubt they'll release a hero mech for a chassis that hasn't been released yet. Recommend not getting the forum's hopes up about that, or the wailing and gnashing of teeth that will commence tomorrow will be record-breaking.

I would expect more reasonably that there will be a hero mech released for one of the existing chassis, and then later this month, the Highlander chassis will release, with the Highlander hero mech coming the next time a hero mech release is scheduled.

edit: I'd bet we're due for a Light class hero mech, as the hero Highlander will be an Assault class hero mech next time around, and that would balance out the hero mechs if they release a Light one this week.

We already have a Commando hero, and a Jenner Founders mech, and I hope it's not a Raven hero since that would just lead to even more 3Ls on the field as people play or grind the Raven chassis more than usual. So probably a Spider hero variant, which could actually be interesting.

We should also be getting an April community update post, which will help lay out the plans for the month's patches.

Considering they've already said we may or may not be seeing any Highlanders tomorrow, and how especially ******** the forums are right now, I'd expect to see all the Highlanders (hero included) next patch.

Although I suppose the Founder's Catapult isn't really a Hero Mech per se, it does have a model difference between all other Catapults (including the standard Cat C1). The Founder's Cat has a "beak" when the other Cats have what I would call a "snub nose" type of design.

Mr. Redshift-two-kay-five:

Just a small correction:

Build A Trial Mech - Heavy Edition was fun, and the winner is Mike Forst Phorashi's custom Dragon 5N. See the build here! http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__2055918 Armed with a Gauss rifle and a pair of large lasers, with a big fat 300xl engine to boot. Looks like a decent ride, and should be a much iproved experience for new pilots than a stock mech.

Mr. Phorashi designed the mech, not Mr. Forst. Thank you kindly for your correction.

They revisted the K2 twice to add new weapon graphics, so I expect other mechs will get some treatment where it's really necessary.

Mhm...so do we assume that the Heavy Metal will be released, but NOT the Highlander as general mech?

I mean...this would be kinda clever of PGI. People want to play the Highlander --> "so please pay for it, or wait two weeks longer"

Evil, but clever.

All the Founder mechs have different geometry. founder mechs are not Hero Mechs, though.

You are, of course, quite correct. I will note that the official post lists the build as Mike Forst but closer examination reveals this to be an error!

Repainting Hero Mechs has never been given a firm date. I try to stick to announced content and not pure speculation, and while I have certainly made some leaps of deduction concerning the "Heavy Metal" Hero Mech, I do not feel the repaintable hero mech scheme is quite as clear as to it's intended release date. It certainly is a coming feature but is it coming tomorrow?

It was originally stated to be coming in March. Since it was only delayed slightly, one would reasonably expect that to come in the next patch.

http://mwomercs.com/...ro-mech-colors/

"In March, players will be able to customize their Hero Mech colors!"
Which, when it failed to materialize, was updated to "We delayed it until April. There was a small technical issue to resolve."

There is every reason to expect it to arrive in the next patch. Certainly MORE reason and official word to that feature coming in April than for a Highlander hero mech, yet you've got that listed. :D

Would be pretty funny if they release what will likely be the most expensive hero mech to date, before releasing the chassis on which it's based.

Considering the wise thing is to buy a standard variant first to ensure you like how the chassis plays, it would be an exceptional way to certain separate people from their money without them having the chance to try the chassis before shelling out for the paid variant.

If the Highlander drops tomorrow I'm gonna be sad...

Since I just dropped 10 mill on a third atlas so I can finish Eliting those while saving for the rest!

I am bored of Atlases and my other mechs... I would have just waited to get the Highlander if I knew this was happening!
