Sidenote:
I miss throwing a crap-ton of JJ's on a mech's back (rear torso) to act like a single-use MASC system. I used to (for giggles) throw as many as i could on a mech like the Firemoth and just slam into enemy mechs. It makes it like bowling. I legged a Stone Rhino once doing that followed by a salvo from my single small laser lol.
Side note 2: I actually hated MW2. some of the missions were insanely difficult and ridiculous. well, for what... like 10 or 11 y/o me or whatever. MW3 and 4 are where I started to really enjoy the franchise. well, and the original MW for PC, when I was wee... like... what, 5 or 6? and TT also when I was younger.
In MW4, I was a champion of using my lacemates to slow down enemies (because lets be honest, they werent good for much else) while I moved into position for kill shots, but thats another topic.

Locust and Wolfhound... interesting choices. Seems to be the favs of lots of people here. Anyone ever heard of the Koto? It's a light mech (25tons) that makes its appearance in Battletech 3055 manual, and it seems to blend those two mechs rather well. At first, it's a Solaris mech (because of it's X-Pulse laser), but with just a LITTLE tweaking to the design, could easily be put into the game as a Locust-replacement, if they can't get the license(s) for the Locust.
On a different note: I guess you're assuming the designers of this game aren't people, just like you and me?
I know what a Koto is, the x-pulse lasers are not applicable technology yet.
Be careful, you know what they say about assuming.

10 heatsinks
4 medium lasers
1 srm 4
total 15 heat not including movement 1 or 2 or 5 depending on wich it used. while not exteremely horrible tack on the fact that it's barely armored and will have heatsinks falling out or getting ammoed/engined early on. some people don't feel 6,7 or 12 heat is much and are "surprsied" they are rolling ammo/shutdowns after 2-3 turns of pushing it.
Honestly jenner k was the best jenner. no srm more armor.

What I meant was that the Koto design could be put into the game, but use the Locust's name... something like redrawing the Locust. I know the x-pulse lasers aren't applicable tech yet... that's what makes this design "experimental" in the 3055 manual; it's large x-pulse laser. But MWO's designers could EASILY take a Koto- or Locust-redrawing, and use it in the game, using just the readily available tech. There are several different versions of the Locust to choose from, so they could rather easily choose 2-3 versions, and program them in. My preference would be to see a Locust-redrawing thrown into the mix. 12th battlemech, maybe???
Kind of on that note, I'd like to know where people are getting this idea that the 12th mech will be an assault mech. There are 3 other types from which to choose, and the odds of it being an assault are 1-in-4 (all other factors being equal).

Commando: It's got a nice punch but it's just underpowered all things considered.
Javelin: Decent all around light Mech but it's nothing spectacular.
Spider: It's got really nice speed but that's about it.
UrbanMech: Do I even need to say anything here?
Firestarter: The stock designs suck but it can be modified to be a pretty good Mech.
Jenner: Good firepower and speed. I hate to admit it but the Draks did something right.
Panther: A solid hitter but with it's slow speed it becomes too easy to hit for it's size.
Raven: Really good at what it does if you want to take on a specialized role.
Wolfhound: Good armor, speed, and firepower. Against the other lights it owns.
