It can still look awesome without doing much damage. Ever seen MLRS launch missiles? They blow up so much dust and smoke that it looks like a sandstorm. Even the jump jets in this game create more smoke and debris than the artillery strike. It's possible to make things look awesome without doing too much damage. Smoke, shockwaves and debris is a good way. Like this.

He should be disappointed in you. If you ask me, he shows amazing restraint by not typing "lol" and going into great detail about how dumb your post was.
We're talking about audiovisual feedback, and these don't have it. The fact that a game is multiplayer only is no excuse to have lousy, undercooked effects.

Consider the current animation may just be a place holder implemented as an mechanics test.
Look at old non implemented nv/tv : new nv/tv.

Normally I'd say that this is just the familiar beta canard at work as a way to explain away inadequacies, but I think this is actually a fair point, and I acknowledge there is some truth to it. Nevertheless, I think the OPs point still stands, especially since they said nothing about a placeholder. Its woefully inadequate at the present time.

Yep, in that video the player is about 250 meters away. The range of a Medium Laser.
So we're not going to have huge looking explosions such as that. Though we can still have them spectacular even scaled down:

That is a Firebomb blast in MechWarrior Living Legends, the blast radius is 25 meters.
