You missed it.
The real point is that patches this broken should not be happening this late in the game(so to speak), and are probably negatively impacting new player retention more than we realize.
Also that something needs to be done about this OUTSIDE of the forums, that lets the users that don't come here( the majority) know that these seriously crippling bugs are being dealt with in a timely fashion.
If that majority gets turned off...we don't get them back. That's BAD.
It's actually a lose/lose for us. Smaller player base means less income means less development means game slowly dies in a pool of hardcore mechhead tears.
Including mine...I don't like to cry....

Would you advise PGI to quote on this for their New Player Recruitment program? And how does this square with PGIs assertion that the majority of the player base never logs into the forum?

And this does what for someone who is right now playing their very first game of MWO?
Nothing, it does nothing.
"At least one of the major crash types" See the fail in this? Because it is painfully evident to me.
It only takes minor stuff to turn a player off of a game forever. Even less if they have no emotional attachment to said game, as most of us here on the forums do.

I got your point, I just disagree with you. Personally, I do not care about the short attention span-customer. It is the hard core MechWarrior fans who will support the game and spend real money. The casuals and twitchies will never spend real money on this game. It is not about the number of players, it is about the number of dollars. They are not the same thing.

I disagree, it's about the volume of transactions.
There are not enough hardcore mechheads in the entire world to fund this game, period. That 5mil+ the founders put up is in reality, just a drop in the bucket. We would have to put up double or triple that amount, EVERY YEAR to keep this game going. I just do not see Mechwarrior fans being able to do that by themselves.
Bigger spenders are the minority and always will be. The fat loot comes from sheer volume, not from a small dedicated fan base.

Yet another person who thinks that if you lower the price you will definitely get enough people buying to make up the difference in volume. This is simply not the case. Will you get more buyers? Fertainly. Will they make up the difference? Probably not.

Um, judging from some questions I have seen in match, not everyone is that bright.
Literally had one guy who was surprised there actually were forums... I can only hope he was joking.

Probably not, and yes that level of internet savvy is(probably)representative of the majority of MWO users.
Sad but true.

If the OP's position is that the silent majority are too stupid to click one of those when having problems with the game, then they're definitely too stupid to handle something like a driver update. WTH is PGI supposed to do, house visits?

Not too stupid, too lazy.
Patch notes do not convey nearly as much information as the feedback and general discussion forums. Nowhere in patch notes do they discuss(or ever will discuss)how the patch broke the game or what to do about it.
Support button takes you to a page displaying the email support@mwomercs.com, even MORE effort required = not gonna happen.
If they have to put more effort into the game than *Just* playing it, most people will just opt out at that point. There is no motivation to exert more effort to make it work if it doesn't work automatically.

I mean, they have had the X-5 advert up for a few patches now and I certainly don't think that is as important.

As for as a majority I'd doudt that claim.
Only 8% moron here all the rest I would think are fairly intelligent.
Just what we need now PC-Warrior Online beta.
