Medium Mechs, And The Forgotten Promise.

Mediums in general are a hinderance to your team, because anyone who claims they do good in their medium would do better in a light or heavy almost all the time. I cannot think of one specific roll they fill, besides the gimic poptarters, or overengined lightly armed scout killers. Mabye in the future, when masc is working, and lights are hitting 200kph, they will ease off on these engine restrictions which really were put in place at first to cull the stupidly powerful lag shielded swaybacks and such. Letting mediums reach an average of 100+ again would at least keep them viable. As is, why take say a hunchback g, when you could take an equally speedy jager sporting two ac 20s. If you are talking about the average 12 points more on the center torso to the jagers squishy xl side torsos, that dosent do much to comfort you when you lose the hunch torso anyway and end up a 5 or 10 damage dealer regardless.

maybe a torso/turn rate boost
thats the only change they need to make IMO. i've seen some dedicated medium players do very well
they nerfed the **** out of the swayback lol. both engine restriction and small laser nerf.its a bit sad. i was actually happy to see viable mediums. makes a lot more sense than assaultwarrior online. the armsrace they said would nont be in this game

they abandoned that for elo, it cannot take into account player skills, organized teams, AND be able to match tonnage. It would take 10 minutes to match.

The light mechs we have a accuratlly small and it helps them stay alive. Our mediums deserve the same thing... a slight buff to mobility(not speed) would also be a great aid in balance.

The issue isn't that Mediums play poorly. It's that they fail to fill the niche between Lights and Heavies, which is then further exacerbated by the fact that the enemy team is far more likely to get another Heavy with a similar ELO score rather than a class-matched Medium. They were fine in MM Phase 2, because at least the enemy got another 'Mech like yours rather than yet another Cataphract or Jager like they get now.
You'd know this, but that would require a tiny bit of critical thought, so naturally it slid right past you.

Pick one. Garth pointed out that Phil is below him in Medium rankings, and Garth is...well, I've never actually seen Garth win a match.

Then there's the centurions. Personally I suck with them, but I consistently see centurions out there tanking WAY more damage than they should be able to for a mech their size (while running around with a 55 damage alpha WITH THEIR ARM MISSING).
The Cicada performs just as well as the Hunchback, just with more emphasis on secondary roles. I will acknowledge, though, that the Cicada is one of the toughest mechs to pilot well, but it can be done (I know, because I do it).
Last, the good ol' Treb. It's a Hunchback or a Centurion, only with jumpjets. Extremely deadly in coordinated groups (love me a good Treb pack).
Nothing wrong with mediums, but they are more difficult to pilot than any other class.

You first mistake is not dropping in a Centurion. Symmetry is overrated. Take half my 'mech, I'll pew pew with the other half - you just have to ask yourself, do you want to die from the missiles, or all those lasers?
I wouldn't mind being a bit smaller though. =)

Basically you're saying that you have to make up the deficit between a medium and a heavy, with more skill. I think that applies to everything. So if a greater skilled heavy comes across you, then you're boned.
Just because some people can overcome the disadvantage with skill. Doesn't mean there isn't a problem. I don't think they need a buff. But Elo alone isn't cutting it, we need total tonnage restrictions.

And on a daily basis I top the scoreboards with my Cent and Trenchbucket.
I really don't know what people are on about
