Title and poll says it. Let me know what you are thinking on this matter. I for one want to see how many people really just want the assault mech.

Depends on what we can choose from the start.

I used to pilot the AWS-9Q (they were always putting me in it, even though I prefer MAD-5S. Apparently I was doing good in the Awesome), so I might try the 8Q one. But overall I don't like slower mechs, and I would probably prefer CPLT-K2 in MWO since I believe JJs will be useful for somethimg more than just poptarting, and overall pre-invasionish technological level makes 2PPCs a pretty strong combo for a heavy. Unlike in MW4.

Depends on what models will be available and how far customization will go. I'm more likely to end up with a Heavy though.

I'm going to say maybe. I'm not against piloting an assault mech, it's just not my first choice and I'll have to see what the options are. But if the situation ever calls for it I would.

I probably won't be investing in an assault mech any time soon. I've just always enjoyed lights and mediums better.

Probably going to take the founders Atlas. The C-bill bonus should make it affordable. My f2p pick will more than likely be a medium.

Possibly, but I do prefer the utter chaos of a light mech duel

Yes, But it will be a second or third choice!.. Why? I may feel like plodding along sometime bursting with armor and firepower. But my First Pick will likely be a Centurion, Hunchback or Dragon (With what they've currently shown us) as I favor Medium-Heavy 'mechs, possibly a Light for recon if I can find one I can mount a Gauss Rifle on.

I have found that I pilot Heavy Mechs the best, decent speed and Armor and some can pack more of an offensive punch (with the correct variant, and loadout).

God no, this game is going to be jammed with MechAssault noobs whose first and only choice will be the biggest, scariest mech they can get because BIG ROBOTZ R OSSUM. Wouldn't be surprised to see teams of 80% Atlases.

And then, because you have to pay or play a lot to get your second mech, they can't give up their stupid Atlas choice quickly and will get tired of the Atlas spam and quit.

big slow moving heavily armored adn heavily armed tank....... mean very boring to play becuase can only do a very narrow set of things, give me a fast light mec with some decent firepower and some good cover and that big slow thing will be rubble

I am still undecided on what Founders Mech I will take but i am leaning towards the Catapult. My F2P Mech will be a light mech just not sure which one yet.

I plan to start small and work my way up, learning as I go. I mean we really dont know how different it will be from other mech games.

People hated mech 4, I kinda liked it.

Mech 3 was LAG and laser boats, everyone sporting scats.

Mech 2 was great, but cheezie in graphics and missions were short.

As long as the graphics are good, its a balanced game and they can handle lag issues I think it will be a hit.

But again, I plan to start out in light and work my way up as I go. Plus you have to train and/or leve to open up skills in order to use mechs and weapons (modules). I guess sporting an atlas with gattling guns wouldnt be too hot would it. LOL.

I have read a few threads about the over popularity of assault mechs and the potential danger they may pose to unbalancing the game. I just remembered that MWO will also emphasize role warfare and the command position will have the ability to call in artillery and air strikes. I imagine these will not be useful against light mechs and faster medium mechs, but against the slow plotting of an assault they could be very balancing. After a few artillery or air strikes I imagine some players may want to choose a bit more speed over the slow movement of an assault.
