private matches don't cost extra, they would just be launching in public which would take up the same resources. end of story, there are no buts.

well seeing as we do not know how it is setup or will work and the head honcho just said it does indeed cost money.. i say you are on a wild bike ride here...

And on a different subject it is not uncommon that a F2P game restricts creating clan/guild/ect to premium accounts or slap a small fee on it.

Why not provide renting of a match space with a password protection so that annyone you provide the password will be able to access it.

This would be rentable with MC on monthly or every 3 months.

We would have access to what Maps it would run when the drop is launched.

Access to being able to change the password for the person who initiated the Rental.

A GUI to seting up teams (Including chat) and being able to drop un-even.

The only cost to them would be development and testing, they have a server farm that hosts many instances of the game, the servers never ever seem to go down from heavy load or have peak load. It would be unnecessary for another lot of servers just for this.

This is a money grab and are trying to get a return back on the hosting hardware, e.g we would be compensating for the F2P players who dont do private matches

Additionally, there is no need for it as there are so few 8 mans on at +10 GMT if my corp has 8 mans we almost always match up, e.g last night 7 games with no miss matching.

I'm not paying for something that can be done already

Please look more into this, I haven't used my premium time at all, I don't want to need to use it only for access to private matches. Unless you want to change the way premium time to function (start and stop taking a day off at a time) would I not mind, I don't get to play much nor to I have a disposable income, yet I want to take part in some CW and community league and organized fighting that utilizes Private matches.

No, he's actually quite right. From a CPU and memory utilization standpoint, private and public matches cost the same.

Expecting everyone in a private match lobby to be a premium player is unrealistic. PGI would be far better off renting private match servers wholesale or allowing people to host their own with stats tracking disabled.

The community as a whole has many servers capable of hosting CE3 gameserver instances. That's a resource PGI should be tapping, not just to lessen the load on their own farm but when teams can consistently play who they want, when they want, with the server variables they want it increases what league admins refer to as "fun." An increase in "fun" encourages recruitment into the game itself which in turn means more potential premium accounts.

So many people get angry about monitizing parts of the game, they do not realize that if you don't make money, we will simply have no game. I have a premium account, always have. I've bought a few Hero mechs and exchanged xp using mc. I have no problem with this. The entertainment I recieve is worth my dollar. I hope most of us feel this way, because the loud ones complaining about money don't seem to have a basic grasp of economics, mainly, if a company doesnt make money on a product, they stop selling it.

Thanks Piranha, for providing a game I am willing to invest my hard earned money into.

I am getting increasingly appauled by a tiny number of the community who demand this or that. the PGI team are doing an amazing job and as some one who works in a software company on the deployment side I completely understand the development cycle and balancing business priorities and client needs. This is a difficult tricky thing.

PGI is doing an amazing job and I am throughly enjoying watching the game grow over time. This has been close to my fav MW title ever (MW2 is hard to beat on nostalgic terms, @800x600 on my Voodoo1.. ) and I'm sure will be even better.

CW will be tricky, balance will take time but it will get there. people forget how lonh WoW and others took to get their communities and guilds and everything sorted when it was first released and all the stumbling block along the way.

Keep up the awesome work and I'm sure I will be here for the long haul.

This isn't fantasy island where everything is free. It is a company with a budget supply a product. Guess what. Life isn't free. If you like the game and want to support them. QUIT BEING A CHEAP ******* AND PAY. Simply as that. I am willing to pay for content and monthly charge. I like the game and don't agree with everything. I am one person of many. Cant please everyone. Its a good game and take my money. More money=more work on game and content.

I'm fine paying for things. I paid for Everquest and WoW for YEARS. Like literally a decade of monthly payments.

But the devs here try to act like setting up lobbies for private matches is some how going to break the bank. It won't. Tons of games do it for free.

Look at games on Steam.

If they did a better job of setting up their microtransaction stucture (IE paint was cheap enough to be an impulse buy, same with the little doodads, and camo), they wouldn't need to worry about this.

Back to paints and such.

Why the hell not do paints and camo cheap? You have a ton of colors. I buy $1 android games like water, and they suck and I don't play them for more than 30 minutes sometimes.

I'd imagine the money you'd make from everyone and their brother actually spending money on them would easily pay for your expensive private lobby servers or whatever.

Not really. Every match played is already a private match with the matchmaker dumping a random set of players out of the queue and into the match instance.

The only "tricky thing" here is overcoming the management-side obsession with having complete control over the matchmaking aspect of the game. Ironically, coding and maintaining the queue system they have is actually much more complicated than coding in private matchmaking.

They would make so much more money if they essentially rented the game out to us to do whatever we wanted with it.

You could have someone running a 3025 CW, a Dark Ages CW, a 3050 CW, a Star League CW. If all PGI did was create maps, mechs, balance weapons, release paints/camo and created a sort of giant innersphere map that the CW owner could manage. Then all they need to do is offer lobbies for the CW owner.

It would be so damn easy that way. They are doing this the hardest way possible and failing.

I will say that a lot of the aspects of this game are a bit on the pricey side. Hero mechs aren't too bad in my opinion as they are priced similar to some other premium units in other F2P games. But I agree with the recent posts over paint and camo specs. It really should be priced for an impulse buy. I don't want to drop 75 MC every time I want to fiddle around with a single color. And 500-1000 MC is simply out of the question for my budget to get the permanent chassis unlocks.

Granted, there are those who see the value in it and that's fine. I would just like to see a point where the value and cost align on my end too. But that's what weekend sales can make happen if PGi doesn't want to make major changes.

I'd also imagine most people literally are sitting and waiting for an MC sale before buying anything.

The whole system is jacked up right now and PGI is losing money.

Not to mention the sheer ineptness at communication, whether it's these interviews, incomplete patch notes or 5 months to write a 1 page reply to say ECM is fine.

I know at least 4 doing the same.

it's a problem when people are sitting waiting to purchase your ingame currency.

Means things are not set at proper price points and your game is not appealing enough.

It’s one thing to disagree politely and intelligently, even passionately, with the content as it had been initially presented. It’s a whole other issue when the community sends violent threats to PGI/IGP staff for any reason: whether it’s a misunderstanding or for not being available to respond in as timely a manner as expected.

However, we will hold firm that aggressive and threatening behaviour towards staff of fellow MechWarriors will never be acceptable and will result in banishment for those who do so.
I take solace in the fact that this behavior represents the minority, not the majority of our amazing players.

I respectfully request that the ban hammer be immediately wielded with extreme prejudice. The people responsible for violent threats should be made an example of without delay.
