So, I Heard The Rvn-4X Is Useless...

yes, i'm either stroking my e-peen, saying the RVN-4X isn't that bad (the build i use is below), or that PPCs need a good looking at, or i could be saying all 3... and that the sky is falling.

so who thinks the RVN-4X is bad now?

The raven's tiny arms are hard to shoot off (the jenner's a tad larger, but equally small).
It can be painful by design.. the reason is that most try to find usage for the ballistic slots, and usually fail to do something with it.
It's definitely not a mech that would hold up vs a 3L.. but it doesn't make it useless by any stretch. It's simply that it is more painful to grind with to get to the 3L than to use a 3L...

That is a slow raven.
I'm not sure
what the Commando
on the other team
was doing,
but it should have
eaten your lunch.
Also,
I would say you
stole kills...

That said, well done.
It's amazing what mounting "sub optimal" weapons or using a "sub optimal" chassis can get you, or in other words a good player who gets ignored can do serious damage regardless of build.

7-F completely outclasses it, and has more armor, and has more speed, firepower, better cooling, NO MIN RANGE... you get where I'm going with this?
A light worth his salt would totally stomp you.

i'm sure 500 damage says i wasn't killstealing by any stretch, i was just aiming that well.
Careful,
one could argue,
you weren't aiming well
because you had 500 damage.
Had you aimed well,
you would have
had much more damage
as the others wouldn't
have done a lot...
But I believe you.

You also have 5 armor on the arm, and 4 points off the legs, madness!

That being said....run that build a half dozen times in 8mans and get back to us with the metrics. That might be more indicative of whether it's a good variant or not.
My money is on....no.
Fun in 4mans is fun...but not necessarily an example of good. No harm done. We don't all play for "good," as often we're just in it for the fun, amirite?

A large map also helps this type of design. If a light mech has far more space to stay out of trouble the chances of making this build work increase.
On a short range map this PPC 4X probably would have been ripped apart easily by any good light pilot and honestly should have been ripped apart by the Commando 2D on the enemy team.

This is from several months ago, Feb. 9th to be exact. Oh and cheers, I bet it was fun! (Keeping this picture just to taunt those who said the spider would be flat useless, can't wait for the flea + MASC!)
