working as intended *cough*

Nice. I should add this to my list.

Edit: HA! Love the 6xMG spider sig. Are those MG3s?

Considering how it's not done yet, yep.

When a highly placed dev states things are working as intended and is talking about a balance issue with a piece of equipment which is the absolute most useless piece of crap in the game and uses an example of a SIX mg spider to say thats why it wont ever get a buff when not one variant of the spider fits 6 mgs there is something painfully and utterly wrong.

The problem is that the Devs have absolutely no idea about how all the systems they've created interact. it's painfully obvious in how when something is changed they effect tonnes of other systems by accident and don't understand the knock on effects.

Not to mention I can't remember actually crashing since closed beta. Compared to closed beta, it's gotten much more stable.

Well, when the visual interface is so corrupted you can't be combat effective in the match, it might actually be better off if it did crash, because at least then there'd be a trail of evidence/log that could point the developer to precisely what needs fixing.

Hasn't happened to me luckily.

They mentioned expanding lance control and possibly adding rewards for following leader orders, among other things. A.k.a. actually making the command module useful. I think it's less of a case of the assumed incompetence and more of a case of they haven't done anything with most of the modules yet.

you missed the entire point of my argument.

which is that the dev in question is using an example of something which doesn't even exist as a reason for why the system shouldn't be made useful...

Look at all the people justifying the enormous amount of game-breaking bugs. "But MN03, it's still a beta". Ok, but what about premium time and other payments. Yes, the art department has nothing to do with fixing bugs, but so what. Hire more (skilled) people who *can* do it. I'm (almost) scared what today's patch will bring. The last few patches were a drama.

1. In one of the video interviews, Bryan stated they're doubling their staff
2. YMMV, I haven't had a bad patch since CB

One word, "WOW". Let me spend a minute to break down the post and situation before I have to get back to my DoD Adv Sys Eng class...

"Yes everyone wants new mechs and new maps, and I understand that you guys have to make a buck. But you are seriously losing a lot of hard core players because of the stupid bugs. 1 step forward and 2 steps back."

Every 12 year old posting on here knows that a game is built by specialized teams. My point was a matter of resource allocation. My corp had over a dozen people on every night 4 months ago, and now we are lucky to field a 4-man team. Your corp may vary, this is my post, my perspective, my experiences. Not your, fine. Move along.

"After all of this development and after crunch some numbers from several nights of gaming in a 4 man group, about 75% of the time, one of us had some sort of bug whether it be no HUD, no IFF, technicolor, or just the plain old disconnects (that I just experienced after only my second match)."

Bugs have been submitted, and PGI has even said they know of the problems. You want my specs? Near top of the line system with all of the latest patches. My point is that the problems persisted for a group of people, over a long duration. Again, your experiences may vary.

"I love the game, play it every night, but you are really screwing this up. Dont."

A plea to PGI to get their act together and fix the small things that are driving away the most players.

This is simple, this is straight forward. Insult away, the internet lets you do so without repercussions.

Have a nice day.

I can't imagine this. So you did not experience the LRM nukes from heaven? Or last weeks multiple bugs (match not ending/no reward/crash to desktop?)

So? They're doing there jobs. You just think there jobs are easy and the problem can be fixed with-in a few hours.

In other words, you're contradicting yourself.

Man QA isn't responsible for the bugs existing.

I can bet you QA probably has everything listed already, pgi is just pushing patches out bugged patches regardless.

You would be amazed at the kind of stuff that is allowed into patches in the games industry that in any other would be considered a 'show stopper' and have the patch yanked until the problem is sorted.

Sure he was wrong about the Spider thing, but he is right about being careful about how they buff MGs.

LRM Nukes: Bad balance decision, had nothing to do with the quality of the patch.
Bugs: Nope, not any more than usual. I've only had the usual hud bugs, about once a week, just like I have since CB. No black screen, no kaleidoscope, In fact, I'd say my client is pretty stable since they fixed the yellow screen bug a couple months ago.
