For reference, here's a link to the .NET 4.0 installer (web installer):

As I PMed Chris earlier last week... patcher feedback needs two patch cycles to be fully tested correctly. Hopefully, this won't be a disaster.

Yeah, I figured that would be the most likely reason for people to be coming to this thread, so I wanted to be a little pro-active.

Why the .net 4 link? do we have to install .net ourselves?

I think this will affect people with XP more than anyone else. I run XP and I got a bootstrap error when I launched the patcher, and I needed to update my .NET Framework.

Update: Patched; good to go!

If you haven't already installed it (from other programs or what-not), then installing .NET 4.0 yourself saves you from having to re-run the game installer (ie. reinstall the game). It's for convenience. And, I'll toss this out before it's asked - no, the patcher can't install it by itself. The patcher itself requires .NET 4.0, so it can't run without it (and it can't install anything if it can't run). Fortunately with .NET 4.0, Microsoft finally got it together enough to pop up an informative message.

In essence, if things are working then you have nothing to worry about. If there's a pop-up saying you need .NET 4.0, then just run the installer.

I guess that's why the patcher wont start for me(mechwarrior logo on the screen and nothing happens,or if it's disappear the patcher wont start, but I see in the running programs that it's eating memory....)...but I'm sceptical about it that this ruin my windows....and if I install it on the desktop pc my sister kills me if it kills that computer...so I'm not happy about this always changing stuff..

so if I'm right,I need to install this framework or I can't play?

The .NET framework is from Microsoft, it's really not very likely to "ruin Windows". However, if you need to install it, there should be a pop-up window stating that, it shouldn't just stall out the bootstrap patcher as you describe. Any chance you can post what's in your bootstrap patcher logs? This file is in the game's Bin32\PatcherLogs folder, and it's called bootstrap_patcher_log.txt.

That's very, very strange. For some reason you're not getting the remote MD5 back from the CDN. Is there anything about your network configuration that might be causing this? Like a proxy, multiple firewalls, etc.

The new 16.0.2013 patch 1/3 craches the launcher (8 times in a row and counting) at 30% completion without warning or error message.

This was not helpful in my case:
http://mwomercs.com/...atcher-crashes/

,as there are no ___old files and nothing about the new patch in ingame_patcher_log.txt at all.
allowing write on all files and folders doesn't help either.

Any suggestion?

I have the same problem. Running XP. First DL the NET 4.0. Oh wait, while writing this it got trough!
When I started writing it was my 4th retry, and had downloading at 255 mb / 106 mb, and now it started to patch.
Just retry!

I always have to same first question - is it possible you ran out of disk space? If you have installed the game to a different drive, be sure to also check your primary Windows drive (unless you relocated the game's temp directory).

I am behind a corporate firewall. It has downloaded previously just fine. I will attempt at home tonight and see if that works better.

Thanks. Please, if you don't mind, keep me posted on this. It's quite unexpected in any situation and I'd like to know if it persists.
