Just curious. What's something that makes them stand out alongside other assault mechs besides the most obvious case is the JJs.

Anyone excited and satisfied so far with the new Highlanders? Or is the Heavy Metal just somewhat better?

It's too early to say, but I'm really enjoying my 732 so far. As and avid Spider user, my JJ experience translated well to the highlander.

LRM is kind of useless though. I'm using Gauss+3ML+2SRM6 combo right now.

I am really hoping someone provides some positive feedback on them, they seem sort of useless, except for making oversized poptarts.

Bought a 733C for AC20+2xML+3xSRM6. Now to grind for Endo and DHS....

I have a few good builds in theory though. For now my purchase plan includes HM, 732 and already 733C.

I'm actually planning on 1xAC20, 3xSRM4s, 2xLL.

So, far, they pack a punch, IMHO.

I haven't seen too much poptarting yet with them in the few games I've played today.

Overall, they seem to be a good mech to this average player.

The only challenge I see is how to manage all the weapon groups. You've got an arm cannon, arm missiles... probably 2 groups, and then the torso energy weapons are well suited for a long-range gun, and then you have more missiles. It almost seems like 4 groups are needed, or 3, but you risk have no range ability if you have too many SRM's or something... Fun mech, though it looks complicated to play well.

I bought a 733 with cbills today. Had enough to upgrade DHS and endo. Im running 2LL, Gauss, 2xsrm4, and 2xsrm2. I am having a blast with the multi range capabilities, and the missiles pack a huge unexpected punch after being pummeled with LL/gauss while closing. Also, 300xl engine, but i ran out of slots and i have 5 tons available ;) upgrading to 2x lrg pulse would be too hot and i like the range of the LL. I'm just gonna have to save up for the largest engine(xl325), but that will be later down the road. I will probably own four of these babys including the HM once i am done with them. they are definitely a good mech imo.

10/10, brawler ddc with jumpjets and more srm, I'm willing to lose the 20 for a gauss.

If you can cram an AC20 into one of those, you should be able to get 2 uac5's in there. And the 733P can carry 4 PPCs. Sure, they are split between the arms and the torso, but that new fandangled torso lock should take care of that.

With the ballistics and PPC pass, I fear what one of those could do. A death flavored pop tart.

I bought a 732 and I'm loving it.

1 Gauss
3 Medium Lasers
3 SRM6
AMS

Full Jump jets

STD 300

Full armor

I find that I can brawl decently enough. Using the Jump Jets is key though, I would recommend taking armor from something other than the legs if you use the JJ, they are usually hit pretty hard. I use four weapon groups. Close with the Gauss and then shotgun them to death.

I have been grinding c-bills waiting for the Highlander to drop. Bought a 733P today and upgraded to endo and DHS. Running a 4 ERPPC poptart. It may not be meta but it is fun. I have a garage full of mechs for serious play.

I have 8 mill waiting for the 733P to get through the first round of pilot skills.

So i bought a HGN-733C. outfitted it with DHS and endo

currently it is carrying 1 gauss rifle, 2x ER PPC, 1 LRM 15.

the PPC + Gauss Combo hit is amazing. the PPCs do cause a lot of heat generation but switching to firing just the gauss a practically 0 heat weapon for a bit keeps you doing damage while charging ahead at 47 KPH.

the LRMs are nice as inderect fire but i agree with above posters that they are kinda / sorta worthless.

Tried the build with 2x srm 6s but didn't like the spread damage. Another option is to try and build it with 3x streak srms

my only complaint about the highlander is considering my choice in weapon loadout i dont see a reason to buy the other variants they all pretty much offer the same tactical load.

I just find it interesting that the Highlander has rather all good hardpoints and JJs. Could be the next pop-tart sniper.

Fact is, it probably would be the most versatile Assault. :D

My take re: fighting them is that there's not much value added as a poptart, but that they're really solid all-arounders.

They're sexy. I want to bear their love-child. :D

Seriously, I had just planned to get 2 to level my HM, but I think I'll be keeping them both (732 & 733C) and adding a 733.

The 733C is like a mini-DDC that hops. Haven't decided for sure on the 732. Currently it's a Gauss/Triple-PPC sniper, but that will most likely change. 733 I'm thinking of running as an upgraded version of the stock build.
