Anyone excited and satisfied so far with the new Highlanders? Or is the Heavy Metal just somewhat better?

LRM is kind of useless though. I'm using Gauss+3ML+2SRM6 combo right now.

I have a few good builds in theory though. For now my purchase plan includes HM, 732 and already 733C.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's progress and point of view of this mech.

I haven't seen too much poptarting yet with them in the few games I've played today.
Overall, they seem to be a good mech to this average player.
The only challenge I see is how to manage all the weapon groups. You've got an arm cannon, arm missiles... probably 2 groups, and then the torso energy weapons are well suited for a long-range gun, and then you have more missiles. It almost seems like 4 groups are needed, or 3, but you risk have no range ability if you have too many SRM's or something... Fun mech, though it looks complicated to play well.

With the ballistics and PPC pass, I fear what one of those could do. A death flavored pop tart.

1 Gauss
3 Medium Lasers
3 SRM6
AMS
Full Jump jets
STD 300
Full armor
I find that I can brawl decently enough. Using the Jump Jets is key though, I would recommend taking armor from something other than the legs if you use the JJ, they are usually hit pretty hard. I use four weapon groups. Close with the Gauss and then shotgun them to death.

currently it is carrying 1 gauss rifle, 2x ER PPC, 1 LRM 15.
the PPC + Gauss Combo hit is amazing. the PPCs do cause a lot of heat generation but switching to firing just the gauss a practically 0 heat weapon for a bit keeps you doing damage while charging ahead at 47 KPH.
the LRMs are nice as inderect fire but i agree with above posters that they are kinda / sorta worthless.
Tried the build with 2x srm 6s but didn't like the spread damage. Another option is to try and build it with 3x streak srms
my only complaint about the highlander is considering my choice in weapon loadout i dont see a reason to buy the other variants they all pretty much offer the same tactical load.

Fact is, it probably would be the most versatile Assault.

Seriously, I had just planned to get 2 to level my HM, but I think I'll be keeping them both (732 & 733C) and adding a 733.
The 733C is like a mini-DDC that hops. Haven't decided for sure on the 732. Currently it's a Gauss/Triple-PPC sniper, but that will most likely change. 733 I'm thinking of running as an upgraded version of the stock build.
