Except that model size is hard set and not a variable, so in order to "scale" the size up or down? Yup, that's a total redraw and re-skin. Considering that they've already sold skins for all of these mechs, I would say there's about a snowball's chance you'll ever see the size corrected.

I love this game when it works. When it works.

Why didn't they get it right the first time? That would be a nice question to have answered.

It is not a mistake. They made these mech bigger on purpose. It is OK to want them re-sized, it is less OK to assume it was incompetence on the part of the dev team.

Yeah? Cause I could have sworn they were trying to cut corners by reusing skeletal frames, like the victor, highlander, and quickdraw being nearly identical.

So, does anyone know which publication (if any) the "3050 Clan OmniMechs Size Comparison" (which seems to be depicting CBT-esque heights) came out of? ;)
Posted Image

I've been able to find two references/links to it: one in a MechWarior-themed thread on the NJ Airsoft forum (where one of the users hosts the image through photobucket), and one on a MechWarior-themed thread on the SimpleMachines forum (which links to the image, which is being hosted by MekTek).

Of note is that, according to this chart, the 20-ton Dasher is less than one full meter shorter than the 100-ton Daishi... :)

Resizing mechs wont happen because PGI has already said it'd take to much time and effort to fix something that will 'add little to no value to the game for the amount of effort it would take to implement'.

A shorter Trebuchet please?

I don't know why. But whenever I see one run I always imagine a dude in a track suit. It's weird.

Just my Personal thought here. Not sure of the fluid dynamic in the Crytech engine. But I would build a tank of “water” to get a Displacement/weight factor. Then use this Displacement/weight factor to scale the mechs. This way we can take height, depth and width or in other terms the X, Y, & Z in to count for all the Mechs to rescale.

AKA a Raven would be shorter than a Spider do to the fact it has a lot of Depth even thou both are 30 ton mech.
The Stalker and Awesome maybe very close in height due to the fact Stalker has a lot of Depth where the Awesome is really wide.

I would think the most glaring size issue would be the quickdraw

10 tons heavier than the Treb but it's like twice the size and it looks about the same size as the VIC and highlander even though it's 20-30 tons less

This is a topic PGI should move on immediately along with a total re engineering of all hit boxes. I understand the challenges involved with this massive amount of work given the limitations(team size, time to launch, etc.) But this is a worth while topic that warrants your specific attention to make the whole game better.

You could just re-assign the 3pv team to this and get it done.

Edit:
This would also make an atlas look scarier as it would tower over all of the battle field where as a flea, or a locust would look small and silly in comparison. Large mechs should be larger and stand head shoulders over smaller mechs.

The lights are to small as well.

Only the Jenner is too small IMO. The Jenner needs to be the same size as the Raven. The other light mechs are fine.

Yes, size needs a serious look. The canon 8-14 meters would go a long way towards fixing the game balance. Light mechs are seriously too small, the assaults are too large, and worse, odd mechs are outsized for their classes and therefore disadvantaged.

Resizing would help a lot. Canon resizing would help even more.

Voted for this ages ago, but I will definitely reiterate my support for resizing these mechs. We know it's a huge expenditure of resources and time, but for consistancy sake, it really really needs to be done.

Think of the gameplay balance implications some of these scaling issues bring! Think how hard it is to hit a spider vs a stalker. The size difference makes targeting and hitting way different. Now imagine you've scaled a medium to the size of an assault. Way easier target.

Rescale pleeeease! :C

Time for another name change to this thread. Kintaro needs to be mentioned. PGI is stubbornly refusing to balance the size of mechs for gameplay. No silly lore arguments about such and such mech being designed from foam. Gameplay is suffering as a result of this. Everything else is just fluff.

Quickdraw would be my favorite mech but until it loses its I wanna be an assault disease I don't see myself using it anymore. With the current sizing its no wonder everyone is running assaults because you'd be dumb to run anything else besides a tiny light.

Seriously a simple standard Low to High scale would be amazing. Light's are the smallest,Mediums a bit bigger, Heavy's are a bit bigger then those and Assault's are the biggest. Heck make the atlas the base and adjust everything accordingly.

I think that the devs have a valid point about the catapults missile arms being more hollow.

I would like to see a volume comparison between a CPLT-K2 and a stalker.

I think the stalker is fine.... The catapult is a bit too big.

The treb has a narrow side profile... I think it is not as bad as people say...
