Can you split objects.pak into multiple files? The file gets corrupted at least once a week, and usually takes 2-3 downloads to get a non-corrupted file. I'm tired of sitting around waiting forever downloading, and I've had to increase my download limit because of all the extra bandwidth I keep using.

I tried to install MechWarrior online on my new computer. Was having major issues. I got the MD5 Hash error, then i ran the repair tool to patch, still had mismatched files. I did everything possible from updating in to safe mode, to even a factory restore on my computer. I even changed windows permissions, no antivirus, no firewall, everything. So I started looking at how big the folder was where it was installed, and it wasn't even over 500mb. So Something is preventing it downloading and saving to the computer. My boyfriend ( this is his name, I'm a girl, lol) plays too so I decided to just copy that folder its installed to from his computer, he had windows XP, and I have Windows 7.over to my computer and see if it will run, sure enough, fixed it. I noticed the file size of that folder was a little over 3GB with the current patches as of to date. So maybe this might shed some insight, and help with getting an actual fix with downloading. So if you have some friends that play copy that folder over to your computer. It would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games[/color] in Windows 7. Xp it will be under Program Files/Games. So maybe someone can create a zip file with the current 3gb of data and upload it somewhere so those that want to play can now. If your starting from scratch download the launcher and install, try to patch, and after it fails to patch just replace the files with the up to date ones. I do not know if its going to work as far as patching yet, today was a new patch so we shall see on the next patch, but i dont see any reason why it would not. You need someones files who does not have an issue with anything and is up to date. So I really don't think its an issue of anyone's computer. I think its the downloader itself.

Any idea why the download speed for the .pak files never exceeds 50kb/s?
It's a pain to fix mismatched files when it takes all day to re-download the game.

My Location: Germany. 17mbit/s max downsteam.

You know I'm not an IT wizard but I've noticed a few things concerning this error. I just joined what two months ago and played for weeks 6-8 weeks without a single Fread error. I played for 4-8 hours a day not a single problem. Then I made a few purchases, started buying mech's that's when I got hit with the Fread error. Now I'm getting the error once or twice a week, the repair tool seems to be working to fix the problem short term (a week). And I've been reading these forums, this has been going on over a year and has not been fixed? I'm a gamer and have never had such problems in any game over the last 10 years..... Come on guys let's get it fixed.

I don't know if this has anything to do with the currupted files and I haven't done any testing but I suppose all information helps.

I downloaded the Repair Wizard and have run it about 5 times now and my objects.pak keeps turing up currupt however I've been watching youtube videos while I wait for it to download again, maby streaming media or taxing your internet in general while downloading the patch causes the problem?

Again this has been my experience and I have no data and or tests to suggest this other than I so happend to be watching youtube when the patch/repair wizard failed.

Indeed, the objects.pak and RiverCity_ig.pak seems to get corrupted all the time.
especially the huge objects.pak takes always very long to download.

one thing happened to me just now:
after MWO crashing the whole day, i decided to delete the *.pak files and ran the repair tool.
during the first run it downloaded all the missing files but i ran it a second time just to be sure, and RiverCity_ig.pak that was just downloaded was corrupted AGAIN!
i didn't even start the game nor did i do anything else. i just ran the tool twice...

is something wrong with my computer or with the tool or what?

Nothing is wrong with your computer. MWO corrupts files on a regular basis, and the downloaded files get corrupted on a regular basis. PGI has been "working" on the problem for over 1 year now. I'm sure they will have it fixed by the end of the decade.

I write this as I once again download objects.pak, praying I get a clean download and don't have to DL it a second time tonight. PGI has increased the size of objects.pak to ~2gb. The more things they cram into that file, the more likely it is to get corrupted, and the longer it will take you to DL it each time. It is so illogical it borders on stupidity or willful harm to their customers. No more $ from me until they fix this. So I guess no more $ from me, ever.

Likely their servers are over worked from everyone having to re-download the game over and over again. Obviously they want to upset us, otherwise they would split up their 2gb files into smaller ones, so we could just DL small chunks to fix the corruption instead of DLing huge files to fix 1 tiny corrupted file.

So to add to the confusion, I was crashing last night and ran the repair tool, 2 corrupted files, clicked the fix went to bed. get up this morning (computer HAS NOT restarted) repair tool show all errors fixed, ran the repair tool again and... yep you guessed it Objects.pak corrupted.

So does MWO corrupt this file while not running with the computer sitting idle for 4 hours? It appears so. The objects.pak file was not corrupted on the first pass through yet after the repair tool ran to fix 2 other files it now is.

All I have to say is WTF?

MISMATCHED FILES:
Z:\PG\MechWarrior Online\Game\Textures.pak-->http://patcher.mwomercs.com/patch/Production/live/Game/Textures.pak

FOUND LOCAL FILES FOR REMOVAL!

Z:\PG\MechWarrior Online\mworepairtool.exe

Can we update the repair tool so it doesn't try to remove itself when placed in the game directory? Call me OCD, but I don't like keeping it in random locations and it is frequently needed as objects/texture.pak are both really unstable files.

I'm starting to think I've had to run the repair tool more than I've played the game. How often does the game need to corrupt its own files? I'm getting "FREAD DID NOT READ EXPECTED NUMBER OF BYTE FROM FILE, ONLY 128 OF 0 BYTES READ" everytime I try to launch into a game, every damn day.

This repair tool is a joke.

I cannot help wondering how many people complaining about file corruptions run an overclocked rig... If you do overclock and have problems with file corruptions, did you trying disabling your overclock for a while and check at least for testing purposes whether that file corruption still occurs? Also, your memory might be faulty, your HDD/SSD could have a problem... the reason may be totally elsewhere. Just because here you use a tool checking for certain symptoms (which you do not get presented that clearly in your normal work/game day), not necessarily MWO is at fault... of course, could still be MWO :P

I'm for example am currently hunting down FPS drops and general performance loss, which I only noted yesterday (and never before) after having installed the latest MWO patch AND updated my nvidia driver to the most recent one (the one with shadowplay). Now mostly in the 60ies (FPS drops to 40ies) coming from mostly 80-100 (and Drops to 60ish)... weird weird... Will start with deleting the MWO shader cash as well as running the repair tool, I suppose...

Post patch yesterday my install seems to be corrupted. It is a DLL error (can not say exactly which one as I am at work now). Does this tool check DLLs as well, or should I reinstall video drives first and then and the whole client if needed?

Good evening, Krist,

I am getting an MD5 hash mismatch when attempting to patch, so I tried to run the repair tool. The tool begins downloading the appropriate files, then stops working, throwin a .Net runtime and overall application error. Here are the event log outputs:

Yea it cannot really fix the problem of mine.

After being done with the 1.3Gb patch, I can't seem to play the game, after pressing lauch, the game loads, goes to the map poster, and then its done, the screen stay blank. Need to force close the game, via Alt+F4 or Ctrl+Alt+Del and end task via task manager.

When I restarted the client, and tries to go to the testing ground, it can play there, with the dummy mechs, that is.
What to do?

Already run the repairs tool several times to no avail . . .
Sigh, here we only got 4Mbps connection top, it would take like half a day to do a clean install again . . .

Sigh, it seems like, every 4 out of 5 times, I would be unable to play normally, the problem seems to come back, blank screen all the ways after the pressing the Launch buttons . . .

It needs like multiple restart for me to be able to play normally.

Any advices is kindly appreciated thanks.

I have been getting this errror consistently since I've started playing this game. The repair tool is a band-aid solution that usually works, at least for a short time. Time to get this fixed!

Is this tool really working?

It seems to mark every single file as broken, even if i run it over and over again.
