Dont lie, none of the changes you made came from community feedback. The damage-control for you against several thousand subforums came from the community...

If you dont have anything true to say, at least have the decency to be quiet.

I do not think that calling Niko a liar outright will do any good here.

Game forum structure is serious business

posting animated gifs in a serious conversation only makes me think you're 12. please don't derail this serious conversation by making it look like 4chan.

an easy fix would to make the forums available only to paying customers, many other games actually do this. that way forum users cannot be considered the minority, but real customers.

You cannot be serious...

A troll has hacked Niko's forum account, surely?

I'm going to have to agree with people who think that, until the mods add a poll for whether or not to return the general discussion forum--or ask us directly, how we think they should organize subforums around a central general discussion--they're full of ****.

Sorry, but, there is a huge crowd of people who are upset by the loss of a central discussion area. I don't know if they're the majority or a loud minority. Neither do you. And until you stop sidestepping that issue and refusing to talk to us about it--oh wait, you have talked to us about it, you've mocked us for getting upset about it--until you stop mocking us for our issues and talk to us about it, and put up a poll, you won't know.

And that's called customer service. It's called PR. There is a group of people who are dissatisfied, you need to at least address them, talk to them, figure something out, rather than just ignore them and make snide comments about how we're claiming a dark age is coming.

We're demanding a discussion, a 'referendum', on the GD forum. And you're completely ignoring us, except for an occasional ******** comment.

How about a little bit of customer service over here?

The vitriol about it being censorship and the end of the game pretty much derailed any seriousness of the topic long ago, at this point, it's only mockworthy.

I'm 100% for a section that is only accessible to those who have bought something in the game or invested in the Founders Program, Then you can have your GD or whatever other forum structure you crave. However, since this is a F2P title, it's not going to happen.

I'd also be for a section for those actually want to discuss issues in an organized format without all the nerdrage from entitled participants who are under the delusion that this is a release product.

Private companies can and do censor stuff all the time. It is their right.
Not going to argue anything to the contrary.
Even you though have to agree that the community was rather close to one sided on the issue of bring back "General Discussion" also I think that you would agree that the subsequent change of giving a board called "General Discussion" and only allowing posts to sub forums was a greasy thing to do. And further that the poll they had that dared not ask the big question was crap.
It is, in the end their board. To do with what they want. But we can expect a higher level of honesty about it.
Can we not?

I'm pretty sure your 2457 posts define nerd rage.

also having the forums be paying customers only is easy, you define "paid customer" as anyone who has made a single purchase in game similar to how teamfortress2 works.

non-paying customers are given a a "new user" sub forum like we had

paid customers get access to all forums.

this would seed out all threads from troll accounts or imposters and young kids that just don't understand how forums work and how to act appropriately.

You use words like "Greasy" and "honesty" and expect me to give you a serious response?

2: On your side bro.

i don't care if you are on my side, your immaturity makes me want to distance myself from anything you are saying because you cannot do it in a mature and adult manner.

it is part the reason the devs are not listening, and have done this in the first place.

Yes.
I though "Greasy" was the mildest term I could "Honestly" use to describe what they did.
I stand behind the term. So, I answered your question. Would you do the same and answer the questions put to you?

Yeah, I agree something should be pinned, but the patch schedule is twice a month, not every 2 weeks. April and July kinda screw the pooch by having 5 Tuesdays.

Yup, and kids want ice cream for dinner, and voting records of the past 50 years show that people will vote against their own self interest without realizing it because they voted with emotion rather than logic.

Nope, don't agree. Not only was it not 'greasy' but it also has raised the bar of posting quality. I'm trolling much less now.

The 'big question' as you put it is a non-factor, it wasn't a poll about do you want GD, it was a poll about what to do with some of the minor forums.

I still wonder why they even bother with having official game website and redesigning forums if they post almost nothing here and they say forum users opinions matter very little or nothing at all.

Edit: oh, and there's Dev Blogs & Interviews forum. This is a good one. Last post started 11 Apr 2012.

I have to disagree with this. Syllogy is updating his "content" tracker post at least every other day with new information. Much better than a lot of other games I've been a part of.

Also, as I said in another thread, that whole "Doesn't listen to the posters" thing, I think has been taken out of context. If I remember right, it was in regards to dissatisfaction, where they weigh the poster with only a few posts over the one who is on daily screaming "PGI LIED, ELECTRONS DIED". I may be wrong about the context of that conversation, and I'm sure someone will be along soon with a screenshot if I am.

Actually I never saw that post. What I have seen is them telling us that they hear us and will address our issues.
My "Feeling" on this as I do not have direct proof is that in spite of what they said they had no intention of listening.
They made their decision and nothing we say will deflect them from their current direction.
That is IMO dishonest. You may feel differently.
Though I refuse to believe that the way I am looking at this is crazy or completely out of bounds.

They made their decision and no matter what we say it is going to stick. "GD" is gone and will continue to be.

Their posts on the subject though are far from stating what seems to be obvious to the rest of us.

Thank you for acting on the voted for changes. Perhaps more people will vote next time? Time will only tell.

They only gave us choices between thing they wanted A and thing they are cool with B.

I can set up a poll and ask the community if they should give me all of their money or only half.
This does not make me a good guy for putting up the poll. besides it not like people do not vote when it is important to them. even when they are not assured of it getting implemented.
The reason no one voted is clear,

Greetings MechWarriors!

As per http://mwomercs.com/...endum-26042013/,
With 236 votes cast, the forum referendum comes to a close.

With the wishes of the forum community:
(snip)

I cannot resist pointing this out. After six days, there were 236 votes cast on this referendum.

I recall another referendum made, not by management, but by the forum community. In only four days, at the time of my count, 3,249 had voted against 3rd person view. Now it is not my intention to derail this thread into one about that issue. I don't want it to be derailed.

I dare say though that there might have been a significant voter turnout for this official forum referendum of IGP's, that they're so proud of, had it involved the issues about the MWO forums that the MWO forum community cares about, rather than a cloud of smoke getting blown.
