These contests are broken since players are synch dropping to create "solo" 4+ man teams and the team is allowing individuals to boost there scores by allowing one person to do most of the damage to the enemy mechs.

All the team has to do is allow one person to shoot up one or two disabled or DC'ed mech and that person scores 1200 damage a match. There is play footage all over the net showing this occurring.

You posted this in the other thread. We are discussing here how to remedy it, so if you have something constructive to add, or an objection to what people have posted, be our guest.

Otherwise...well...you get the idea :D

Didn't realize you owned this thread or the forum. If you don't like what I have to say there is a report button at the bottom. Get the idea?

Never claimed to own anything, we all realize that the format isn't working properly, and coming in here and stating the obvious isn't really constructive.

If you got any ideas on how to make a more fair and balanced tournament, please let us know so we can discuss it. The more constructive a thread is, the more likely PGI/IGP is likely to listen and get it right next time.

Except your 5 worse over any real period of time will always be 5 CTD matches.

If PGI has a way to track CTD(they should), they would be able to prevent those matches from being counted. The other option would be to just take the average of ALL your matches played during the tournament.

something you are terrible at,

This from the guy who walks into his teammate's lasers that are firing on an enemy, then turns and TK's that teammate because he took a few points of damage before the teammate could move the lasers off him.

Either you are a noob(know this is false), you are terrible when it comes to awareness of your surroundings, or you're just an ***. I'm leaning towards you being a combination of the last two.

I think the tournament is a lot of fun.

I faced Koreanese a couple times on Friday, he killed me. Good pilot.

Personally, I don't play these tournaments to win them. I like to see where I stack up compared with everyone else. I don't see the need to get into a big **** swinging contest. I'm too lazy to win these tournaments. I like to play for fun most of the time.

Yeah, after you opened fire on me. And if I could have locked on I would have killed you.

But when you walked into TWO LASERS for the fraction of a second before I could move them and you were at no damage, that hardly qualifies as 'almost killing you'.

A few points of laser damage does not warrant a 45-point alpha strike response.

You know what, I have to go with neviu on this. Because if you needed lock on to hit him, that means you use streaks, and so screw you.

Heaven forbid I play a mixed-range loadout instead of boating ppc's and gauss.

He walked into my firing on an enemy mech.
I moved my lasers off him as soon as he did so.
He turned and started blasting with said ppc's and gauss.

Inordinate response to what was HIS mistake.

The only excuse for unloading on a teammate is if they are on a serious TK mission. Accidental FF happens all the time.

You're right, I did core out your back to yellow. After you alpha'd me, then turned to leave.

Did you think I would just sit there after you fired 3 ppc's and a gauss in response? You put my CT at RED. THAT was when I opened up your back.

But when you walked into my line of fire the first time? Not even. As I stated, I moved off as soon as I realized it was a teammate. And if a fraction of a second from 2 lasers put your ENTIRE BACK at yellow, maybe you should put more than 8-10 points there.

How to fix tournaments:

8/12 Man registered teams in a tourney queue. Honestly in a team game, why is every measuring contest based on individual stats? TEAM game, TEAM stats. Manipulate that with sync drops, lol.

/fixed

With how borked the matchmaker and how relatively easy it is to game the scoring system these tourneys the only impression I get is PGI trolling the regular user base that has to put up with all the shenanigans. Nobody who does well in these things are doing what is in the best interest of the team they drop with. There is a lot of talent at the top of the charts to be sure, but those slots were purchased with a lot of bad games for the other 7 players on their team.

Indeed. Tournaments are like golf to me... I can't compete with the pros, so I figure out where my baseline is and compete with that. A score above 750 in this tournament per day is like a sub-100 round in golf... which tells you everything you need to know about my dedication to either game, LOL

In the end, it's about doing your best. If your best wins you a prize, more power to you. If you have to cheat to get that prize, well, I hope it was worth all the effort, I guess. :D

lol monk is going around telling top leaderboard players cheat to win because he cant play as good. so I suppose if you didn't make the try out for the baseball team, you could accuse everyone else for steroid abuse

The fault of being shot by a friendly is both participants Sir Digby. Please keep in mind There are people on the battlefield with Mech wrecker builds. My part is knowing where you are before I pull the trigger your part is to pay attention to the beams an cone trails an try to avoid cutting through them.

If I shoot you(as an ally) with my entire payload, we both are at fault. I will apologize once out of danger of getting killed. But I will expect similar maturity in response.
